Pangaea* (Under revision!)

50.5 million years into the future, and Earth has reverted back to it's original state-the super continent of Pangaea. A new country is born, learning from past mistakes. A girl, riddled with sadness but an unknown power. A boy, with a silver spoon in his mouth and pockets full of money. This infant country is, however, surrounded by war and death, and both boy and girl are no exception. When a government plot threatens to overthrow everything they hold dear, Adelle and Marcus must search themselves to decide what's right.

5. Marcus

"A dream is wish your heart makes, when your fast asleep. In dreams, you will loose your heartache. Whatever you wish for, you keep. Have faith in your dreams and someday, your rainbow will come smiling through No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing  the dream that you wish, will come tr-" I stopped singing, and quickly tensed as I heard another, lower voice join me. I relaxed, because I knew this voice. It was only Marcus.  I smiled, letting the silly expression take over my face.  "If you keep believing, the dream that you wish, will come true."  My mother, before the ice queen took over, taught me this song.  It helped me relax, even now. Sparrow was being his usual self-irritating- and caused me tons of stress. But the arrogant boy's words rang true. What were Arrow and I? We had never gone far, but he was pressuring me so much lately. I was so deep in thought, I didn't notice when Marcus sat down next to me. I sighed, before leaning my head on his shoulder. What would I do without him?

  *Marcus's P.O.V*

She really didn't notice, did she? She couldn't hear my heartbeat race, the heat from having her so close suffocating me. I love her, but she's with Arrow.  I can't believe she's with him. Her laugh, her smile, her.  Since getting together, the light in her blue, blue eyes has gone out. The laugh lines on her face? Replaced with worry lines. He was using her, I just knew it. Ade. Her personality, too, had disappeared. She had trusted me, but now was too busy to care. It broke me, inside and out. I missed her, my Ade. "Where did you go?" I hadn't realized that I'd said this aloud until it was too late.

"I'm not sure, Marcus. I'm just not sure." The troubled look on her face, meant for someone much older than 18, tore at my heartstrings.  Without thinking, I pulled her into my famous bear hugs. She buried her face in my neck, and I tried to ignore the sharp pang of desire that pulsed through me. I knew I didn't have much time-Arrow had made sure of that. The illness coursing through my veins only assured my death, and besides, Arrow was just speeding it up. The Virus. Once, there was a cure, but the virus mutated, and is now resistant to treatment. I couldn't let anyone know, especially not Ade. Not Ade. Once I was gone, she would have Arrow. All she would need is already buttoned up. I hadn't noticed she'd fallen asleep until I heard her trademark snore. I smiled lightly, and tried to pry her off of me, but to no avail. Her grip was like iron, and I obviously wasn't going anywhere.  Letting out a deep sigh, I closed my eyes, only to plagued once more

I was bent over, picking up the papers I dropped. I didn't mind, and besides, it was the day I was going to finally ask Ade out. I liked her so much, I don't know what I would do if she rejected me! As I leaned forward, a sharp blow to the knee sent me sprawling. "Hey, what the hell?" I yelled, not caring to censer my language. I recognized my commander in chief, Arrow, standing over me. "Get up swine. You and I have business to discuse." "What is it, Sir?"  he didn't answer at first, just walked towards his desk, and motioned for me to sit. I slowly got up, and pulled out the old wicker chair that had sat at his desk for years.

"It concerns Ade. I want you to forget all of your feelings for her, as I have taken an interest in her." "W-What?" I sputtered, not fully comprehending what he just said. "I said, beat it, and leave Ade alone. Got it?" Swallowing my fear, I stood up. "And what if I don't?" I had waited for an entire year, had let Ade heal, I wasn't going to back down this easily.Arrow laughed, and his face twisted into a mask of anger and cruelty. Before his first blow, though, I was convulsing. I spit up a green colored gunk I didn't know I could produce, and pulled myself away. All I heard was cruel, cruel laughter. "So, I don't have to kill you then? I can see something already beat me to the punch, but that dosen't mean I can't make a point."

I didn't see the blow coming, but in seconds I was down on the ground, spitting out blood. He didn't stop, just kept punching. I couldn't see him, and didn't dream of fighting back. He would cast me out into exile-and I wouldn't risk that. I know he would do it too, and lie to Ade. Ade. Her sweet smile and crazy personality, her lovely eyes, her gorgeous soul, hidden from others with her tough outer layer. I lost myself in thought, trying to ignore the constant blows to my face, neck, and upper body. When I finally limped out in the early morning, I was a changed man. I knew I had to leave Ade alone, before she got hurt too.

Hi Guys! Long time, no see. Well, computer interaction. My views have been climbing, slowly but surely! In this chapter, you got to see a bit more of Marcus and his past. He has a soft side, and loves Ade, but that's all I can say! I can give you a sneak peek of the next Chapter though. You'll see a bit of Ade's soft side after some training! She's not all Ice Queen, she's sweet and very kind. That's the side only Marcus knows, and that's how she wants it to stay! I can promise you'll love Ade by next chapter, if you don't already
