Pangaea* (Under revision!)

50.5 million years into the future, and Earth has reverted back to it's original state-the super continent of Pangaea. A new country is born, learning from past mistakes. A girl, riddled with sadness but an unknown power. A boy, with a silver spoon in his mouth and pockets full of money. This infant country is, however, surrounded by war and death, and both boy and girl are no exception. When a government plot threatens to overthrow everything they hold dear, Adelle and Marcus must search themselves to decide what's right.

9. Marcus POV

I sat down hard on the cold, ragged stone, ignoring the sharp prickles of pain that shot up my leg. Was this happening? Once, not too long ago, I had thought my life couldn't get worse. But Ade? She had lost her child, her fiance, and her family in the span of 2 days at most. She had to hide the guilt for so long. A surge of anger came over me, crashing over my head and breaking any self control I had left. I roared, turning around and punching the nearest tree, driving my fist over and over into the bark, ignoring the streams of blood that ran down my arms. Ade, why didn't you tell me? I could have helped you! Wait, Ade? I whipped my head to the side, nearly screaming when I saw Ade. She was slumped over, and a thin line of blood trailed down from her lips. Her arms were stretched forward, as if reaching out to an unknown fate. With her head slumped forward, her blonde hair parted lang enough for me to see the large, baseball-sized bruise on the back of her head.

I gasped. That bastard! He must have hit her when... never mind that. Quickly, I made my way over to where Ade was. "Ade! Wake up, please Ade, you can't leave me! I only have you left!" The very thought of loosing Ade was enough to send me to tears. "Ade, you have to wake up!" I shook her shoulders vigorously, trying to get her to respond to something-anything. "Ade, I-I" I took a deep breathe, before continuing. "Ade, I l-love you! I always have! Your smile, your eyes, your laughter, and even when you cry." I looked down at her, hoping to see a sign of life in her blue eyes. But..they were vacant. Empty. A shell.  Sobbing, I pulled her body to me. She was gone..Ade was gone. Through my sobs, I thought I heard a noise. A, whisper maybe? Pulling backwards, I looked down at Ade. For one miraculous moment, I swear I saw her blink.

"Ade..." With a shuddering gasp, Ade heaved and coughed. All I could do was stare. I had almost lost her! Grabbing her, I pulled her towards me, and clutched her just a bit tighter. I had almost lost my only ray of sunshine in this deep, dark world.  I gently reached up to touch Ade's face, and slowly pulled her chin upward. "Ade, you scared me. I don't know what I would have done without you." I said evenly. Her rosebud lips popped open, before slowly closing, silencing whatever she had to say. "Marcus, I-" "Shh." Looking into her eyes, I leaned closer and closer until we were but inches apart. Closing my eyes, I closed the gap between us, pressing my lips up against her softer ones. This is where I'm meant to be.
