10. Pissed!

Ally’s POV

We pulled up to the apartment thirty minutes after Liam’s abrupt and uncalled for show of machoness back at his apartment.

That’s what I could use to describe what had just happened back there.

A show. Of Machoness on his behalf..

During our ride over, everything was tense as he could feel the anger rolling off my shoulders. I mean, c’mon I’m glad [like every other girl would be] that Liam wants to stake a claim and let the world know I’m his… I’m flattered [don’t get me wrong] but… but well, I didn’t like people telling me what to do or trying to control my life for me.

I got that. Believe me I’ve had more than my fair share of controlled life from mom…

I just didn’t want to be in a relationship where I got that too. Y’know?

Liam had quite harshly brushed off his best friend who’d just arrived home after a tremendous, world-publicized break-up.

Throughout the day, I’d wished Harry never thought Liam was treating him like he didn’t want there, because well, once you got over the testosterone, Liam really was happy at Harry’s arrival.

Liam turned off the engine, a sign that he was planning to stay for a short chat before he left.

A chat I was really too pissed off to get into right now.

Silence filled the car.

I shifted slightly, my breaths were all I focused on.

One. I counted them.

Two. Three. Liam placed his hands on the steering wheel.

Four. Five. Six.

He angled himself to face me. His brows furrowed together as he tried to fit words together.

I waited for him to say something, to start off the conversation.

Apparently he was hoping I did, as seconds later he still kept his mouth shut.

Speak! Say something! Say something, Liam! I sent him those mental words, shouting them in my head, wishing it would get across to him, without me actually opening my mouth and saying it.

He leaned back, relaxing his shoulders, a sign that he wasn’t going anywhere, until whatever this was was solved.

Oh screw this! I thought as I sighed.

I turned, my hand reached out to the door handle, turning it and pushing against it to open, but seconds before it turned fully I heard a click as suddenly my door was locked.

I looked at Liam, he stared at me, expression neutral as if he hadn’t just bloody locked the door seconds before, preventing my escape.

I sighed, averting my eyes because frankly, I lost my will and determination every time I met those warm, deep brown orbs of his.

I opted to keep my gaze firmly planted on his shoulders.

Pissed! I reminded myself. You’re pissed as hell! Don’t forget that.

“Why’d you do that?” I asked him directly, reminding myself to keep my gaze locked on his shoulders.

Of course that affected me more than helped me keep a clear head.

The white sleeved tee that he word strained from his defined muscles.

His scent enveloped the car, driving me crazy as I steadied my gaze.

Anxiety built a home on his shoulder as he knew that my question wasn’t about the little scene he made by locking my door, the question was about his little show back at his apartment.

“Why’d I do what, Als?” he asked nonetheless.

I felt his gaze burning a hole through me.

“Why’d you pull the whole macho man back there, Liam?” I spit out.

“Because I…” he paused for a second, “Als, look at me, will ya?” his fingers cup my chin, tilting it upwards until my eyes met his.

Those big brown eyes captured me, captured my breath and held me.

I couldn’t think.

I didn’t know what I was going to say. What I wanted to say.

He smiled wryly at me and thank god he didn’t have dimples or I would’ve melted into non-existence.

“Because what Liam?” I asked when he didn’t bother to finish his thought.

“I…” his brows furrowed together as he thought deeply. “I…” he continued before his gaze met mine again. “Okay, I don’t know what to say Ally. That was wrong and I’m sorry.”

I eyed him.

“You have to say sorry to Harry too. All he was trying to do was be a friend Liam. It didn’t warrant you rubbing our relationship in his face. He just went through a tough break-up.”

Liam bit his lower lip for what felt like minutes as blood rushed there, making his lips redder and fuller than usual.

‘Don’t. Don’t look at his lips Ally,’ I told myself under my breath.

Liam smiled slightly, giving me reason to believe he’d heard me. But thankful he continued without any mention of my embarrassment. “Yeah, okay. You’re right. I should definitely apologize to Haz. He didn’t deserve that.”

“Good. And you… you kinda need to ease off on the possessiveness Li.”

“Okay, done…” he offered me another small smile.

Suddenly Liam shut his eyes as his face was shrouded with light going on and off … and on again, repeatedly.

He chuckled lightly.

“I guess that’s Nath’s way of letting us know to hurry it up, eh?” he chuckled again.

I nodded. “Uh-huh!”

“Okay… g’nyt babe. See ya tomorrow?”

I nodded. “I’ll drive over.”

“Remember we’re having brunch at Lou and El’s.”

I nodded again before he kissed me lightly on the lips.

I smiled at him as I got out of the car and shut the door behind me.

“Give Nath my regards,” he added as I turned around and waved.

He finally drove off once I closed the front door behind me.

“Hey Nath!” I called out.

“In the living room Als,” he shouted back.

I headed over. “Liam sent his reg---” the word died in my mouth as my gaze settled on a reclined Tom sitting next to Nathan, his eyes honed in on his phone.

Will sat on the armchair, his eyes locked on the screen playing replays of last weeks game between Madrid and New Castle.

Two warring emotions rose within me.

Anger and Happiness, but mot definitely anger.

The half smile beginning to form on my face betrayed the anger I felt at our last encounter on the phone.

Tom had hung up on me…

And he hadn’t even returned any of my phone calls.

I wanted to strangle the explanation out of him before landing a punch squarely on his jaw.

Tom remained unfazed as if he didn’t feel me sending daggers his way.

“Als, Tom came over,” Will offered me the unnecessary explanation when I still remained speechless minutes after my appearance.

Tom’s gaze remained locked on his phone that right now I wanted to send crashing into the nearby wall.

“Hey Tom,” I made the first move.

He looked up and curtly sends me a sharp nod, before looking back at his phone.

I contemplated the dangers of planting that device into the wall and making as hasty and dramatic departure.

I smirked at the expression Tom’s face would conjure up, but settled for just heading up to my room to change my clothes.

I hurriedly pulled out my blue pyjama bottoms and pulled on a black sleeveless top to match before rushing back downstairs with my mind made up that tom and I were gonna settle whatever rift there was between us right now.

This. Had. To. End. Now…
