Yet Another Runaway's Tale

(EDIT 2/12/16: Yes, I know this story is terrible and while I'd delete it out of shame I'm kind of keeping it so I can laugh about it with friends.)

In a little village in the south of England, Carmen Stacey and her best friend Travis are living in a world of sweet nothing. But when things become sour, Carmen abandons her modern fairy tale life.

Just half an hour away is a different society, run by the corrupt LittleVilla family, with the eldest daughter, Kimmy allready on the run. When a series of events becomes illegal, Grace LittleVilla flees with local troublemaker Henry Sapphire.

26. Chapter 26~Carmen

"Skylar, can you and Carmen go out and get some more food tomorrow. Kimmy's got the munchies again." Sofia says

almost an hour later, it's really late and Kimmy is curled up to Sky like a cat. "Sure Fia. Make me a list Kimmykins" Sky replies.

"Sure. Don't presure me" She murmers. Kimmy is really tired. "I hate the munchies. It makes me feel fat."

"Looks like someone's fishing for complements" Sofia says in a jokey manor. "Well it's getting late, I am of to bed. Goodnight my little KimmyKins, Sky-Sky and Cara-Cakes"

"Night Mummy Fia" Kimmy jokes, Sofia laughs.

"I'm going to be too." I say, "Night guys."

"Nighty Night Cara-Cakes." Kimmy says.

I dream that night when I'm in my sleep. I have a dream that I'm back home and Jack's cleared off. I'm running

through the village and I see Kimmy and Sky beside me. Kimmy's pink and purple hair blowing in the breeze. As I run to Travis's house, I see a blonde girl with freckles and a boy with hair like Sky's with a ciggy in his mouth. I am assuming these are Gracie and Henry. We all knock on Travis's door and his mum awnsers. We go into the tree house in his back garden and sing kumbiya for tips. But both Travis's parents care. I don't know why Travis's dad is in my dream, he ran away with an ex-stripper when Travis was ten, but he is, and I really don't care. After breaking several windows singing kumbiya,  Travis's mum, Matilda comes with some cookies and milk for us all to eat. Then it is night, and Kimmy is telling us a story of one of her rebelious battles with her erm..."adopted" father. I decide to go and check on mum and the twins and see if I can stay the night at Travis's. Because this version of me does not have a phone. Thicko.

I walk to my house and the door is locked. I look up and my window is open. I knock on the door and a figure answers.

This figure has now physical features to speak of and his voice is wired.

"Come in Carmen."

I walk into the room and I see a bunch of scruffy people smoking and injecting needles. The figure doesn't cover my eyes. He just guides me into a big, empty room upstairs. The room seems familiar and alien at the same time. The figure changes. It's not a emotionless drone. It's Jack.

"Jack?" This thick version of me says. "What's going on? Who were these people?"

"I'm doing this to keep you safe. I'm sorry and I love you all."

Then the Jack-hybrid grows a massive fist which punches me. I fall flat on my face and the village is turning grey. All the features in the room are fluttering away from the surroundings. They turn into little paper butterflies. Jack turns into a pile of smoke. I hear thuds at the door and I hear "Carmen! Carmen!" Like they're calling me. I don't move. I watch my spirit leaving my body. The spirit just floats to the bed and watches the body. It does nothing.

"I WON'T LET YOU GET ME!" I scream, again and again. Sofia wakes up and Kimmy runs into the bedroom. She's in

her underwear for some reason. Kimmy walks up to me and sits on my bed. She smells of alcohol.

"Cara! Calm down. It just was a dream I promise. What was it? You can tell me. Fia, go back to bed. I'll look after her."

Sky walks into the room, he's not almost naked like Kimmy but looks worried, and not probably drunk. "Carmen, are you okay?"

"I'm fine."

"Okay,"

Sky walks into his bed and falls asleep. But Kimmy watches me.

"Tell me your nightmare, please."

I sigh and I tell her, as I start to describe the hybrid, her face beings to churn in horror.

"Is that why you ran away? Your step-dad beat you? And you think he's on drugs?"

"Y-Y-es" I whine as I break down in tears, and Kimmy just watches, like she doesn't know what to do. She pushes me onto my pillow and says: "Sleep. I'll keep the nightmares away Cara. No one will hurt you again I promise you."

She hugs me and kisses my forehead. "goodnight sweet chicka." she whispers.

I close my eyes again, but I don't dream. The night is long and empty. I hear a faint voice singing some really old

pop song, Waterfalls I think. Then the singing stops, but I use my imagination to dream the song on a stereo. I think Kimmy was singing to me. Her voice is calming and sweet, a bit ironic actually.
