Good Girl Gone Bad

When the best student in school meets a few boys, she'll have to make some big decisions. Who will she choose?

18. What Are You Doing Here?

"Zayn," I turned around, pulling my hand away from Liam's quickly. Liam gave me a weird look, as if I had pulled my hand away a little too quickly. Liam quickly turned his attention from me to Zayn.

“What are you doing here?” Liam countered Zayn's question with a question. Zayn pulled his lit cigarette from his mouth and blew out a puff of smoke.

“I come here to smoke sometimes.” Zayn shrugged and tucked the cigarette back in his lips.

“Well, we are kind of on a date.” Liam explained. I tried to keep my eyes on the ground, away from Zayn. I couldn't help but peek up and watch his reaction when Liam told him this.

“Oh,” Zayn's brown eyes, changed to sad quickly. “I'll go then.” Zayn sighed, turning around to leave.

“I'll see you later.” Liam called after him, obviously feeling a bit bad for telling him about us in such a bad way.

“Tonight, right?” Zayn inquired, not turning around to look at Liam.

“Yeah, Zayn.” Liam nodded, and with that Zayn trudded off.

“About tonight,” Liam, turning to look at me. I wasn't looking at him though, or paying attention to what he was saying. I was busy thinking about the sadness that Zayn held in his eyes.

“Yes?” I replied suddenly, looking up from the ground.

“Harry is having another party tonight.” Liam explained.

“Oh, that's a great idea. You know, concidering the last party went so well.” I quipped and rolled my eyes at the ridiculous idea.

“Yeah, anyways I promised Harry I would play my part as the sober one and help convince Louis to go. So, I was wonderi-” I held my hand up to cut him off.

“Wondering if I would accompany you to the party?” I guessed, raising my eyebrow at him.

“Exactly.” He nodded hopefully. My mind automatically thought of Zayn sitting in a chair with a red-solo cup and his sad eyes.

“Yes, I will come with you. Just let me call my mother and tell her that I'm going home with Izzy.” I told him and pulled my cell-phone out of my pocket.

“Great, thanks, Harper.” Liam replied happily.

“Harper, is everything okay?” My mother asked as soon as she answered the phone.

“Yeah, mom, I'm just fine.” I answered, “We ran into Izzy, and after our date Liam is going to drop me off at her house for the night, if that's okay with you?” I explained.

“Yeah, I guess that's okay with me. You aren't going to this boy's house, are you?” I snorted at the ridiculous question.

“Seriously, I'm interested in a person for the first time in my life and you think I'm going to have sexual intercourse with him. Until yesterday, you assumed I was a lesbian. Have some faith in me, mom.” I ranted into the cell-phone. I could see Liam's lips curving into an ammusing grin as I spoke.

“Right, I apologize, my little not lesbian. Be safe, don't have sex. I love you.” I couldn't help but giggle at my mother.

“I love you too.” I said before hanging up the phone and putting it back into my pocket.

“Looks like I'm set for the party.” I informed.
