Good Girl Gone Bad

When the best student in school meets a few boys, she'll have to make some big decisions. Who will she choose?

17. The Date

I wrapped the last piece of my straight hair around the hot curling iron, and let it fall down in a bouncy spiral as soon as it became hot. Izzy suggested that I curl my hair and wear something nice. Then she went on to insult my entire wardrobe. I stared at myself in the mirror, I was wearing an outfit that I had borrowed from Izzy, a sleeveless white and black striped shirt with a burgundy skirt.

"You look perfect." Izzy commented with a proud smirk, she was sitting on my bed with her legs crossed.

"I don't even recognize myself." I muttered and shook my head slowly.

"Well, I recognize you." Izzy shrugged and stood up.

"What if something happens and I go missing nobody will be able to recognize my body." I informed her with a disapproving frown.

"Then you better not go missing." She countered, ignoring my complaints as usual. She retrieved a tube of lip gloss from her bag and held out to me. I glanced down at the make-up then back at her and shook my head.

"C'mon, Harp, you have too!" Izzy whined giving my her best puppy dog face.

"No, Iz, I've done everything else for you, but I am not wearing make-up." I shook my head.

"Ugh, you're impossible! I hope Liam knows what he got himself into." Izzy chuckled and rolled her eyes.

"I am n-" I quickly went silent when the doorbell sounded. I quickly turned to Izzy and gave her nervous look. She picked up my purse and handed it to me.

"Your phone is in your purse, if the date goes bad text me. Don't be nervous though." Izzy assured me with an excited grin.

"I'm fine," I lied with a chuckle, "You look way more nervous than me." I told her before taking my things out of her hand. Izzy let out a loud squeal before kissing me on the cheek and shoving me lightly.

"You got this!" She encouraged with a happy smile.

I yanked open the front door, putting on my most convincing smile. Liam was standing there, one hand in his pocket, wearing a button up, blue shirt. His eyes trailed over my body in a not so secretive way.

"Wow, you look amazing." Liam commented as a smiled spread across his face quickly.

"Well, you can thank Izzy for that." I chuckled.

"Nah, I think it's all you." He shook his head and grabbed my hand to pull me in for a hug.

"I know you hate hugs," He told me as I slightly stiffened up, "but I can't resist." He added and pulled away leaving only an arm resting on my shoulder.

"Where to first?" I questioned and looked up at him.

"Well, me being the romantic I am I packed a picnic."  Liam stated with a proud smile.

"Oooh, I feel special. What did Mr.Payne pack for this picnic?" I asked as he opened the car door for me.

"Peanut butter sandwiches." He informed, his face was glowing red with embarrassment.

"As sweet as that sounds... I'm actually allergic." I informed quietly. He closed my car door and got in on the other side.

"Good thing I made pinwheel sandwiches and a fruit salad too." Liam told me as he put the key into the ignition.

"So, you can cook?" I asked in an impressed tone. Liam shrugged as he pulled out of the driveway.

"I actually had a little help making them." Liam mumbled. I let out a small laugh and looked over at him.

"Yeah?" he answered.

"Did your mom help you make food for our date?" I giggled.

"Shut up, it's not funny!" Liam shouted playfully.

"It's a little funny." I pointed out, trying to hold in my laughter.

Liam laid a blanket on the grass for a picnic in the city park.

"Liam, this is actually a really cute idea." I commented honestly as I watched him set up the picnic.

"And it's all for you." He added with a smile.

"Thanks," I thanked him genuinely. Liam sat down with his legs stretched and patted the blanket next to him.  I slowly sat down, tucking my legs under myself. He watched as I grabbed a pinwheel sandwich and took a bite out of it.

"This is good." I inquired while nodding my head.

"I know, my mom is an amazing cook." He chuckled.

"You'll have to thank her for me." I suggested and picked a berry out of the fruit salad and popped it into my mouth. Liam grabbed a blue berry and threw it into the air before tilting his head back and catching it in his mouth.

"Show off." I accused, he just flashed me a smirk.

"Lets see you do it then." He shot back, I grabbed another piece of fruit out of the salad and attempted the same thing he had done, but the sweet fruit fell against my nose.

"Good try!" Liam teased.

"Shut up, I was close." I said picked up another one and tossing it at him.

"Not close enough though." He remarked with a smirk.

When we finished the food, most of it ending up on the ground we packed up and decided to go on a walk.

"I'm really glad you came with me." Liam promised and laced his hand into mine.

"I am too." I mumbled, as we walked along the sides of the foggy pond. The air had grown thick, but it was sweet with the smell of blooming flowers.

"I love it out here." I commented and inhaled slowly.

"What are you guys doing here?" A far too familiar voice asked from behind me.
