20. Just Lie Down With Me, Princess.

I pushed open the white painted wooden door. Zayn was staggering behind me as I pulled him into the room.

“Sit down on the bed.” I instructed, letting go of his leather jacket.

“Why are you helping me?” Zayn question in a raspy voice as he sat down carefully on the edge of the king size bed.

Didn’t you hear any of my conversation with Harry?” I replied. I looked around the room, quite impressed with Harry’s household.

“That’s the bathroom.” Zayn said pointing to a door across from the bed.

“I assumed.” I murmured under my breath, opening the door quickly.

“The reason I asked why you were helping me is because usually you’re a lot more persistent. The Harper I know would’ve refused completely.” Zayn explained, as I grabbed a cloth off of the shelf in the corner of the bathroom.

“The Harper I know wouldn't have buckled.” Zayn continued in his same slurred voice. I turned the cold water on, holding only my index finger under the water until I found the desired temperature. After I wet the burgundy cloth, I walked back out to the bedroom.

“Then maybe you don’t actually know me.” I shrugged and sat down on the edge of the bed next to him.

“Maybe I don’t.” He replied, obviously not convinced. I picked the cloth up wiping the corners of his mouth softly.

“You went on a date with Liam?” Zayn asked suddenly.

“Correct.” I replied shortly, growing tense.

“Did you have a nice time?” Zayn asked, I let out a sigh and brought the wet cloth away from his face.

“There...there’s mouthwash in the bathroom, you should use it.” I informed nervously, trying to ignore his question.

“My breath isn’t that bad, is it?” He chuckled, running his large tan hands through his messy dark hair.

“I don’t know why you do this.” I replied, as he stood up to go to the bathroom.

“Do what?” Zayn questioned, messily making his way into the bathroom.

“Get so intoxicated.”

“Because it numbs my sadness.” He replied simply.

“What do you have to be sad about?” I scoffed. Zayn walked out of the bathroom, with a slightly offended look.

“Not everybody has a perfect life like you, princess.” Zayn countered, rolling his eyes.

“Perfect?” I recalled, a bit irritated.

“You look stunning, you are intelligent, your parents love you, you have no flaws.” He explained, his words slurring as he spoke.

“And you’re drunk.” I countered, it was the only argument I could think of on the spot.

“You should take your jacket off, you can’t sleep in that.” I told him, standing up slowly and making my way over to him.

“I know, I’m drunk…” Zayn began as I placed my hand on the shoulder of his jacket.

“But I… I won’t be drunk tomorrow, and I’ll still think you’re beautiful tomorrow.” I paused at his words, I couldn’t help but blush.

“You should really just go to sleep.” I attempted to brush his complement off.  I pulled his jacket off of his arms slowly. I could feel the weight of him staring at me from above. The sleeves of his Green Day shirt were chopped off, leaving his arms bare to show off his biceps. His tan skin was tightly pulled around his biceps.

“Is he your boyfriend now or something?” As soon as Zayn spoke, I jumped slightly. I felt as if he had caught me staring at him.

“Liam? No, we’ve only been on one date.” I shook my head slowly, staring up in his deep eyes.

“Did he kiss you?” Zayn whispered, moving his hand to my chin. All I could do was shake my head.

“Well, I would have.” Zayn informed shortly.

“You would?” I inquired, my voice shook as I spat out my words.

“I would, every chance I would have gotten.” Zayn answered, his voice sincere as possible.

“First, I would’ve tilted your chin up towards me. Then, I would placed both my hands on your face,” He paused as he moved his hands to both sides of my face.

“Don’t be nervous, princess.” He whispered, just before leaning down to my height and smashing his plump, pink lips onto mine.

Boy, was I glad I mentioned that mouthwash. I wasn’t thinking about that though, I was thinking about how his kiss was the perfect balance of rough and gentle. I was thinking about the fire the started when his lips first touched mine. His teeth gently grazed my bottom lip right before he bit down and pulled, causing me to gasp for air.

“Zayn,” I moaned quietly, as he let go. I was practically out of breath, nobody had ever kissed me like that before. He left his forehead against mine, his eyes were closed and he was breathing heavily.

“You should get some rest.” I suggested, in a quiet voice. Zayn opened his eyes and and moved his face on back far enough to be able to see my whole face.

“But then you would go.” He sighed reluctantly.

“Maybe I should.” I mumbled, he was staring so hard into my eyes. I felt like he was really looking at me.

“Please, don’t leave me, Harper.” Zayn begged. “Just lay down with me. If you fall asleep, it wouldn’t be the worst thing.” His breath was pleading desire laced with alcohol as it bounced against my skin.  I thought about it momentarily, but couldn’t resist.

“Fine.” I gave in, pulling away from his touch to crawl into the rather large bed.  I felt like I was crawling into the bed awfully fast, but it was only because standing so close to him was making my knees grow weak. Zayn smiled sloppily and laid down next to where I was under the blankets. He was obviously not a fan of the space between us.

“Cuddle with me, princess.” He pleaded, scooping me up and pulling me closer to him. I didn’t restrain though, I placed my head on his hard, muscular chest and closed my eyes.

“You have no idea how perfect this feels.” Zayn told me in a hushed tone.

“Goodnight, Zayn.” was the only thing I could manage to muster out without letting my voice shake.
