52. Memories

***Beth's POV***

"Hey Liam, i'm going to go visit my house. I think i'll also go see my mum." I told him. "I kinda wanna get my car too."

"Do you want me to drive you to your house?" He asked.

"Would you?" I asked him.

"Of course." He smiled.

He grabbed his car keys and we walked out to the car and got in. Liam pulled out of the driveway.

"We haven't been to your house in a few months." He said.

"I know... since that day..."I mumbled.

"Look at the bright side. Your father cant hurt you anymore." He told me.

"I know. Its just scary." I sighed.

Liam drove for a while before he reached my house. We got out and I stared at my lonely, empty house. I took a deep breath and walked up the path to the front door.

"Do you want me to come with you?" Liam asked.

I turned. "Well i'm not going into a creepy empty house alone!"

He grinned and followed me up to the front door. I took out my keys and unlocked it revealing the foyer that held so many memories. I slowly stepped in and I could hear my feet pound on the floor with every step I took. I looked around at the now cobweb covered walls and the dusty floors.

"It seems so sad in here." I whispered.

"Well lets see if we can bring this place back to life. Remember when I would chase you down the stairs and that one time I slipped on the floor, right where we're standing while trying to chase you." He asked.

"And instead of helping you up I just laughed." I grinned.

And remember when we slid down the handrails?" He asked.

"That was fun." I grinned. "But we were like 7."

Liam walked up the stairs and sat on the railing. "And we're both almost 19 now. Its never to late to act like a kid again Beth."

He slid down the railing and grinned. I smirked at him and walked up the other staircase of the stairs and sat on the railing. I looked down.

"Ugh. I was so fearless when we were younger!" I laughed.

I slowly slid down and my feet hit the wood floor. Liam took my hand and pulled me to the living room. He pointed to the old wooden chest.

"And remember when we were playing hide and seek and I hid in there and it took me three hours to find you?" He asked.

He picked up the pillows on the couch. "Remember the countless pillow fights?"

I nodded and picked up a pillow. I grinned at Liam and hit him with it. He immediately began hitting me back.

"See? There are happy memories still in this house. You just need to dig deep to find them." He told me.

He took my hand again and pulled me into the kitchen. "And the time we tried to make chocolate cake for your mums birthday but ended up covering each other head to toe in cake batter."

"And you licked the cake batter off my nose." I blushed.

"Yeah well you licked it off my forehead." He smirked.

He opened the cabinet that held the pots and pans. "And remember when we made these pots into drums, waking up your parents?"

"Remember our flour fights? When we were washing dishes we would throw handfuls of soap bubbles at each other?" He said.

Taking my hand again, he led me into the dining room.

"Remember putting sheets over this table and covering the sides. We pretended that we were in a cave and there were dinosaurs outside the cave." He grinned. "Remember when our families spent Thanksgiving here and during the meal you and I snuck under the table almost the entire meal without anyone noticing?"

I grinned widely. "They all thought we had gone to the bathroom. We also tied your dads shoelaces together."

He grinned. "Now that was funny, when he tried to walk he looked like a penguin."

He took my hand again and led me up the stairs to the top. "Remember sitting up here when my parents came to pick me up and watching your parents talk to mine?"

I nodded. He pulled me into the bathroom. "And remember taking a bath in our swimsuits because it was to cold to go swimming in a pool? And that time we made silly faces in the bathroom mirror and took pictures? I still have those pictures."

He led me to my fathers office next. "Remember when I would sit in your fathers chair and pretend to be the boss? Or we would hide under his desk and tell ghost stories?"

He led me to my parents room next. "And the time when both of our parents were going out and they left us with this annoying babysitter? And we jumped on this bed and had a pillow fight causing feathers to go everywhere? The babysitter was yelling at us to stop the entire time." He grinned.

He led me to the library next. "In this room we would read each other stories or just tell each other stories about life. He led me over to the rocking chair and I sat down.

"Remember the story I told you about wanting to be a sprinter in the Olympics?" He asked.

"Yeah." I said.

"Its funny because it almost came true. We were 6 when I told that story." He smiled. "In this room was also the first time I heard you sing. I had gone to the bathroom and when I was coming back I heard you singing A Drop In The Ocean. I thought your voice was the most beautiful thing I had ever heard. Its part of what made me fall in love with you."

I followed him into my bedroom next.

"And this room has the most memories. The pillow fights, the ghost story telling under the sheet with the flashlight. When we pained the walls in here, when we put puzzles together, the pictures we took. Most of the things we did, we did in here."

He took my hand and led me down the stairs and outside.

"Remember when we would sit on the porch in the summer and drink lemonade and eat brownies? And when we would play in the pool or roll down the hill. Playing tag with our friends, the snow ball fights, the snow angles. We even climbed those trees a few times." He said.

He took my hands into his. "See Beth, this house may have some dark memories, but think of all those memories we shared together. All of those memories made me fall in love with you. And the fact that we met when we were 5 years old and became best friends instantly, and here we are today, still best friends and in love, its remarkable. Considering everything both of us have been through, its almost like a dream."

I didn't say anything, I just pressed my lips to his. "You made me realize the bright light in all this darkness. You not only made all of these memories come back but you made me relive them. Those were some of the happiest moments in my life."

He held me close to him and kissed me passionately. "I love you Elizabeth Leah Ashton."

"I love you Liam James Payne."

"Forever."

"And Always."
