4. Cloudy Days.

Chapter 4.
Cloudy Days.

Rosia’s P.O.V

I didn't like the idea of my son wanting to fulfill his duties, but if he wanted to then, he would and he has.

“Aren’t you going to say something to him about this?” I say standing up. I wasn’t happy about this one bit! “Mario!” I yell at him this time, he wasn’t paying attention.

“What my cherish?” He asked me, dazed from coming out of thought.

“Aren’t you going to say anything to our son about this? He knows nothing about protecting someone!” I explain, I know whatever we were to say to our son, it wouldn’t work. Once his mind is made up, it can’t be undone.

“Rosia, you know whatever we say it won’t change his mind. Let the kid be for a while, he truly likes this girl” He replies back. I know he liked her, we like her to, it’s just my baby boy protecting himself and someone else.

A few hours passed and I was washing up, I had been baking, I bake whenever I am stressed or worried. I just finished making Brownies, banana muffins and hazelnut slice. I began scrubbing a plate very harshly, my eyes were watering up, and I began sniffling, not that I have stopped for an hour on end.
I felt two hands slowly wrap around me, one around my waist the other over my hand; his voice spoke softly, “Rosia, calma giù bella”, he pulled me away from the kitchen sink, my hands soapy and slippery

He pulled me into his embrace and held me tight.

We stayed there for a few minutes, I gathered my thoughts back to reality, I stopped crying, and I gave in. I knew my son wouldn’t change his mind, once an angels mind was set, it stayed that way.

“He will be fine Rosia” Mario said again, his soothing voice echoed in the soundless kitchen. I nodded. I went to get up out of his lap and to carrying with the dishes, but his grasp wouldn’t collapse.

“Mario… Let me go” I laugh, slightly; I felt a soft kiss on my left rosy cheek, and another one of my right. “Mario!” I exclaim.

“Hmm sì il mio amore?” He asked. His Italian voice getting the better of me, I sighed after he kissed my cheek a few more times.

“Basta Mario!” I exclaimed again, breaking free of his grasp.

“Oh, no fun!” He said, pouting his lips, crossing his arms and staring at me. ‘Diddums’ I mouth at him, smiling wickedly. Just as I put my hands back in the now cold water, I heard the front door click open, I look at Mario, we both nodded.

Taking the gloves off I slowly make my way to the front entrance, there we stood, Mario, our son, and me.
Angelo stood there, in the middle of the doorway, letting the easy morning breeze come pouring through the door, he looked at us, no regret or remorse of what decision he had just made.

“Son. What’s that in your hand?” Mario asked, stern voice, arms still crossed, my eyes wandered down to Angelo’s left hand, he was holding a scroll, Angelo’s eyes wandered with mine.

“Paper” He answered. We nodded, “We aren’t that stupid Angelo!” I say to him, I took a step and snatched that piece of paper out of his hands. I handed it to Mario, which whom looked at me, then Angelo.

Angelo stood there looking at us both and nodded, like he didn’t have a care in the world.

Mario cleared his throat and unravelled the new bounded paper letting it fall, and so he started.

“I Angelo Constino, take full responsibilities and duties to protect the one, I love and trust.” Mario started, this was really nerve racking!

“I swear on the oath of Guardians, that I will love, nurture and protect Molly Harris. No matter how many times she will, punch, throw me out and yell at me, I promise I will always stay by her side. I promise I will never leave her during a difficult, hard time. I promise that our guardian house is open at all times for her. I will give her whatever she desires.”
He continued, it has gotten to the point where I just want him to skip to the end. So that’s exactly what I say.

“Mario for cheesecake sakes. Skip to the end!” He nodded, his eyes traced to the end of the scroll, lingering there for a while, he took a breath in then sighed.

“And I hope with all my heart, my parents agree, and believe in me. I hope I make them proud to receive my guardian wings; I want them to believe I am doing what is right. And that I will do everything in my will power to keep Molly and myself happy and safe,” He read. I knew this was it. We had no choice but to sign, let Molly sign then wait. Wait for my son’s dangerous new life is handed out to him on a silver platter.

“Right. Time to sign then love.” Mario said, handing me his black ballpoint pen. I didn’t know he had already signed it.

I sighed bent down slightly and engraved my signature in black pen, that slowly went from black to a shimmering gold then back again.

“Thank you” I heard someone say, it’s not before I realise the front door is open again, the scroll, pen and my son gone.

“I wonder how this is going to play out now” Mario sighed behind me.

He was going to find Molly. I hope this was going to end good and not badly, school started in two weeks, and we nor David and Christine would want their daughter being afraid of Angelo.
But truth being there is more than one Guardian family living in this town.

“Let’s just hope she takes this news, normal than others.” I say.
“She will” Mario reassured me. And I just nodded.

Molly’s POV

It’s been an hour since Angelo dropped me home from the hospital, and there I sat, on the balcony overlooking the dark misty clouds. I decided it was getting a little chilly so I got off of the ground, walked back into my room and locked to the doors to the balcony.

I wandered down-stairs and into the kitchen, turning the kettle on, on my way to the cupboard. I pulled out the milo tin, deciding I needed a good kick; I put two tablespoons of milo, and three teaspoons of sugar into a cup. The kettle clicked off, I grabbed it and poured in the steamy water, then a bit of milk, stirred it all together… a nice chocolate smell came from my cup.

I wandered back to my room, for myself to get a surprise.
The warm cup of milo still in my hands I stared at the figure in front of me, well not a figure I knew exactly who it was.

“Angelo how the hell did you get in here?” I asked, actually I didn’t really care he was here, I liked him, I wanted him to be here.

“”Sorry” He said, bowing his head down, he didn’t think I wanted him here? That’s not true though.

“Why be sorry? I wanted to see you.” I say, sitting my mug on the bedside counter, he lifted his head again, a bright happy smile on his face, paper in his hands.

I motioned my finger to his hands, a curious look on my face; his eyes followed mine,

“Oh yes! The reason I am here. Molly I need to tell you something. Something you must promise me to keep a secret. Can you do that for me?” He asks, we sat on my bed, he unravelled the piece of paper which turned out to be a scroll…

“Do you remember the night you and your parents came to our house for dinner?” He asks, I nodded, he began again…

“You said you saw a person upstairs, then you got into trouble because we claimed no on was there. Well there was, and we knew that, its just we have been sworn to secrecy.” He said, I nodded
I bet my facial expressions are bland, nothing and confusion, what was he trying to tell me.

I picked the scroll up and started to read it. I read the entire thing, everything was silent.

After reading the scroll, I look at Angelo, then back to the scroll then Angelo again.

“Are you for real?” I ask, he nodded. “What is this world like that we live in?” I ask again, he smiled.

“A story for another time. But I need an answer and a signature. Will you allow me to be your personal guardian Molly?” He asked, hesitant in his voice. The smile I had on my face disappeared, he nodded.
Then it reappeared, hope glistening in his eyes.

“Yes Angelo I would like that!” I say, he smiles, a little squeal escaping from us both, he pulls me into a hug and that’s how we stayed.
