Chapter 9.
Trick or Treat darling?

Angelo’s P.O.V

"We have walked down two streets Angelo!!! When can the scaring begin?" She complained for the fiftieth time tonight. I stopped in my tracks and stared at her,

"Be patient, I'm taking you to a creepy neighborhood" I say a devilish smirk playing on my lips.

"Hey now, your an angel, you shouldn't have a devils smirk on them lips!" She exclaimed slapping my bare chest as she continue to walk ahead. I shook my head and chased after her, I looked at her as we walked, a cute, small smile that she had on her face made her features stand out more. Her cheekbones were more prominent; her emerald eyes sparkled as the sun settled down into the horizon, her freckles were hidden underneath the little make-up she wore.

“Angelo?” A voice called out, I turned around to see my group of friends, all dressed in their costumes, and fake carved out pumpkins to collect the candy in.

“Amber?” I asked, she looked a lot different now, what happened to the blonde curly hair? And the cute curves?

“No its Danielle withers you idiot!” She says sarcastically, huffing and putting her hands on her hips dramatically.

“It’s been a while,” they say in sync. I give a low chuckle and nodded. I walked over to them rubbing the back of my neck with my hand.

“Yea, it has guys, since the end of school.” I say hugging Jamie last.

“Damn right it has! Where ya been?” Jamie asked hugging me back,

“Busy with work” Is all I said and they nodded, we stood there talking for a while and in the meantime they asked me come to one of our good friends Halloween party at his place, it was good to see my friends again, to be honest it’s been a quite and boring long holidays, well with the exception of meeting Molly. Shit Molly, I forgot to introduce her, some guardian I am…

“Guys, I want you to meet Molly” I said turning around to greet them with Molly, an apologetic look on my face, ready to show her I was sorry for her standing here close to an hour being quite as a mouse. But instead when I turned around I wasn’t greeted with Molly I was greeted with the light post where Molly once occupied.

“Molly, shit.” I cursed, I’d forgotten all about her and I didn’t even notice she had left. She could be lost, hurt and cold; I started to have a mini freak out.

“Don’t worry Angelo, you live two streets away, she should remember that, if she decided to go home” I say under my breath looking around incase she went and sat down.

“Oh you mean that creepy girl who was standing behind you? Yeah dude she left about 20 minutes ago” Damian says holding onto his now cold girlfriend, I growled when he called her creepy. ‘She’ll be fine’ I repeated over and over again in my head.

“Angelo you coming to the party?” Georgia asked, hope laced in her voice.

“Give me twenty minutes and Ill meet you guys at his place,” I said, they nodded as I walked passed them, the guys patted my back as I sped past them.

“Lord help me if something happens to Molly, after bloody all I am her flipping guardian” I mutter as I ran towards the house.

“And what a good job you are doing, right Angelo?” She asked, no not Molly but Grace. I whipped my head around and looked at her straight in the eye and groaned.

“You know where she is Grace. I know you do, so please enlighten me” I plead, Grace stops in her tracks me slowly following…

“Yes? She’s where?” I ask, tears brimming my eyes… I know what you are thinking,

‘You’re her damn guardian how can you not know where she is?’ well all I can say to you is shut up. Just because I’m a guardian, I’m not of age; I can’t look into people’s minds like the elders can. Which is kind of the downside… I mean who wouldn’t want to look into people’s minds just to see, where they are and what they are thinking. I know you might say it’s wrong, and weird but you can choose what minds to look read. Anyway.

“Angelo…?” She calmly calls but it doesn’t fail me that I can her a tint of worry in her voice.

“Yes, sorry. I had an inner battle with my one sided mind, where is she? Please?” I plead, I knew she would tell me; she’d have to eventually…

“Think long and hard, it’s the place where her world went dark, it’s cold, wet and slightly exotic. It’s the place where you first noticed it.” At that point I was staring ahead, trying to take in what she was saying, but it didn’t render, what did she mean by, ‘The place where I first noticed?’

“But Grace, what do you mean! That doesn’t help, it’s a damn riddle, and I don’t have time for Riddles Grace” I say, loosing patience. Only to look back and see she wasn’t there. She’d left me in my time of need.

After all this time I was being angry with Grace for just leaving me, I realized I was walking up the pavement to Molly’s house.

“Molly, you in there?”  I ask, as my fist came in contact with the wood door, I waited a minute but not answer. “Molly?” I call out again, this time calmer, less worried. Well that was until she didn’t answer once again.

Sighing I went around to where her balcony is and made my way up it and tried the doors. But knowing I’d probably have no luck, I was right,

“Looks like today isn’t my lucky day.”

I listened for movements inside her house, but nothing. Not one thing. I figured she wasn’t here, nor in my parents house either, since she’d have no way to get in.

Frustrated I exclaimed, “Molly where are you?”

I kept replaying what Grace said over and over again, ‘It’s the place where you first noticed it’ “Where I first noticed what though?”

‘Think’ my brain kept chanting, ‘think’, ‘think’, ‘think’…

“No, she wouldn’t, would she?” I merely said to myself, not expecting anyone to answer.

“Oh, but Angelo, she did…” I turned my head and noticed Grace sitting on the railing of the balcony, a small, sad smile planted on her face.

“Thank you so, so much Grace, really I don’t think I would’ve looked or even thought of that. Grace Thank you so much, I couldn’t ask for a better guardian. I’m glad I didn’t say no to you, like… Like your first guardian” I say softly, I heard her gasp a little and a hand placed on my shoulder.

“That’s the nicest thing anybody has said to me Angelo, but I must say this with meaning. Go get the girl you have fallen deeply in love with my angel.”

And so I did. I changed into my angel form on her Balcony and flew to the destination I hoped to never see again. The swamp….

The place where I had found Molly the night after that horrid dinner, I just hope she was still breathing and warm to touch. I just hope she wasn’t half emerged in the water this time ‘round.
