Wizarding Week

Louise has always dreamt of going somewhere completely new, and when her school organises an exchange with a mysterious school called Hogwarts, it's her perfect moment. Louise doesn't realise the magic behind the doors of Hogwarts, and maybe, just maybe, she might even fit in with the people there more.

21. New Start.

It had been two weeks since my old school left, I was getting slightly homesick, but not much. Harry, Ron and Hermione were keeping me busy, as I was in their year, I had missed a lot of school. This was good because it focused my mind on other things rather than Draco. I'd been avoiding him, the only encounter we'd had was when he spat at me in the corridor, which I responded with tripping him up. Classic non magical trip did just the trick. He was livid.

We were sat in the common room, Ginny and Harry were cuddling in the corner, which was making Ron awkward, which meant he was fidgeting. Hermione was getting angrier and angrier about this as she was trying to study for her upcoming tests.

"Ronald won't you sit still? I'm trying to learn how to sew up dresses with my wand." She snapped, glaring at him over her very large book.

Ron's ears turned red, "I can't help it." He glanced over towards Harry and Ginny, "It's awkward." He moaned.

"Go down to the Great Hall and eat something then, it must be nearly dinner." Hermione looked over at me, "Take him downstairs will you?"

I sighed and got up, stretching my hand out to Ron to help him up, he accepted, glaring at Hermione. She ignored him, and went back to her magical sewing book.

I hadn't spent that much time on my own with Ron, he either had Quidditch practise or Harry and Hermione were there as well. I was quite intrigued by him and Hermione's friendship.

"So," Ron said awkwardly into the silence, "Have you played quidditch yet?"

I had secretly been dying to try it, but no one had offered to take me, "No, but I really want to." I realised that had sounded like a hint, "I probably would be rubbish though."

He patted me on the back, "Hey I'm sure you wouldn't be, you can't be as bad as Hermione that's for sure." He looked up suddenly like he'd had a brilliant idea, "Wait. Why don't we go down there now and you can have a go? The Slytherin's are practising, but they won't take up the whole pitch!" He looked really excited, I couldn't say no.

"Yeah, sure, why not? I apologise in advance though because I will fall off!" We high-fived and walked towards the pitch together, laughing and chatting, it was no longer awkward.

I hadn't been down to the pitch yet, I'd kinda been putting it off, I didn't want to look stupid in front of anyone, especially not my new friends. It was embarrassing enough that I hardly knew any spells. Last week, Hermione had taken me on a special trip to Diagon Alley to buy my wand, we had special permission to go out during school time to get it.

As we got the pitch, it was half empty, a group of people were standing in a circle on the ground near the Sytherin side. I assumed they were the Slytherin team, my heart leapt slightly, Draco could be there.

Ron motioned his wand in the air, "Accio broom." he said into the darkness. A minute later, a slightly old looking broom came flying into Ron's hand.

He looked embarrassed, "Sorry, it's not as good as Harry's, but it'll have to do."

I grinned at him, patting him on the shoulder, "It's perfect."

The Slytherin's had spotted us by now, and one of them, who looked like the captain, was coming over to us, looking angry.

"Weasley." He snarled, "This is our practise time, get that filthy little muggle of our pitch." He spat at the ground near my feet, I flinched, shuffling behind Ron.

Ron held his hands up, looking slightly scared, the edges of his ears had started to go red, "Hey, hey, you don't need the whole pitch do you? We're only going to be a few minutes."

Before the captain could open his mouth again, I gathered all the courage I could and stepped out in front of Ron.

"Look, whatever-your-name-is we're not harming anyone by being here, all I want to do is ride on a broomstick. So please go away back to your disgusting friends." I held his gaze, giving him my best glare.

He looked at me for a few seconds, "Fine. You have ten minutes. No more." He turned around and walked back to his team.

Ron let out a large sigh of relief, "Bloody hell, well done Louise. Thought he was gonna kill us then." He laughed, "Right, let's get you on this broom."

It was difficult to get on at first, but luckily I was wearing suitable clothing, I gripped the broom tightly at the top, my feet still firmly on the ground.

"This isn't the most comfortable thing to sit on." I laughed, keeping one hand on the broom and using the other to tie up my hair in a ponytail.

"Think about how it is for boys!" Ron said, looking amused. Behind him, the Slytherin's had disbanded a little, in the distance I saw a platinum blonde head that I knew all too well.

That was it, I had to show Draco that I didn't care, even if I did. This was my one chance to prove that I could be good at something in the Wizarding World. He may not remember me, or what we had, but I could show him what he was missing.

With that, I kicked off from the ground, at first I wobbled slightly, nearly falling off a few times and squealing at Ron to help me. After about a minute, I had steadied myself and was no longer wobbling. I soared upwards, higher and higher until I was the same height as the tall stands where the teachers sat in quidditch games. The breeze made my long hair billow out behind me. I felt free, free from all the responsibilities, school, friends, even Draco. I looked down for a second, and spotted a platinum blonde head looking up at me with astonishment. I could actually fly, this was a magical thing I could actually do! I could already hear a plan forming inside my head, one that would get me accepted into this school once and for all, and I may actually be able to get Draco back.
