Our Love Story

Princess Bethany and her sister, Princess Sophie have the definition of a perfect life according to everyone else but themselves. But when Bethany falls for Harry and Sophie falls for Niall from One Direction, will they be able to keep the peace, or will a huge family feud erupt, causing problems throughout the kingdom?

18. 18

When I got downstairs, people in masks were everywhere. I knew people wouldn’t recognize me and I knew my parents took that to their advantage; especially with Aiden. He would be looking for me and I’d be off with Harry somewhere.

“Okay, so…where are they?” I shrugged when Sophie came up next to me.

“I won’t know who Harry is until 11…”

“Damn you, Bethany.” Sophie slurred under her breath so no one heard us.

“What can I say? I know this will go to the ungodly hours of five in the morning.” Sophie shrugged and nodded.

“That’s true.” I giggled and grabbed her hand.

“I think…we need to dance.” Sophie laughed as I pulled her off to the dance floor. Sophie and I danced and drank the night away and when I glanced up at the clock, I realized it was only a few minutes until 11. “SOPHIE!” I gasped, grabbing both her hands, still staring at the clock.

“It’s almost 11!”

“GO!” Sophie yelled to me, pushing me away. I lifted my dress slightly so I wouldn’t trip and I made my way to the center of the dance floor. I was walking slowly so I didn’t seem too eager but part of me wanted to break into a sprint and go running to him.

When I got there, I saw Harry’s curls peaking out around his mask. I gasped at how beautiful he looked in his black tux. I bit my lip and made my way closer to him. I tapped his shoulder and curtsied.

“Good evening, Harry.” I whispered, making him smile.

“Bethany.” He bowed slightly and offered me his arm.

“I need to ask you a favor…” I asked, leaning close to him.

“What is it?”

“Sophie wants to find Niall…” Harry laughed and nodded.

“Come with me to get Niall, and then we can find Sophie.” I nodded and followed Harry off to find Niall.

“Is that him?” I pointed to a blonde boy in an all white tux, drinking something.

“You’re good.” Harry said. I smiled proudly and nodded.

“I win!” Harry laughed heartily as we walked up to him.

“Niall, Sophie wants to see you.”

“Where is she?” Niall asked happily.

“This way.” I escorted them both to where Sophie was waiting. “Sophie, here’s Niall.” Sophie smiled and curtsied at Niall, who returned the bow.

“Okay, you kids have fun.” Harry joked. “We’re going to go on a walk.” I smiled as Harry led me through people, leaving Niall and Sophie alone.

“You look nice.” I said to Niall, who smiled at me.

“And you look absolutely beautiful.” Niall whispered, stepping closer to me. I blushed and looked down, smiling. “I’ve missed you, you know. I haven’t been able to get you off my mind.” I looked back up and noticed how close Niall was to me. I stumbled back out of surprise and Niall caught me in his arms.

“Oh wow…I’m such a klutz.” I said nervously, making Niall smile weakly.

“You’re a beautiful klutz.” I giggled nervously again and nodded.

“You’re full of compliments tonight, aren’t you?”

“To be honest, I’m kind of drunk too so…” I giggled at Niall’s drunken honesty.

“Well that explains the smell of liquor on you, sir Niall.”

“Oh well, you can’t tell me you haven’t been drinking either, Sophie.”

“What if I have?” Niall smiled at me, making me smile back.

“If you have been drinking, you’d be okay with this…” Niall placed one hand on my cheek, making me blush. I knew what was coming and I have been waiting for it, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted the drunken Niall to kiss me as much as I wanted the sober Niall to kiss me.

When I felt his lips brush mine, I knew I didn’t care whether he was drunk or sober at this point. I needed the kiss and I was going to get it. I leaned in a little more and our lips finally collided setting butterflies off in my head.

When we pulled away, we were both breathing hard; just after one kiss. He grabbed my hands and smiled at me.

“Shall we dance?” I laughed and nodded as he dragged me off to the dance floor.

Harry led me back to the garden where we had our walk at the wedding. We were holding hands with our fingers intertwined. Our hips were bumping, we were so close and it all felt so right.

“You know, this feels so perfect.” I whispered.

“It does, I must agree.” Harry said, nodding. “And the stars are out…” Harry pointed up, making me look up at the sky. The stars twinkled above us brightly, making me smile. Everything about this situation was beautifully perfect.

“I wonder how Niall and Sophie are doing…” I wondered aloud, changing the subject to something more comfortable.

“I’m sure they’re just fine, as we are.” I nodded and bit my lip, tasting the gloss. We kept walking until we reached a bench where we sat down. We were both quiet, just holding hands, and looking at the stars.

“You look very handsome tonight.” I finally whispered, making Harry laugh quietly.

“And you…my princess, look breath-taking.” I inhaled sharply and looked at him. Harry was already looking at me and the way he was looking at me created butterflies in my stomach. He put his index finger under my chin and scooted closer to me and slowly let our lips meet.

When we pulled apart from each other, we both stared into each others’ eyes for a few more moments before going back for another kiss and another…
