Sophie:

It was almost four in the morning and Bethany still wasn’t back. It was getting me worried since I was so close to falling asleep. I had multiple cups of coffee but I knew it would wear off at some point. Just as I was about to fall asleep, there was a knock at the window making me jump. I flew off the bed and pushed the window open so I could help pull Bethany in.

“I’m so sorry! Harry and I fell asleep!”

“Why are you covered in paint…? I asked slowly, unsure if I wanted to know the answer or not.

“We played paint twister.” Bethany smiled and her eyes seemed to sparkle for the first time in a long time.

“I’m so jealous; I wish I could’ve gone with you…”

“Next time I promise I’ll bring you.” I smiled as Bethany kissed me goodnight before walking off to her bedroom. I fell back onto my bed, finally happy that I was able to sleep.

Bethany:

As I walked into my bathroom, I had the biggest smile on my face. I had never had so much fun in my life. I quickly turned the shower on, stepped in with all my clothes on, washed all the paint out, and got out so I didn’t wake anyone up with the shower running. I stashed the clothes in a corner and walked over to my bed, falling over, and passing out immediately.

I woke up around noon, still tired from my long night out. I rolled out of bed and got dressed quickly, knowing mother would be angry for me sleeping so long. I slipped on my white blouse with a black lace collar and my peach ruffled high-waisted skirt with an attached a black bow belt. I slipped on my black beads with black pumps and scurried outside for noon-time tea.

“Nice of you to join us.” My mother said as I slipped my hair up into a sock bun.

“I’m very sorry. I over slept.”

“Clearly; we sent Maria up to wake you up three times and neither time you even moved.”

“I’m so very sorry.”

“A princess never apologizes.” I nodded as my chair was pulled out for me. I sat down and waited for my tea to be poured.

“We’re going out to town today, Bethany.” Sophie said to me. I turned to her and gave her an odd look.

“Why?”

“Momma is having the annual masquerade ball in a couple weeks. We need to get our dresses fitted.”

“Oh, of course.”

“Aiden will obviously be your date.” My mother said as a matter of factly.

“Of course; who else would be?”

“I just don’t want you getting your hopes up with finding your own love.”

“I couldn’t ever.” I whispered, sipping my tea slowly. Sophie looked at me and all I could do was give her a sad look. I knew mother would never approve of me being seen with Harry, so there was no way I was even going to bring it up and start a feud. The last thing I wanted was to lose my place in line over a boy that would forget about me soon enough.
