HGpanda!!!!! GIVE HER A ROUND OF APPLAUSE! NICE WORK!

-Shelby-

I open my eyes and look at the clock. 1:42 in the morning. I feel Tyler's arm around my waist. Will he wake up if I move? Nah, he's drunk.

I move carefully off the bed and quietly open the doors, just in case. I throw on a hoodie and a pair of skinny jeans and head out. I look up and down the sidewalk by Tyler's house and try to remember the way to Sammy's Cafe. It's open 24/7, so I hang out there a lot. All of my close friends know where to find me, meaning Tyler will have no idea where I went when he wakes up.

I open the door to Sammy's Bakery and Tea Shop and hear the usual little bell ring. Harry, the usual late night waitor pops his head up over the dessert counter.

"Hey, Shelby." He smiles as he wipes the glass with his rag.

"Hey. The usual, Harry." I sit down in my usual spot and Harry comes and slides into the seat on the other side of the booth. He puts my cup of tea in front of me and his emerald green eyes study my face.

"What's up, Sunshine?" He says sarcastically.

"Oh, hush." I try to force a smile.

"Ok, what'd Tyler do?" He leans forward and waits for a reply. My lips seperate to speak, but all that comes out are tears. He comes to my side of the booth and I put my head against his shoulder as I cry.

"I feel like an idiot." I laugh quietly as I wipe my eyes and face.

"Don't, Sunshine." He says as his thumb clears away the last tear.

"Why do you call me 'Sunshine' when I'm never happy?" I say quietly, still recovering.

"Because I know that some day you'll find a reason to be happy." He smiles down at me. We switch spots so that Harry leans against the window and I lean against him. I drink my tea as he strokes my arm.

"This seems like a fun place to work." I say, trying to break the silence.

"Hmm? Yeah, it is." I guess I brought him out of a train of thought.

"Are you hiring? I need money for my own apartment, you know."

"Hmm, hiring.." He thinks it over in his mind. "I'm sure Sam himself would want you to work here." He emphasises 'himself.'

"Oh, hush" I joke around. I put my tea cup on the table and turn to face Harry.

"So, what first?" I say, excited.

"You can start by cleaning up a lazy customer's tea cup." He points to my tea cup.

"Oh, right, sorry." I laugh as I pick it up and put it in the dish bin.

"Shelby?" Harry calls my name as he comes out from the back room.

"Yeah?" I say.

"Here, you'll need one." He hands me an apron and a chef's hat.

"This is so cool." I smile and pose in my apron and hat.

"Gorgeous! Sure you don't want to model the uniforms instead?" He laughs.

"Hush!" I laugh.

The bell rings. I peak through the dessert glass and recognise the shoes right away. Tyler. I crawl to the back and listen as Harry walks to the front.

"Welcome to Sammy's Bakery and Tea Shop, what do you want?" I hear Harry say with a little anger.

"Woah, dude. Chill." I see Tyler put his hands up. "I want a bagel and a tea...to go." Relief spreads through me.

Harry hands him the stuff and takes the money.

"By the way," Tyler says," If you see my girlfriend, Shelby, tell her to be home for dinner, we're having steak." He says, almost with some sadness. I take off my apron and hat and head out the back door with some coffee from a different place. I walk slowly until I see Tyler. I'd rather see him at first in public, not at his house. He sees me and quickly walks towards me. I stop in front of the Shop and look at him as he reaches me.

"Shelby, where were you last night?" He says a little harshly.

"I went over to a friend's house."

"No, you didn't." I can hear the irritation growing in his voice as he reaches in his pocket and shows me my phone.

"How would you know?"

"First, you always ask me first. Second, you  call before going over. No recent calls in this."

"I was out, ok?" I walk past him, but he grabs my arm.

"Shelby." He pulls me back and leans towards me. "Just stay home, ok?" He gives me a kiss and releases my arm. He takes my hand in his and we walk to his car.

He turns off his radio as the car turns on and we start heading back to his place.

"I got a bagel, want it?" He hands me the bag.

"Why'd you get it if you weren't hungry?"

"Just wanted to meet Styles. I was told that you hang out with him a lot." His grip tightens on the wheel to the point where his knuckles turn white.

"Oh, him? Yeah, we're casual friends." I try to say without any emotion, like it's nothing.

"Good, 'cause you're not hanging with him. Glad I'm not ripping you from a best friend or anything." He says as he puts his arm around me. I sit closer to him to reassure him.

"Tyler, I-"

"Shelby, don't make this hard when it doesn't need to be." He says, cutting me off from my sentence. "It's over, ok?" I wish he was talking about our relationship.

"We're friends, though. We just talk about the weather and his girlfriends!"

"I don't care! He's a guy."

"You've decided, haven't you?" I start to get angry.

"Yes, so shut up." He says harshly, ending the conversation.
