13. Chapter twelve

When Riley had told me about Cameron, he sounded really sweet. When I met him, I knew that he was the one for Riley. Even though I might have had a crush on him, a little tiny one, I knew that he and Riley would be together. The way that they looked at each other was special, and I pictured them being old, still happily married, and looking at each other the way they do now.

When Kurt and I arrived to the park, Riley and Cameron hadn't arrived yet, so we decided to get something to drink. We walked to the food stand and ordered two bottles of water. The attendant looked at us smiling as we ordered our beverages, and when we were about to pay, the man, who looked about 60 years old, asked us if we were dating.

"No, we're not," I said, and Kurt and I chuckled. The man didn't get the joke, obviously, so I explained we were siblings.

"Oh, I see," he laughed. "Anyways," he added, "if you weren't, you'd make a cute couple."

Kurt and I looked at each other, then he winked at me in a teaser way. We thanked the man after paying for the water and sat in the meeting bench. We called it that because every time we went to that park, we sat in the same bench, a wood bench placed near an oak-tree. I started to think, Kurt would be a great boyfriend. I love him, he's one of my two best friends. Definitely, the girl that won his heart, would be very lucky. He's a complete gentleman, he's really funny, he's also a genius, plus, I consider him to be handsome. He has straight brunette hair and honey coloured eyes. He looks a lot like me, actually, since we're twins.

"There they are," Kurt said standing up.

Speaking of couples, I said to myself. Don't get me wrong, I love them being together. We started walking towards them, and I noticed there was another guy walking by their side. I figured he would be gone in a second, but he didn't. And I'm glad he didn't.

The three of them looked happy, and when we met, I looked at the new guy. He was gorgeous, he had wavy brown hair and green eyes.

"Hey, guys," Cameron said smiling.

"Hey," Kurt and I replied in unison. Riley and the guy giggled, and he introduced himself.

"I'm Cody," he said looking at me. His voice was so beautiful, I was breathless.

"He's my new neighbour," Riley explained. "Cody, this is Zoey," she said referring to me, "and this is Kurt," she said referring to my brother.

"You two lool alike," he said to us.

"We're twins," Kurt replied with a friendly smile. I still couldn't talk, he was just so perfect, in every single way.

I invited Cody to come in. We sat in the couch and then I realised I was still in my PJs. I blushed a little, but managed to shake it off. He told me how he had just moved from Liverpool to Brighton with his mom, while his dad had stayed in Liverpool with his sisters. I offered him something to drink, but he rejected it, then he said he should get going so his mum didn't get worried. I was walking with him to the door, and then a brilliant idea came to me.

"Hey, I'm going to meet with some friends at the park. Wanna come with us?" I asked. I figured that, since he had just moved here, he didn't have many friends.

"Sure," he said excited.

"Great. I'm gonna leave with my friend Cameron from here at 12," I explained, smiling a lot and feeling butterflies in my stomach when I said "friend." I knew we weren't friends anymore, we were something more, but I just didn't know how to call it.

"Ok," he agreed, "see you at 12 here," then he started walking to his house on the other side of the street as he waved goodbye. I laughed and closed the door. What a nice kid, I thought.

I walked upstairs and took a shower. I put on white skinnies, a striped pink and blue sweater, pink Converse shoes and I blow-dried my curly long hair. Then I put on some make-up and brushed my teeth. Then I heard the door knock, and I ran to open it. I saw Cody standing outside, and I moved from the entrance so he could walk in. I told him we would be waiting for Cameron, and as soon as I finished saying that, the doorbell rang. I knew it was him, he's one of the few people who ring the doorbell instead of knocking on the door. I opened and he looked so handsome. I smiled.

"Hey!" I said as I kissed his cheek.

"Ready to go?" he asked.

"Yeah, just one second," I said. "Come in," he walked inside behind me, and then I introduced him to Cody. "I'll be right back," I said quickly, then I ran up the stairs to grab my phone and my purse, and to put some perfume.

I walked down, and I saw them talking. I was glad they were getting along. They both looked at me as I ran down the stairs.

"Sorry," I said. "Shall we?"

The three of us walked out of the house, and I locked it once we were all in the path before the door. We started walking to the park, Cameron was asking him a lot of questions, but they seemed to be becoming good friends.

We arrived to the park, and greeted Zoey and Kurt, who were sitting in the meeting bench. They stood up and walked towards us as we walked towards them. after I introduced Cody to them, I noticed that Zoey couldn't stop looking at him. She didn't say a word, and she smiled a lot. I knew it, she liked him.

We decided to have something to eat, and we stopped at a hot dog stand near the park. The day was getting really cold, so we headed to my house. In our way back, I was shivering cold, suddenly I felt a jacket softly lean on my back, keeping me warm. I looked around to thank Cameron, but it wasn't Cameron the one I had to thank.
