8. Chapter seven

I was getting ready for my day with Riley. I was wearing jeans, a button-up shirt, and my white Converse. Suddenly I got a text from Riley asking me at what time I would pick her up. After I calculated, I replied to her with a text saying "In about 30 mintues".

I then brushed my teeth, and suddenly, my phone rang. I answered it and the smile in my face disappeared. I felt a hole in my chest and I wasn't able to talk. My mind went blank and my eyes filled up with tears. Something tragic had happened.

"Adam!" I yelled with a cracked voice as I ran down the stairs. I saw him sitting in the kitchen with his hands on his head looking down. "Let's go," I said.

He stood up without saying a word, we walked out of the house, closed the door, got into the car, and headed right to the hospital. I heard him snuffle, and suddenly tears started streaming down my face.

"It'll be alright," I said, "she'll be alright." He simply nodded.

We got to the hospital and went to the 4th floor, room 622. We knocked and dad opened. We came in, and saw mum asleep on the bed.

"Mum..." I said quietly.

Dad approached and hugged me. "She'll be alright. Just as new," he tried to comfort me.

Adam and I sat next to the bed, and he held her hand while rubbing it with his thumb. The doctor arrived, looking a little concerned. Dad asked him how she was, and he said she didn't look so good. I looked down, and waited for the doctor to continue. He explained that it was something about her diabetes, and then added, "She might have to stay here a month or two."

"Will she be alright?" I asked.

"Hopefully, yes. But we can't promise anything," he answered with a serious look on his face. I sighed and closed my eyes.

We stayed there about 2 hours, then dad told us to go home and clear our minds for a little while. We went back to the car after kissing mum's forehead while she slept.

When we got there, I went to my room, turned on the TV, and started crying. I couldn't hold it anymore. Suddenly, the doorbell rang. I wiped my tears, went to Adam's room and found him asleep. He was two years older than me, but most of the time I acted like the older brother. I smiled, and went to get the door. I opened and Riley was there looking at me.

A/N: Hope you like it, guys. I thought I would add some drama, tell me what you think. Is Cameron's mum going to be alright? Remember to like and favorite :) xx
