2. Chapter one

RILEY’S P.O.V.

I was home watching a movie, Grease it was, when suddenly my phone started ringing. I rushed to pause the movie and get it to the kitchen.

“Hello?” I answered.

“Hey, Riley," Cameron said.

“Oh, hi. What’s up?”

“Listen, Mr. Jackson called me and said that there would be a talk tomorrow at 4 about the closing of the shop or something like that. I told him I would let you know," he said.

“Um, yeah. I can go," I said. “Where at?”

“The shop, actually. I was thinking, maybe I could pick you up and we could go together," he suggested. I smiled.

“Sure! Maybe you’d like to pick me up at school and walk together to the shop," I said.

“That would be great," he agreed. “See you tomorrow then.”

“Bye.”

He hung up, and my grandma walked in the room.

“Is everything ok?” she asked.

“Yeah. By the way, tomorrow I got a talk about the coffee shop in the afternoon. Cameron’s gonna pick me up at school.”

“Oh, alright," she said as she smiled and walked away.

My alarm clock rang, and I jumped out of bed, ran to my closet, took out a pair of jeans, a white sweater, and my white Converse shoes. I entered the bathroom and changed my clothes. I brushed my teeth, combed my hair and put on some makeup. I grabbed my bag and a blue scarf, and wrapped it around my neck as I was walking down the stairs. I sat down with Grandma to have breakfast She had made pancakes.

“Grandma, I love you even more everyday!” I told her as I saw the pancakes in the table. She just laughed.

I had two pancakes and a glass of orange juice, and said goodbye to Grandma as she waved back.

Finally, the bell rang and we all started walking out. I was walking with Zoey , looking around, searching for Cameron.

"Do you see him?" she asked.

"I don't," I said, still looking for him.

I finally saw him, but something was not right. I didn't like what I was seeing. I looked down, there was a knot in my throat and I felt my eyes fill up with tears. I just ignored them, sighed, and turned around.

"Is everything alright?" Zoey asked, concerned.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I answered.

We stood there waiting for him to see us. When he did, he started walking towards us, smiling. When he got where we were standing, I introduced him to Zoey, and vice-versa.

"Zoey, this is Cameron. Cameron, Zoey," I said.

"Very nice to meet you," Cameron said politely.

"You too," Zoey replied.

"Well, we better get going," I said in a hurry. "See you tomorrow, Zoe," I told Zoey as I hugged her and she hugged back.

"Sure," she said smiling.

We started walking in silence. I looked at him, he looked a little distracted, so I thought it would be a good idea to start a conversation.

"So," I started, "who were you holding hands with?"
