Voldemort's Granddaughter

Tegan was a rebel, a foster kid, kicked from home to home because of 'accidents' that kept occurring. Then in a shock revelation on a school exchange to Hogwarts, when an innocent prank goes wrong, Tegan is identified as a witch. Surprised, and relieved, Tegan begins to finally fit in. But the question still hangs, why didn't Tegan receive a letter? Was she just 'overlooked'? Or is there a much more severe reason for blocking her from her world?

14. Densaugeo with swag...

"How are you feeling, Pans?"

Arabella smiled at her. Ramona had her head in her hands, sobbing like a child.

"It didn't hit me, you idiot. I'm fine"

Arabella nodded, looking more interested in the picture of a flower above Pansy's head than their conversation.

"I am so sorry Pansy" Ramona said, tears streaming down her cheeks. "I should have seen it coming, I should have pushed you out of the way, I should have checked the frame to make sure it wasn't faulty!"
"Oh shut up, Ramona. There wasn't anything you could do!"

This didn't comfort Ramona, who continued crying anyway. I just sat there awkwardly, not knowing what to say or do. I looked down at my hands. It was me, I was sure of it. I had accidentally lost control and put an innocent, however annoying, girl in danger. I had never had that power before, and it freaked me out.

"Are you gonna be okay for the Yule Ball?" Arabella asked, tearing her attention away from the flower.

"Of course, they can't keep me here much longer" Pansy examined her cuticles. "It's only check ups and stuff. I'll be out in the morning"

Arabella nodded, twirling a lock of hair around her finger.

"That flower is amazing" She said, sighing. Pansy rolled her eyes. I turned to Arabella.

"You're right, the flower has way too much swag. We'll go see if we can find one, let Pansy have her rest"

Arabella shrugged, then stood up.

"No" Pansy said shortly. "Ramona, take Arabella flower-spotting. I want to talk to Tegan"

Ramona looked confused, and a little hurt. She quickly walked out of the room, Arabella in tow. I sensed more tears were on the horizon. I wasn't very comfortable about this situation at all. After the collapse of the bed, we took a confused and disorientated Pansy to the hospital. I stayed because I didn't know what else to do. No one mentioned anything about it being magic or on purpose. Everyone was just too busy fussing over Pansy.

We had been here two hours now, the clock reaching quarter past eleven. Madam Pomfrey had set Pansy up in a bed, done a few tests, and came up with a conclusion. Pansy wasn't hurt physically, but had taken quite a shock. She said, it was lucky she was pushed out of the way in time.

"How did you do that?" She said, a suspicious look in her eyes.

"Excuse me?"

"Cut the bull, you pushed me out of the way before the thing even quivered. Yet, you looked shocked when it fell. How could you know, yet not know, it was going to fall?"

I looked at her, not knowing what to say. How could I answer a question that I didn't know myself?

"Look, I saved you, didn't I? Just drop it"

I was surprised to see that she did, sitting back against the bed board and sulking.

"Go to bed. Arabella and Ramona will tend to me"

And in an odd way, I think that was Pansy Parkinson's way of thanking me.

"C'mon Slytherin!"

"Slytherin for the win!"

"Green is the team!"

Shouts erupted all around me, cheering on the house. The team was assembling on the field, all wearing emerald robes. I had become a sort of honorary member of the gang since the incident. It was nice to have people around again, even if I couldn't exactly call them my BFF's. They talked about school and teachers and boys and dresses. Like normal teenage girls, really. It made me feel normal, when it was becoming more and more apparent that I wasn't.

"Oh look it's Draco! Let's sit with them!"

Pansy swiftly darted between the crowd, making her way up the stands towards the boys. I didn't even look their way, just sat down beside Ramona. She seemed just as weary of them as I was.

"So Draco, hoping to see Potter fall to his misery?"

But he wasn't paying attention to Pansy. His gaze was focused directly on...me. I narrowed my eyes at him. He had an odd look on his face, like he didn't want to see me there. Pansy noticed this, took it as a threat, and took an immediate stiffness in her posture.

"So Pansy, who are you going to the Yule Ball with?" A beefy looking guy leaned in to her, one of what looked like a real-life Tweedle Dum/Dee combo.

"Not you anyway, Gregory" She said, wrinkling her nose at the idea. His face fell a little. Aw, the block had feelings.

"Me and Ramona are going together, right Mona?"

Ramona groaned at the fatter guy's announcement. I laughed.

"Arabella thinks Gregory is good-looking" Pansy stated, which I knew was not true because Arabella always gushed about some sixth year that had asked her out.

"Orite, me and Arabella then" Arabella shrugged, either not caring or not knowing what she had just committed to.

Pansy made a pointed look at Ramona. She instantly sat up straighter, obviously readyingherself.

"Well that just leaves Draco and Pansy then" She said, her pitch varying like a bad actor. I cringed.

"Draco, who are you going with?"

He was now looking over the pitch, his eyes cloudy. Obviously in another world.

"Draco?" Pansy repeated.

"I really couldn't care less" He said, letting out a bitter laugh.

There was silence. I had to agree, there was a lot more on my plate than getting a date to some ball. But I wondered what could be going on in his head.

"Yay, the match is starting!" Arabella squealed, defusing the tension slightly. Pansy still looked at Draco with shock horror.

"And their off" said the commentator, his voice ringing out throughout the pitch. A flash of red zipped across us, my hair flew in all directions. The game continued in snaps of green and red across the pitch, the occasional glimpse of a brown, leather ball. I relaxed a little, being among all this cheer and spirit was infectious. Even if I didn't know how the sport worked.

Intermission came, students came around selling match merchandise and oddly named confectioneries. I bought a purple hexagonal box and an actual brown frog hopped out. The fat one grabbed it before it had a chance to get away, enclosed it in his meaty fists and devoured it in one bite. I didn't fancy another treat after that.

"SPEW, Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare. Protect the house elves and get rights instated to give the elves the way of life they deserve. Buy a badge, sign our petition, even hang up a poster!"

It was Harry's friend, the 'passionate' girl. I groaned.

"Only Hermione Mudblood Granger would actually shout about house elves. Maybe you should become one Hermione, that would be a great experience. You certainly have the teeth"

Hermione glared at Pansy.

"Well Pansy, I see the bed frame didn't crush you. Oh well, we can only hope"

Pansy scowled. A gangly red-haired boy came up behind Hermione.

"Just stick to being Malfoy's applause button, Pansy. Don't try and actually talk, it's embarrassing"

I spotted Dumbledore across the pitch. He was watching the half-time cheer team perform. But I could tell he was preoccupied with something else.

"Some people actually care about more than their hair, Pansy"

Pansy snorted.

"You think Weasley here actually cares about SPAWN? Please, he's only here because you didn't give him another option"

Hermione corrected the name, but then quickly turned to the Ron boy. He had turned a little red.

"Go on Ron, tell her how you support SPEW and it's aim to improve living and working conditions for the Wizarding World's slaves"

"Well, Hermione, I am only doing this because you told me to. I mean come on, you know I despise the things. Do you remember Kreacher? He was a nasty piece of work"

Hermione's mouth dropped open. Pansy squealed with laughter. Ron realised his mistake, suddenly thinking he maybe should have just lied.

Dumbledore looked at me. And I felt he was looking right at me. He knew what was going on. He knew what I had done, could do. I felt sick to my stomach.

"Maybe Ronnykins and Granger won't be at the Yule Ball together after all. How sad"

And then I lost it.

"Shut up, Pansy! Just shut up!" I stood up, my breathing quickening and my palms shaking. They were all staring at me. "Get over yourself! No one bloody cares who you, Hermione or any friggin' red haired randomer goes to the ball with. Its a stupid ball for god's sake!"

I turned to Hermione.

"And you, Ms. High and Mighty. I'd maybe do a little background checking before you go and write crap about people, because hypocrisy is written all over this campaign of yours. Before you go after rights for elves why don't you let people around you have theirs?" There was a shocked silence, but I wasn't done. "Arabella, grow a brain. Ramona, grow a voicebox. You two, Block 1 and 2, grow a likeable personality. Draco, grow a pair. I'm so sick of you all complaining about stupid, stupid stuff. You have lives, you have families, you have people around you. And nothing to worry about but dresses and magical elves"

I laughed harshly.

"You have no idea what's going on. You have no idea what's going to happen." My voice went quiet at this announcement of my own accord. "You don't know what's going to happen"

And then I ran. Ran away from the cheery crowds, the shocked group I left behind. I just ran and ran and ran. I frantically looked for a clear passage through the crowds but I couldn't see it. I needed to get away. I ran down and down the stairs under the stands. I was finally out and I took a gulp of air. I couldn't breathe. The air began dissolving around me, disappearing and leaving nothing around me. I was drowning. My head being pushed under, not letting me breathe. I needed to breathe. I needed to breathe. Suddenly, I felt the hard ground beneath me.

I heard his voice, asking me what was wrong. Concerned. I wondered who the voice was.

"I killed her. I killed her. I killed her"

I thought the words would drive him away. But he just scooped me up. Before the dark world of unconsciousness embraced me, I said the words that had been swimming around my head since I came to Hogwarts. Maybe even since that day.

"I killed her" I repeated, my voice losing volume. "But I swear, it wasn't me..."
