21. I Have A Plan

*The next morning

(Michael's POV)

I woke up to the sound of someone calling my name.

"Michael, Michael!" The person screams my name causing me to open my eyes to figure out who is screaming my name. Its my dad.

"What do you want?" I ask, now in a grumpy mood from being woken up so early. He looks at me shocked but then laughs a little. What's wrong with him?

"What did you wake me up so early," I pause to look at my clock on the nightstand. 7AM. I continue, "At 7AM for?" I finish still in my grumpy mood but wide awake now.

He breathes in, then out. "I've been thinking about what you said about the law, the marriage law, and I decided to call a meeting with all of the kings to discuss this law and whether we should get rid of it completely or change it up a little. You and Taylor are welcome to attend the meeting if you want." A giant smile crosses my face and I reach up and give him a big bear hug.

"Thank you! Thank you so much for at least trying to get rid of this law! What made you change your mind?" I breathe and he squirms around, under my arms.

"Well I thought about it for a while and I realized that I cant keep you from being happy. I also realized that no matter what the law said, you still would be in love with Taylor. Who is a mermaid. And you know you cant marry a mermaid but that didn't stop you from falling in love with her." He babbles and my smile sinks.

"You know that Im in love with Taylor?"

He laughs, "It's obvious. From the way you look at her." I smile, a little. "Plus, I heard you and Taylor admitting it to each other in the living room." He laughs even harder and I through a pillow at him.

He seems to be more fun.

Like, he's not stressed out about the kingdom anymore.

How do I know that? He's laughing and smiling. Something I only see once in a while.

Not very much though.

"Are you ok?" He asked me, genuinely concerned.

"Um yeah. Im just happy that you finally thought about the law." I smile a little, when the door opens revealing a sleepy looking Taylor.

"What going on? I heard screaming, well happy screaming." She says with her sleepy voice.

"Umm, can I tell her?" I ask looking directly at my dad.

"Of course you can. Ill leave you 2 alone." He says then leaves.

"So what is this big surprise that you're gonna tell me." Taylor smirks wide awake now.

"Well it wasn't meant to be a surprise but when you hear about it, it will shock you." I smile and she grips my forearms as she scoots into the bed next to me. "What is the surprise?!" She asks, getting impatient.

"My dad said that he would call all of the kings together for a meeting to discuss the marriage law." I say and she squeals before attacking me with a hug. "Really?" She screams and I cover her mouth.

"Shh, people are still sleeping. And yes I think it's this Friday."

That's in 2 days.

Her smile instantly sinks. "What? What's wrong?" I asked, concerned.

"You said all kings, right?" She asks, getting up, off from on top of me.

"Yes." I wearily answer and I sit up.

"Oh my god." She breaths, before bending down over the bed with her hands covering her face and her elbows on her knees. "Oh my god."

"What. What is it?" I repeat.

Why is she asking if all the kings are coming?

Isn't she happy that her dad is comin- ohh!

She doesn't want to see her dad, because of what happened about 2 months ago. He slapped her. I totally forgot.

"Oh my god, Taylor. Im sorry." I say, hoping she knew what I meant.

"I just don't want to talk or see him. He pretty much abused me!" She screams crying into my shoulder.

"I know, I know but I think you should at least talk to him." I suggest. She looks up at me then weeps into my chest.

"I cant. I cant just talk to him." She screams, her hands clinging to the now wet shirt on my body.

"Its ok, it's ok. Taylor," I say, bringing her up by the shoulders to look me in the eyes. A tear slips from her eyes and I wipe it away, "Taylor listen, you need to stop crying." I advise, "I know you don't want to see your dad, but you only have to see, and maybe talk to him, for only a couple of hours." I say, squeezing her shoulders gently.

She just looks at me through her watery eyes, another tear slips down her cheek. "Listen Taylor, I know you don't want to see your dad, and I understand. But you need to suck it up and be strong around him." She looks down towards her knees. "Look at me Taylor," I say pulling her face up by the chin with my finger. "Its only for the better, Taylor. You want this law to be gone right?" I ask her, and she nods. "Then you got to be strong. Don't be intimidated by him. Okay? Just act like it never happened. Ok? Just last a couple of hours on Friday with him and then, hopefully, you wont see him again." I reassure her, giving her the best advise I could at this point.

"Ok." She nods and wipes the tears away from her face. "Yeah, ok." She says and smiles at me. She doesn't say anything before walking out of my and into what I think is the bathroom.

Ill just give her time to think.

(Taylor's POV)

I enter the bathroom and shut the door and lock it behind me.

"Ok Taylor. Come on pull it together." I say to myself, wiping some stray tears away from my face.

"I cant just cry in front of my boyfriend. Now could I?" I ask myself.

Nope.

I take a deep breathe and look in the mirror. "Who is this girl staring at me in the mirror?" I thought to myself.

This girl had tear stains on her cheeks from crying so much, because she's a wimp. Thats not me. Thats not who I am.

That was who I was, i've changed.

I've changed into something that... In fact I don't even know who I've changed to.

I haven't decided yet.

But all I know is that I've become stronger and more independent.

And that I've found love.

I've decided that Ill do it and be strong around my dad. And besides, it'll only help me in the long run.
