A Cupcake Fairytale

"Things were changing for us... and this time for good.”

Abandoned by her father before she was even born, Madison had to make do with whatever life handed out to her. She sweetened her own life by loosing herself in the imaginary world of fairytales. She was forever stuck on princesses and the sweet bakery treats her mother constantly creates.

When the opportunity of a lifetime presented itself to her, Madison realises that her life wasn't all that it seemed to be....

11. Hospital

I woke up in a cold white room. Mum was there. So were Savannah and Stacy and all of Mum’s friends. Mum was crying.

“Don’t cry, Mum - I’m okay, see?”

I tried to sit up but my arm and leg felt like they were tied down.

“Ah! I see you’ve woken up Madison.” a lady in a pale blue dress said.

I was in hospital. Mum explained through a pained voice that I had fallen down the stairs and I’d been in a coma for two weeks and I had a broken leg and arm. Stacey started sobbing and saying that she hadn’t meant to hurt me. I felt sorry for her but I also wanted to rip her apart for paralysing me. That was until a police man came and dragged her away. She was sentenced to three months in a children’s institution for assault.

“I’m so sorry Maddie!” Savannah said, “If I had known Stacey was going to attack you like that, I would have never ditched her for you.”

“It’s okay, Savannah,” I said, “Friends?”

We hugged as best as we could and then Savannah left with her parents.

Mum got the paperwork sorted out and I left the hospital the next day. The day of the baking competition final.
