Please Don't Say You Love Me

Sophie is your average 18 year old teenage girl. Nothing more, nothing less. She has had relationships and heartbreaks before. She is currently studying in college and has a stable job at her local Starbucks cafe. She moved to London from Kent with her best friend, Ellie, to attend college together. Sophie has always been quite shy and a self kept person. What happens when someone, a boy, comes into her life? What happens when that boy is Harry Styles? Will Sophie turn him away or will Harry win her over?

3. You know where to find me.

Sophie's P.O.V

The next twenty minutes went by pretty slow actually. There was no queue at all and I only had about three customers. Bored would be considered an understatement at the time. I tried to pass time by cleaning the counters a little and occasionally staring at my nails that I had just got done the other day.

Soon enough, it was time for my lunch break. "Hey Soph." I heard James call as he made his way behind the counter.

"Hey." I smiled as I finished wiping up the milk I had just spilled.

He laughed. "Come on you, hand over the apron and go for lunch."

I took off the apron and handed it to James. "Thanks. See you in a bit." I waved goodbye before walking into the supply room, grabbing my jumper, putting it on and walking out to go for my lunch.

I have to admit, I was getting quite anxious waiting for Harry. I was unsure if he would come at all. Maybe he just feels sorry for me. Who am I kidding? Of course he feels sorry for me.

As I walked out of the supply room and out through the counter, I saw no sign of Harry. I shrugged it off, a bit disappointed but not hugely affected by him not turning up. I unlocked my phone, checking any messages or missed calls I had received while working. I had a text from Ellie:

From: Ellie-Bear<3  Hey, hey, hey! I know I said I'd be home early tonight but change of plans. 10pm at the latest. Please don't hate me? I made you brownies! x

I chuckled at her efforts before I replied.

To: Ellie-Bear<3 How could I hate you if you made brownies? I'll see you later. x

I hit send before I locked my phone and slid it into my jean pocket. I looked up to lock gaze with the most beautiful green eyes I'd ever seen. I smiled when I realised who it was.

"Sorry I'm late." He sighed apologetically.

I laughed. "You're not late, I'm just early."

He smirked. "So, coffee? Where do you want to get it from?"

"I'm not sure if you've noticed but we're standing in front of Starbucks." I half laughed, turning around and clearly pointing to the cafe.

He began walking towards the counter. "I thought you'd want to get away from here."

"Well, that would be nice." I laughed.

He thought for a second. "How about we get a coffee from here and go for a walk?"

"Sure." I smiled before we both headed towards the counter.

We ordered our drinks, Harry insisting on paying. When we were handed the drinks we walked away from the shop and down the street, nowhere in particular really.

"So," Harry sighed. "I have a question for you."

"Okay, shoot." I agreed, taking a sip of my coffee.

He began laughing. "Can I get your name?"

I had completely forgot that he hadn't even got my name yet. That's embarrassing! I mean, I didn't even introduce myself. "Sophie." I smiled.

"Well, Sophie" He smirked, showing off his dimples. "How old are you?"

"I'm eighteen. Yourself?"

"Nineteen." He smiled to himself.

Just then, a little girl around nine or ten walked up to Harry. She asked if she could take a picture and when Harry agreed, the biggest smile appeared on her face. Her mum, who was with her, took out her phone and snapped a picture of them. Before she left, Harry gave her a hug, told her she was beautiful and thanked her for supporting One Direction. She told him she loved him and left.

"Sorry about that." He apologised. "I just can't say no to them."

"Don't worry about it. I mean, these people love you and support you. They would do anything to meet you believe me, I live with one of them." He chuckled a bit. "I guess its great that you're one of those people who appreciate their fans and support." I smiled, sipping my drink.

"I'm glad you understand. I don't want there to be interruptions while I'm out here with you but sometimes I just can't help it, you know?"

"Well no, I don't know." I laughed. "But, I get it. Don't worry about the interruptions, honestly I don't mind. I'd rather you stop every two minutes to take a photo or sign something than to have to say no to all those people. They're your fans and I'm glad you show them some recognition."

"Wow." That was all he said. I didn't know how to take it so I just kept walking.

The rest of our walk consisted of the usual 'get to know each other questions' like where we're from and what we like. A few fans stopped Harry for a photo or an autograph but I really didn't mind. I love the fact that he really does appreciate the support and dedication of his fans. I also noticed a few people taking pictures of us as we walked. They looked a bit like photographers from newspapers. I didn't really pay any attention to them and we just continued talking. I told him about me and Ellie(who I mentioned loved One Direction) moving from Kent to London and about my studies in college. Harry talked about X Factor and One Direction. It's basically his whole life, which I sort of expected. We seemed to have quite a bit in common. Harry also likes to read in his spare time however, when I mentioned that I liked to dance he did say his dancing wasn't great. It was a really nice conversation, it just flowed perfectly. He had a great sense of humour and a lovely personality. We had been talking and laughing so much that we hadn't realised that we were almost back at Starbucks and that my lunch break was nearly over. We were walking back down the street, nearing the cafe again with every step. There was silence for a minute.

"So," Harry sighed. "Do you have a boyfriend?"

I half laughed to myself. "No, I don't."

"Me either." He smiled.

"Well, I'm glad to hear you don't have a boyfriend." I smirked.

He let out a chuckle. "Girlfriend. I don't have a girlfriend."

We both let out a little laugh and continued walking. Before we knew it we were back at Starbucks and my break was just about to end.

I sighed. "I had a great time. Thanks for the coffee and you are totally forgiven from the yesterday."

"I did too. Well, I was hoping you'd forgive me." He laughed.

"Well, my break is just over so I better go get ready for my next shift."

"Okay." He sighed.

"Bye." I smiled before walking towards the counter.

"Sophie?" Harry half shouted as I was walking away.

I turned around to face him. He had his hands stuffed into his pockets and he was swaying back and forth. He looked a little nervous, actually. "Yeah?" I asked walking back to him.

"Can I get your number? Or at least give you mine? I'd really like to see you again." He smirked.

Like I said; Harry is a great guy but, it's only just been one coffee date. I know it's crazy but I couldn't help but think what if this is just the beginning? What if we get really close and develop feelings? He's a superstar and I'm just little old me. Besides, I'm not ready for love.

"If you want to see me again," I smirked. "You know where to find me." I turned around towards the Starbucks shop.

"But I-" I cut him off.

"Goodbye, Styles. I'll see you around."

Harry's P.O.V

I walked away from Starbucks feeling both happy and slightly upset. Today has been amazing so far. I really like Sophie. I mean, I know it's only been one date -if you could even call that a date- but I just feel like something can happen from this. I really want to see her again and take her on a proper date: just the two of us and no interruptions. There's just something about her that's so intriguing. It's just, when I asked for her number I know she was playing about a little by teasing and saying I knew where to find her but, I just couldn't help but feel there was a different, unknown reason behind her rejection.

Maybe it's because she's seen the papers and what they say about me? That I'm some kind of 'womanizer.' I just wish I could go out on a date with someone I like without having to worry about what people think and what the papers will say. All I know is, I'm definitely going back there tomorrow.
