9. Angelica

“How are we going to tell your mother?” I asked.

“We’re not. Not yet anyway. Now come here, my little fire ball.”

He grabbed me and kissed me gently. I heard the door latch unlocked quickly and before I could withdraw from his lips, Angelica was already squealing with joy.

“I knew it. We got it right, Ariel!” Angelica shouted at the sky to my mother.

She shrieked again then grabbed me and pulled me into a deep embrace with her son.

“So how did it happen?” She asked.

“By accident.” I said quietly.

“Pardon?” She asked again in her usual polite manor.

I started to stammer as I didn’t really know what happened nor did I want to say that I didn’t mean to say I love her son but Chase came to my rescue in some way

“She accidently said ‘I love you’ to me and then I had to go and I then I found her and well…” He stopped and smiled a cheeky grin at me.

“Oh I always knew you two were going to get together!” What? I didn’t have any feelings for him until that day. Did he?

“I have to go now; my father said he was allowed off work this evening.”

“Perfect! We can all go round now and tell him!” She exclaimed.

“We?” Chase and I said in unison.

“Well, as your father’s future sister in law, I should be there.” She said, backing up her argument.

“Wow, slow down mum! Let us get used to being together… Like this first.” Chase said then he moved into protective stance in front of me. Angelica sighed but left us alone to bid each other goodbye. Chase smiled at me so I leaned in for a kiss but he placed his finger on my lips.

“Oy!” I shouted playfully. He snatched my arm and dragged me round the corner and pulled me into him, his body squished up against mine as he kissed me passionately for a few seconds then pushed me away from him and wiggled his finger while ‘ah-ah-ah’ ing. Then he ran around the corner and goes into his house, meaning I should go home.

Suddenly, I felt someone grab my arm, I looked around and there was no one there. Then I felt someone shake it, again no one was there. Then I heard a voice that wasn’t there. My heart rate was increasing as I took sharp intakes of breathe, trying to get air to my lungs.
