She's Not Afraid {Part of the Summer Love Series}

Little Darcy Anne Styles isn't so little any more. She's a fifteen year old girl trying to have a normal since her father is one of the five members of One Direction. Will she ever get the kind of life that she wants? (Might be smart to read Summer Love and Still the One to get a better idea of what's happening.)

2. Broken Promises

     "Darcy Anne let's go!" Mum yelled. I don't know who's idea it was but Mum was hired as my schools football team. Don't get me wrong, she's a good coach but she was hard on me. After one more lap, Mum told us to bring it in. "Great practice today ladies," she smiled. "I think we have a chance to win the championship. We just got to keep practicing to ensure that we win. You guys have anything else to add?" The other coaches shook their heads. "Alright, have a nice night ladies," she smiled. I helped her put the balls and cones into the storage shed. "You did good today kiddo," she smiled as we walked to the car. I just shrugged. My phone vibrated from the waist band of my shorts. "Hi Daddy!" I cheerfully answered. "Hey angel! How was practice?" my dad asked. He was on tour with my uncles at the moment. "Ehh. Same as usual." "Mum was hard on ya?" "Mhm," I nodded. "It's only because she want's you to do well," he told me with a sigh. "So are you excited for the championship?" Dad asked. "I guess...I get to see you guys." "About that," Dad said. "Another tour date came up and it's on the day of the game....I'm sorry Darcy." I felt tears sting my eyes. I hadn't see my father in person in about three weeks and my game was the only I got to see him and now he had to cancel so he could perform! I liked it better before One Direction had it's reunion. Dad would NEVER miss any game of mine. I didn't say anything as I hung up the phone and brought my knees to my chest. I started to cry. "Darcy what's wrong?" Mum asked, trying to keep her eyes on the road. "D-Dad c-can't come t-to m-my g-game," I wept. "Babe, you know that he's busy," Mum sighed. "But he promised!" I said. "Well Darcy, get used to it. He's going to make promises that he can't keep," she said at a stop sign. At that point I had had enough so I opened the car door and started to walk home. "Darcy!" Mum yelled from the car but I ignored her and started to run home.

     When Darcy started to run, I called my husband to tell him how well his genius plan worked. "Hello?" he answered. "I would just like to congratulate you on your plan it's working so well," I told him sarcastically as I pulled into the driveway. "She's pissed isn't she?" "Ran home," I replied as I got out of the car. "Ehh she'll forgive me." "You better home so," I told him as I shut the front door. "Wanna talk to your other children?" I asked when I saw Mason and Calley sitting in the living room. "If they aren't busy," he sighed. "Calley wanna talk to Daddy?" I asked. "Yes!" she smiled. I handed her my phone then asked Mason where Darcy was. "Up in her room," he sighed. I nodded as I walked up to my daughter's room.

     "But Ash I don't think he understands how much it hurts me!" I wept to my best friend. "D, without him being in the band I don't even think you would be on the team. You know what I mean?" She did have a point. The tuition for my school is insane and with out Dad being in One Direction, I wouldn't even leave in my neighborhood. "I guess you're right," I sighed. I looked up to see Mum standing in the doorway. "Hey I got to go. I'll call you later," I said. She said good-bye before hanging up. "What bad news do you have now?" I sighed. "I just wanted to see how you were doing," she smiled. "Well I'm just peachy," I lied. "Baby I know how you feel," she sighed. "You're father would always make promises but I knew that might change at the last second. So I know how you feel." I nodded my head and wiped away tears. "Darcy, Dad wants to talk to you," Mason said in the door way with the phone in his hand. I motioned him to come in and he handed me Mum's phone. "Hello?" I answered. "Hey princess," Dad said cheerfully. "I'm really sorry." "It's alright dad, I understand," I smiled. "Well I feel terrible about missing your game sweetie." "Dad we're a good team, it's gonna happen again," I laughed. "That's true," he laughed. "Well I got to go. I love you sweetie." "Love you too dad," I sighed before hanging up.

     I walked downstairs to give Mum her phone. "Darcy do you want to play princess with me?" Calley asked. "Just give me one second alright?" She nodded her head then ran to the play room. I put Mum's phone on the kitchen counter then went to the play room. Calley had her table set up for a tea party. "Finally!" she sighed when I came in. "You are sitting next to Teddy," she smiled. I sat on the floor in between a stuffed teddy bear that Ed Sheeran had given her and the unicorn I got her for her third birthday. "Tea Darcy?" she asked with a posh accent. "Please," I smiled. She picked up her tea pot then poured "tea" into my cup. "Awee," I heard Mum coo from the doorway. "I remember when you would make Mason have tea parties with you." I laughed at the memory. "We're playing princesses Mummy!" Calley whined. "I'm sorry Princess Calley," Mum bowed. "Do you mind if I take a picture?" she asked. "If you must," I sighed. Mum took out her phone so Calley ran over to stand behind me. "Say cheese!" Mum cheered. Calli and I said the dairy product in unison. Mum typed away then I felt my phone vibrate from the waist band of my shorts. "@DarcyA playing with her sister #MummyMoment," the tweet read with the picture she had just taken with me (Looking horrible) and Calley. I retweeted it then went back to my sister. My phone vibrated again so I looked to see that Dad had retweeted it saying "My princesses <3." A dumb smile came on to my face. "Did Andy text you Darcy?" Calley asked, referring to my crush. "No. It was something that Dad tweeted," I explained.

The tea party lasted a few more minutes before I went up to take a shower. After that, I lied in my bed and watched TV. At around 10 I fell asleep. I had a dream that Dad's concert got canceled at he was at the championship game (which we won). To bad it was only a dream......
