1. Unsuspected visitor

I stared out the window. Did that kid ever take a break? No, I guess he didn't. Turning away, I sauntered into the kitchen. I supose he should be able to enjoy childhood. It doesn't last long. At leats, it didn't for me.

"Mary! Mary!"

I sighed, pushing myself off the island.

"What is it kaden?"

He met me in the doorway, wrapping his scrawny arms around my waist in a hug.

"Someone's here to see you."

I turned my stare away from his beautiful grren eyes, and came face-to-face with sparkling auburn ones. The coke I had been carrying with me fell to the ground.

"Hey Mary," the silky voice brought back a rush of painful memories; an ache formed in my chest.

"Kaden go inside."

"But..." I silenced him with a look.

I shifted my gaze from his retreating figure to the one standing in front of me.

"Cute," he smirked.

"What do you want scott?"

He took a step closer, "You."

I snorted, "A little late for that don't cha think?"

I let acid drip off every word.

He hesitated, "Mary...I don't like the way we ended things."

"How I ended things."

"Apology not accepted," I practically hissed through my teeth.

"Aww...Come on Mary! I miss you, and I know you miss me to."

"You don't know anything Scott. Go home. And don't come back."

I began to turn away when he grabbed my arm and pulled me towards him.

"Ow! Scott! Let me go!"

He shook his head and laughed.

"Never. I'll never let you go. I promised remember?'

"You lied."

"I didn't. I was always thinking of you. even when I was with Stacy. I couldn' get you out of my head. I still can't."

His grasp tightened against my arm, and his knuckles began to turn white. I winced in pain.

"Ouch! Sott! Please let me go!"

He began to say something, but was cut short. He let go of my arm with a jolt as something collided with him. I fell backwards, unable to catch myself in the surprise. My ankle was twisted and began to throbb, but I was too absorbed by what was happening to my left to notice. Scott was rolling around on the ground with who I assumed to be the colliding force.

"Mary!" Kaden shrieked from the doorway.

"Don't worry Kaden; it's alright."

He stared at me, lower lip quivering, before he scurried back into the house. By the time I turned aroundthe fight was over, and our surprise guest was making his way towards me.
