Odd One Out

"Good things come to those who wait."
How much longer do I have to wait?

Iris is different. She wants more. She wants to be free.
She wants love.
But no one understands her. Her only escape is through music.
She's the Odd One Out.
And then, she meets Blake...

14. Things can only get better

Dear Love,

Forever and ever and ever seems a long time.

Can anything really last that long?

You can, Love.

Love will always be going,

Pulsing through space,

Lighting up the stars, the sun, the moon,

Lifting the heaviest lips right up into a beautiful smile,

Wiping the tears away from the wettest of cheeks,

And keeping everything going.

Without you, Love, there would be nothing.

Nothing.

Yours,

Iris x

Today is tomorrow, which means I have to meet Charlotte in like...now.

But the lunch que isn't getting any shorter, and my stomach is still in a knot of hunger.

"Please hurry up," I whisper to the long line of bustling pupils.

A short boy with ginger hair spiked straight up looks up at me with wavery blue eyes.

"Hullo. It's taking a while isn't it?" He laughs to himself. I nod. "I'm new," He tells me. "Only a first year."

I pretend to look surprised. "First year? Oh I thought you'd have been older!"
"Nahh," He says, not hiding a big sloppy smirk. "I get that a lot."

"Oh." I decide on giving up waiting. "Well nice meeting you...." My voice trails off.

"Eddie," He says.

"Nice meeting you Eddie, but I'm going. Bye!"
As I hurry off, I hear his distant voice asking for my name above the loud kerfuffle of jeers from the other high schoolers. But I'm focused on one thing right now. And that's music.

"Sorry I'm late Charlotte, these lunch ques are just..." I sigh and give Mrs Muller that you know what they're like look. She nods knowingly.

"Of course, no problem. It's not going to take long anyway. Just a quick chat!"

I take a seat in my usual spot. "So what's new?"

Charlotte sits in her teacher chair. "Tonight. Are you available to come down to the studio at around six-ish. You'll be back home about eight or nine or so."

I nod enthuisiastically. "Yeah, I'll be there!"

"Great, I really think it would be amazing to take up this wonderful oppurtunity! A whole CD for free!"

I press my lips into a smile. "I can't wait."

Tonight is the night where things can only get better.
