Riding The Wave

I'm your typical Malibu Barbie as some people call me. I live my life travelling around, and basically surfing. However, after my mom passes away surfing becomes difficult for me, the typical summer drama comes up, and I begin to feel lost within myself. I feel like I won't be able to live through this summer, until I finally let Harry get to me...

3. Part 3

The beach started to clear up as the night wore on. It was a little after six when I started making my way back to the house. I saw the guys talking to someone but I was focused on the girl with the group of kids near the water. I saw her earlier today at the bar and grill on the boardwalk, but I didn’t have her pinned down as the surfer girl.

“HARRY!” I looked over to Louis and saw him waving me over to the group of guys. I started over and noticed there were about three or four guys plus all of my friends. “This is Grant and his buddies; they’re having a party tonight and invited us. Grant is our neighbor, by the way.”

“That’s cool; nice to meet you.”

“You too.” He shook my hand before I stepped back. I glanced back over my shoulder and saw the girl working with the kids again.

“Have you met her?” I looked back and Grant nodded towards her.

“HEY, BETH!” She glanced up and flipped off Grant before turning back to the kids. Grant waved and smiled at her, only making her laugh. “You’ll meet her tonight; she’s real chill. She’s a big surfer; probably the best on this beach. You literally have to pry her out of the water.”

“GRANT!” We all turned and saw someone else running over.

“Hey Jake; what’s up?”

“Is Bethany coming to your party tonight?”

“Yeah, she is. Has she ever missed one?”

“No, but I got you guys a hook-up for the booze. I’ll have Bethany bring it over.”

“Dude, you’re great, thanks!”

“Anything for you man; look, I gotta get back to work. I’ll see you later.”

“SEE YAH!” Grant called as Jake ran away. “That’s Beth’s older brother; oh and this is Tyler, Mac, and Jay.”

“Nice to meet you guys.” We all said.

“They live a couple blocks away from the beach. Alright, well we’ll see you tonight.”

“See you tonight.” Zayn said as they turned away. We turned and walked up our steps and inside.

“How’d you end up talking to them?” I asked.

“They saw Liam and Niall outside the house and they got talking.” Louis said. I nodded as they all made their way inside. I stayed out on the deck and watched Beth teach the little kids how to surf.

As soon as seven hit, the kids were taken away by their parents and I was being given tips from working with them. I took the tips and shoved them in my bag after they all left. As soon as they were tucked away, I stripped off my wetsuit.

“How was work?” I looked up and Grant was there with Jay and Mel.

“It sucked, but…money is money.”

“We have a party in an hour and you’re going to surf?” Grant asked.

“I’ll be at your party, don’t worry Grant.”

“Good, because I have a few new guys coming tonight- one of which has been eyeing you down.”

“Grant, you’re an asshole.” I shoved him and he laughed.

“Yet, you love me.”

“I debate that sometimes. Now get out of here.”

“Yes, princess.” I rolled my eyes as Grant and Jay walked away.

“You are so lucky…” Mel sighed.

“How am I lucky?” I asked, re-tying my hair up.

“You and Grant dated for like a year and he still worships you…why can’t I be you?”

“Grant and I never should’ve dated.”

“How can you say that?!”

“He’s Grant; he’s an asshole.”

“He’s beautiful…” Mel sighed.

“Yeah, right; snap out of your day-dream and go get ready for your party.”

“I can’t…you’re surfing, which means I have to surf with you until you’re ready to get ready since I need your help.”

“You’re ridiculous.”

“You said that like five times today already, B.”

“Yeah, and I mean it, Mel.” Mel shook her head and grabbed the extra board in at my house before diving into the ocean with me.
