Riding The Wave

I'm your typical Malibu Barbie as some people call me. I live my life travelling around, and basically surfing. However, after my mom passes away surfing becomes difficult for me, the typical summer drama comes up, and I begin to feel lost within myself. I feel like I won't be able to live through this summer, until I finally let Harry get to me...

15. Part 15

“JAKE, PRINCESS?!” We heard our dad call through the house.

“DOWNSTAIRS!” Jake and I called back. a few seconds later we heard footsteps on the stairs.

“Hello.” Dad said sadly, walking over and kissing us both on the head.

“How are you, dad?”

“I’m on break for the rest of the week.” He said, almost like he didn’t hear my question.

“Dad?” I asked again.

“Hm?” He asked, turning to me.

“How are you?”

“Oh…alright.” He shrugged and looked around. “Are you guys’ hungry? We can order a pizza or something.”

“That sounds good.” Jake whispered. Dad nodded and made his way back upstairs. I followed him so I could ask him about Harry. I listened while he ordered and when he hung up, I walked up to him and gave him a hug.

“Daddy?” I whispered.

“What do you want?” I giggled and pulled away.

“I want you to meet someone…”

“A boyfriend?” I nodded and bit my lip, making my dad sigh. “Is he anything like Grant?”

“No daddy.”

“Bring him over. I want to meet him before I leave again.” I nodded and walked out back to start the short walk to his house.

When I got there, I just walked inside. I heard all the guys joking around in the living room so I didn’t think it was a big deal.

“Harry?” I asked when I entered. Everyone turned to me and I noticed that all the guys were here.

“What’s up babe?” Harry asked, turning to me.

“My dad wants to meet you.” Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Grant’s mouth drop since he knew my dad. As well as they got along, Grant knew my dad and how he was with boyfriends. I knew this would get to Grant but I didn’t care.

“Really? You talked to him?”

“Yeah…he wanted to know if you were anything like Grant and when I said no he decided he wanted to meet you.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?!” Grant demanded.

“It means you were a sucky-ass boyfriend.”

“Yeah, okay.” Grant said, rolling his eyes.

“Harry’s far better than you ever could be.” I said as Harry picked me up like I was a sack of potatoes.

“NO MORE FIGHTING! LET’S GO MEET THE FATHER!” Harry yelled like it was a mission. I couldn’t help but laugh as Harry ran us outside and down the beach.

When we reached my house, Harry jokingly fell into the sad, making me laugh as we rolled around and got covered in sand. When Harry rolled over on top of me, he kissed my lips quickly before helping me up to my feet.

“Nice to finally meet you.” Harry and I jumped to the sound of my dad’s voice, not realizing he was right there. Harry brushed himself off and walked up to my dad and shook his hand.

“Nice to meet you too sir. I’m Harry.”

“So I’ve heard…” My dad said eyeing Harry up and down. I was holding my breath when I saw my dad crack a small smile. “Come on inside. We ordered pizza for dinner.” I sighed with relief and took the steps two at a time to join them inside.

Dinner was on the table when Harry and I walked in. Jake was waiting impatiently as the three of us took our seats. When we finally sat down, Jake went after the pizza like his life depended on it.

“Someone’s hungry.” I joked, making Jake shoot me a glare.

“Nobody asked you.” Jake said with his mouth full.

“Don’t talk with your mouth full!” My dad demanded. I saw Harry smiling next to me which made me smile.

“What are you smiling at?” Jake mumbled. I giggled and look at Harry who started cracking up, making me start cracking up. “What the hell?” My dad started laughing too as we all laughed uncontrollably.

“Nothing…” I finally gasped out.

“I was laughing at them laughing…” MY dad said, out of breath.

“I was just laughing.” Harry pointed out, earning a glare from Jake.

“I like you, boy.” My dad said, patting Harry’s shoulder, making me smile. Harry smiled even more at my dad’s revelation.

For the rest of the evening, we spent it on the beach walking and joking around with each other. Harry got along really well with my dad and to be honest, it was the first time I’ve seen my dad in a good mood since my mom died. There was something about Harry that put everyone in a good mood and it was nice. It made me like him more.
