Riding The Wave

I'm your typical Malibu Barbie as some people call me. I live my life travelling around, and basically surfing. However, after my mom passes away surfing becomes difficult for me, the typical summer drama comes up, and I begin to feel lost within myself. I feel like I won't be able to live through this summer, until I finally let Harry get to me...

14. Part 14

The next morning, I woke up with Harry next to me in my bed. I smiled, not realizing he had fallen asleep at my place last night. I pushed his curls from his eyes and kissed his forehead, making him move slightly.

“Morning.” I whispered into his ear. His eyes slowly opened, making me smile.

“Good morning beautiful.” Harry whispered, bringing me close to him and kissing my lips. I smiled into the kiss and snuggled close to him after he pulled away. “What do you want to do today?”

“I don’t know…I have a choice?”

“You always have the choice.” I smiled up at Harry as he started playing with the tips of my hair. I sighed and smiled as I rested my head back down on his chest.

“Can we go out to breakfast?”

“Anywhere in particular?” I shook my head and Harry pulled us out of bed together. “Get ready than, love.” I nodded as Harry walked out of my room. “I’ll meet you at my place!” He called back as he walked out. I smiled and begun to get ready for my day with Harry.

“Beth?” Jake said to me, stopping me before I could walk out after I was done getting ready.

“Where are you going?”

“I’m going out with Harry for the day.” Jake made a face and shook his head.

“You need to stay home.”

“What makes you think I’m going to listen to you? I never have in the past, I’m not starting now.”

“Dad is coming home. You know he’ll have a fit if he found out you were seeing someone.” My face fell and I felt tears spring on.

“When will he be home?”

“Not until tonight.”

“Can I spend at least the morning and afternoon with Harry so I can explain…?”

“Yeah, just…be home after lunch please.” I nodded as I made my way outside to Harry’s beach house. As I was walking, I watched people running past me, surfing, tanning, or just running after their kids. Malibu was beautiful year round, but seeing everyone in the summer was always the best.

“Hey beautiful.” I looked up and saw Grant. He draped his arm around me.

“Get off me, Grant.” I said, moving away from his grip.

“Why would I do that?”

“Because I’m seeing someone and you have Mel.” Grant laughed and shook his head.

“We’re like siblings; can a brother not hug his sister?”

“No…he can’t.” I said before I took the steps up to Harry’s two at a time. “Hello?!” I called through the house, walking in.

“Well hello there.” I turned and saw Louis and Zayn sitting in the kitchen.

“Hi…” I whispered shyly.

“You can come in.” Zayn said. I slowly walked in and noticed Niall was with them too. “Are you waiting for Harry?” I nodded and Louis motioned for me to sit with them. I took a seat at the bar seating with them, next to Niall.

“How are you on this fine morning?” Niall asked me.

“I’ve ben better.”

“Harry said you were in a good mood though…” Louis pointed out.

“I was until I got some news I didn’t want to hear.”

“Which was…?” Louis asked.

“I don’t really feel like discussing it…”

“Feel like discussing what?” Harry asked as he walked into the room.

“Hey…” I whispered. Harry looked at me with concern all over his face.

“Are you okay, love?”

“Can we go for a walk?”

“Of course; see you lads later.” They all said goodbye as Harry and I walked out of his house. “What’s wrong, baby?” Harry asked, taking my hand in his and pulling me close to him as we walked.

“My dad is coming home.”

“After Grant, he doesn’t want me seeing anyone.”

“What happened with Grant?”

“Grant is Grant; need I say more?”

“What if I met with him?”

“I don’t know Harry…”

“Will you think about it?”

“Yeah, I will.”

“Good.” Harry kissed my head as we walked to a local diner. We took our seats and had breakfast together and spent until lunch there, which was when we ordered lunch too. After lunch, I kissed Harry goodbye and walked home. I told him I would call him and tell him if I wanted him to come meet my dad, but I told him not to get his hopes up.

“Good, you’re home.” Jake said when I walked in.

“I might bring Harry over later to meet dad…”

“Are you sure that’s smart?”

“Harry isn’t anything like Grant…”

“I’ll leave that choice up to you, but I don’t know if that’s such a good idea. Mom just died and dad is probably a mess.”

“I’ll just see how he is when he gets here. I never told Harry it was a definite.”

“I don’t know…”

“Look, like we got along with mom, I got along with dad too just like we did with mom. I think I can get him to like Harry.”

“Do whatever you want. I’m going out soon.”

“Don’t you need to be home for dad?”

“Yeah, I don’t want to be.”

“You’re an asshole.”

“I was kidding, Beth. I’ll be home; I just need to run to the supermarket down the road to pick up some groceries. Do you want to come?”

“Sure.” Jake and I walked down to his car and went food shopping. After food shopping, we re-stocked the kitchen, stashed all the alcohol in our rooms, and crashed on the couch to watch Miracle while we waited for dad to arrive home.
