Separated at birth

Harry looked at me with intensity in his eyes, “I don’t know why you’re here, or who you are. I don’t know if you’re telling me the truth, or if it’s a pack of lies. But I do know for the first time in my life, I feel complete. I feel like I’ve finally found you Marty, this is crazy and I know it is. But it’s true. You could be my twin like you say, or you could be another person, but whatever it is I don’t feel empty anymore.”

36. Epilogue

One year later…

“Liam can you pass me my top?” I asked him our blanket wrapped around me.

“Why are you in such a rush?”

“I promised myself we would never have sex in my family’s house” I grunted.

He chuckled “yeah but it was pretty damn amazing if I say so myself.”

I rolled my eyes “damn you Liam.”

“If I were you I’d stop complaining or I’ll make you do it again” he warned.

“I wouldn’t even if you tried” I shrugged.

“Oh really?”

I nodded uncertain oh shit.

He pulled me back on top of him, our naked bodies touching. He rolled over so he was lying on top of me. I melted under his touch as he kissed my neck.

“Liam no.”

“It’s up to you, if you don’t want to then slide out under me” he raised his brow.

But who was I kidding I was as bad as he was. I smiled kissing him again, my legs wrapped around him.

My mum knocked on our door meaning we had to stop.

“One second mum” I called out throwing on my clothes.

Liam lay there amused. I hit him on the stomach “get dressed” I hissed.

He sighed putting on his shirt, boxers and jeans. Once satisfied with the way we both looked I allowed her to come in.

“What were you guys up to?” she raised her brow.

Liam and I looked at each other “we were discussing something important” I lied.

“Mm sure you were” she winked at me.

She isn’t like most mums which is what I loved about her. She wouldn’t judge me for making a mistake. She let me express my feelings for Liam in whatever way I wanted, except her and Harry’s rule not in front of either of them. She even helped Liam and I move in together, of course Harry and Hayley lived next door in London. The rest lived within a mile of us, so we saw each other pretty much every day. Starting from last year we have a new tradition, meaning every February, December and April we would come down here for the week/weekend. Liam also allowed us to come to his once a year. His mum is lovely and we got on very well so I look forward to seeing her again.

Liam and I were almost inseparable, the only exception was Harry which trumped that. We saw each other every day or if not we would call. I loved him more than anything. I am the luckiest girl in the world to have found him.

About a month ago we visited our dad’s grave, he said his good byes to him and I kept quiet. We both had a similar opinion on him but in a way we had to love him. Anne came with us and laid a single rose on the surface of his grave. To her dismay I did the same with Jess’s grave, she may have been a traitor and lied to me. But she loved me and for a big part of my life I loved her too, I still do. She was my mum, and I will never forget her.

“Come shop with me” Kalli whined.

I rolled my eyes “fine wait one second.”

Kalli was my best friend. She has been with me throughout everything. Lily was obviously still my best friend, but due to us living so far away we only got to see each other rarely.

The missing posters were soon taken down once they found me and realised I was home. They obviously weren’t allowed to have a problem as she was my mum. Mum got a new boyfriend Jason, who Harry and I both approved of. He said he would take us three on holiday soon, maybe to Portugal.

Kalli and I bought wine, vodka, and cigarettes’. This was going to be a good evening. Another thing I should really tell you is that we have a regular date night every week. For this one in particular my mum and Jason joined.

The table was set, everyone in their places. Louis and Lydia the waitress he met, Kalli and Niall opposite, Zayn and Alissa at the far end, Harry and Hayley sat opposite Liam and I. Of course mum and Jason were the head of the table as they kept reminding us.

Harry tapped his glass silencing everybody.

“I would like to say something.”

“You’re not going to propose are you?” Liam looked at him.

“What no I still have my teenage life to fulfill well what’s left of it, then we can think about marriage” he nudged Hayley making her laugh.

“Anyway as I was saying. I want to propose this glass to family, you guys are my family. We have had adjustments over the years, many have come and go. But we are the survivors and now this is finally perfect” he smiled. “Hayley I raise this glass to you the girl I have been in love with for as long as I can remember. Liam my best friend who if he makes one step wrong with Marty I shall kill. Niall the eating machine of the table” he laughed. “Kalli also my best friend, who I would be nothing without. Zayn my brother from another mother. Alissa the sweetest girl I know. Louis the guy who gets me in every way. Lydia, the girl who finally captured Louis’ heart” everyone cheered. “To my mum the 2nd main woman in my life,” he winked at me. “To Jason the guy who makes her happy,” and then he looked over at me. “And to Marty, the girl who changed my life, to family” he raised his glass.

“Cheers” everyone chanted.

I wiped the tears from my eyes before anyone noticed I was crying.

Harry nodded towards the door, we both went outside.

“How are you doing?” he asked, obviously referring to my many hours of therapy.

“I’m doing well. I mean things will always be hard but they’re really looking up” I smiled.

“I’m glad.”

“How about you?” I asked.

I was the only person who knew he went to therapy to.

“I like my new therapist he’s good” he nodded.

“I love you, you know that?” I asked him.

“You and me,”

“Always” I whispered.
