5. The Destination

Poppy pulls up at an old arcade we used to go to when we were kids. When we were eight, we begged our mothers to take us here to let us play the games. The arcade was twenty years old. The sign was rusty, and the games were old. But, Poppy and I liked it anyway.

"This brings back so many memories," Poppy says as she gets out of the driver's seat. She grabs her purse and starts walking towards the door.

I laugh, "Sure does!  We haven't been here since we were twelve!" I reply. I open the door to the arcade and it lets out a little squeak. It was small, but felt like home.

Poppy digs in her purse and pulls out two Ziploc bags full of quarters. "Divide and conquer," she whispers. When we were little, we made up this game where we would split the quarters, and see who got the most tickets.

Poppy always won.

I sigh and walk over to my favorite game, Pac Man. The arcade actually had two Pac Man games, side by side. I slide in two quarters and the game starts.

"You're really good," a male voice says. I turn my head to the right to see Ethan standing there, looking as good as ever.

"Thanks, you are too," I blush and continue to play the game.

"I  wouldn't of pegged you as a gamer type of girl, Mel," Ethan smiles as I lose my last life. I grab the eight tickets I won and look him in his sparkling eyes.

"There's a lot of things you don't know about me," I smirk and look at the floor.

"Oh, really? Do you play games other than Pac Man?" Ethan locks eyes with me.

"All the time. And, I must say, I am awesome at video games. Just so you know."

"Want to bet on it?" Ethan asks me, smirking.

"Absolutely, what do you got in mind?"

"Video game match as my house. I win, you have to sleepover at my house on Friday, and what do you want if I lose?" Ethan smiles.

I bite my lip. A sleepover? With Ethan? What could top that? "If I win, you have to...apply to this summer camp I applied to!" I laugh at him. "Deal?"

"Deal," he says, shaking my hand. He laces our fingers together and pulls me out of the arcade, towards his car.

Poppy didn't even cross my mind, and neither did Alex.
