(Niall and Zayn)
When bestfriends Simran & Mollie meet two boys on the tube, will something more become of it? Or will heartbreak be the only thing left?

Will their past change the future? Will their future affect the present?

95. Why can't it be fair?

***Niall's POV***

She was sitting in the garden, body encased tightly in a wool blanket. She had a book resting on her lap, the pages blowing slightly in the wind. Her dark eyebrows are drawn together slightly, concentration etched on her face. I smile and draw open the back door, but her head remains down, mind captivated in the book. The wind blows harder this time as I shut the door and I hear her curse in anger, her book shut closed.

"Angel?" I call out and she looks up at me for a moment, smile spreading lazily across her lips.

"Wind trouble?" I ask, climbing onto the swing-seat beside her. She just grunts in annoyance, pulling the blanket up to cover me too. I wrap my arms around her waist, kissing the side of her forehead. We sit together for a few minutes before she sighs in what seems to be frustration.

"What's up?" I ask, watching her grip the book tightly.

"Nothing, I'm just... frustrated." She exhales, laughing slightly under her breath.

"The book." She shrugs, as if it's nothing but I can see deeper than that.

"Spill," I coax in a heavy accent, smiling at her. She contemplates for a moment before the urge to express whatever is bothering her overtakes.

"It's just... The book... the main character she has cancer and so does the other character. They're completely and utterly made for eachother but they'res so much restricting them! Parents, hospitals... just life in general. Then he passes away and she's left behind; wondering what she's possibly going to do with herself. I can't... I just can't comprehend it. Why can't life be fair? Why can't people like that... who are obviously devoted to eachother with everything they have... spend the whole of their lives together? Why can't it just work out for them? Why did he have to die?" She flings herself into my chest, striking me with surprise, tears falling hot and fast down her cheeks. I smile softly, stroking the back of her head comfortingly

"I think that nothing in life is ever fair... But, we're all given what we can handle. I know that," I whisper the last part, kissing her wet cheeks as she looks up at me with moisture leaking from her eyes still.

"I suppose. But what if she can't handle it?" She asks, becoming frustrated again.

"Well, then the people around her can handle what she can't and help her handle it so she can be the person she's meant to be."

"But how can she be what she's meant to be without him?" I chuckle deeply.

"What's with all the questions?" I ask.

"I'm just feeling emotional, that's all." She answers, laughing slightly. I wipe her tears away with the sleeve of my hoodie and she smiles, head resting on my chest.

"Thank you, Niall. I don't know what I'd do if something like that happened to us." She whispers, tinge of fright surfacing in her tone.

"It won't, I won't let it."
