3. Horror

A sudden bolt of lightning spread a bright light through the windows of the house. The door behind me disappeared and left me stranded in a scarily silent house. I couldn't see anything outside but a thick blackness but I knew that it wasn't night as I could still see the sun in the distance. Unfortunately, the decrease in light left me unaware of my surroundings which brought out a sense of fear and loneliness. I tried hard to swallow my fright and decided to walk on through the creepy house.  I tip toed up the creaky stairs with the fear of it breaking from underneath me. I then noticed a door to the left. I walked over to it. I found myself in a small bedroom which was decorated for a young child. Lines of baby dolls sat in a repeated formation with glassy eyes that seemed to watch your every step. In the corner of the room was a toy box which seemed to be dull in colour but still in tact. Drawing were loosely hung up on the walls which showed messy scribbles. The whole room was in a derelict state; no one has been here for a long time. However, other pictures were sprawled across the grubby floor which showed more detailed drawings and words like 'Help Me' and 'she won't leave alone' and worst of all 'She's coming for you.'  I felt a bead of sweat roll down from my forehead as the fear grew bigger inside of me. This couldn't be fake. After the other things that have happened to me, I knew that this book wasn't playing a game. I dashed towards the door to the bedroom but with a quick slam, the door was shut tight; no matter how hard I tugged on the doorknob. I felt myself beginning to wheeze in fear and it was gripping me tight; making it hard to breath. Then I saw it. A dark shadow at the corner of my eye. It was the girl that was mentioned in the pictures.

With huge desperation, I furiously banged my hands against the door in order to escape the room. Nothing happened. I started breathing in huge gulps of air to calm myself down. In a shaky voice I said to the girl:
"  I don't know what you want but please let me go. I'm sorry if you feel sorrow but killing me won't help it. Maybe after I find my sister, I can help you." I said calmly and kindly.
She looked at me with hollow, dark eyes. She said nothing. She reached out a pale hand towards me which made me hold my breath. What was she going to do to me? Suddenly, the door swung open and she said in a whisper:
" Go. Go save your sister. I'm sorry. I don't want to kill you but the book has forced me to do so. But before you go I want to tell you more about this book but we will have to be quick because I don't know how much longer I can withstand this spell to kill."
I stood their obediently, waiting for her to tell me the purpose of this cursed book.
" This book is filled with many genres to lure in children like you in any way possible. You will go through a few of them to get caught in it's trap. In this case, I'm the trap that will stop you from moving forward. The book feeds on children's emotions to keep it's magic flowing through all the genres.  I have to admit though, you have done pretty well to have come this far. You only have one more genre to go through. But know this- you only have one day because if you stay in this book for any time longer, you will become part of the book and you will be trapped in here for all eternity. The book wants to trap the whole world in this book and it won't let anything get in it's way" The ghost girl whispered.

Trapped here for all eternity? That's worst than death.  I've got to save Madeline because she doesn't have long left. And neither do I.

" That sun in the darkness is a reminder for how long you have left. Keep your eye on it if you want to live." she whispered. "I'm sorry, you need to go on now. I'm starting to lose it! Quick, take it; the key to get out of here- if you don't I'm going to kill you!" she whispered in panic.

I took the black key out of her hand and I noticed the door at the end of the corridor. Before I left, I looked back to see her but she was to far gone in the spell; her eyes had turned back to their hollow state and she had a huge grin on her face. I also noticed the menacing words of kill, kill ,kill on her lips. I needed to get out of here. Now.  She was out of the room.I began to run to the exit of this genre but her madness followed. She was walking this way. I quickly thrust the key into the lock and opened the door. I felt her breath in my face. I closed the door with a big might and whispered " Thank you".  She saved my life. Maybe when I get back, I'll save her as well. She deserves it.
