1. Make or break

Kenneth’s POV.

The silence was deafening.  I had never been so scared in my life.  For five seconds no one moved or breathed. I stood on stage with tears in my eyes.  Oh my gosh, they hate me. I never should’ve tried out.  I had always been insecure, but in that moment I felt like the whole world was against me.  Then all of the sudden, the silence was broken.  People jumped to their feet and started applauding. I had never heard such loud applause in my life. People were shouting out praise and it felt so good to be known.  The applause went on for several moments.  I stood there with a huge grin stretching from ear to ear.  When everyone was finally quite, Tulisa turned to me beaming.

“Never has anyone gotten that reaction before from this audience,” she stated, “It’s a yes for me!”  I immediately started to bawl.

Louis started to speak, “I am absolutely amazed!” “I have never heard such talent before, it’s a yes for me too.”  I turned to Gary. My smile faded a little when I saw his frown.

“You are no doubt talented, but perhaps too young for something of this caliber.”  The tears were now back.  “Maybe next year, but for now, I have to say no.”  You could hear the huge intake of breath from the audience.  Several “boo’s” were screamed.  I quickly nodded and smiled simply to reassure myself.  Now to the last judge who would make or break my career as a singer.

Kelly smiled widely at me.  “Yes.”  The audience broke out into cheers and were on their feet again.  I felt like I was on top of the world.  I finally felt like I belonged somewhere.  Here were people who loved me.

“Thank you so much!”  I spoke into the microphone, but it came out as barely a whisper.  I turned and walked of the stage.

When I got backstage, I started screaming and jumping up and down.  I did it for a minute or two before I realized that there were people behind me laughing. I turned around blushing. And almost fainted.
