9. You owe me big time

When she had calmed down she called me into her room. I was actually kind of scared. I walked in and she asked me to close the door. I slowly closed the door and sat down. "you will probably never see Don nor his children ever again." she said, "We have been sort of just friends for a while because i met someone else. Oh Kayla, i think youll really like him. He went to school with me and your dad. His name is Christopher. Hes not as proper as he sounds though. He'll be good for us." ok. I thought maybe this isnt such a terrible night. "Theres just one thing you need to know." she continued. "He just got out of prison a few months ago" I guess my eyes widened showing her the shock and she said "I know i know. it isnt the greatest thing to hear but hes way better than Don. God i wish i could tell her how i feel. i wish i could just say oh really? because last i checked Don has never been to prison. She sat there waiting for me to say something. waiting for any reaction. i was just so flabbergasted. Just then there was a sound of glass breaking. I got up and ran into the livingroom, mom on my hills.

There he was. Don was standing there next to Tyler checking his pulse. "What the heck Don?" my mom asked angily. "What did you do to my son?" He looked at me then mom. He had tears in his eyes. "i-im so sorry." he said. mom was calling 911 and an ambulance and police showed up. Tylers leg was twisted in an unnatural way and i knew it was broken. A policeman came up and asked what happened. I opened my mouth to answer. To say that Don broke in and somehow broke it. To tell the TRUTH. "He was jumping on the couch and fell. his foot got caught in the springs and twisted it." He wrote down what my mom said, nodded, then walked toward a nurse that was waiting for my little brother to be pushed to her so that she could pull his gurny into the ambulance truck. I heard my mom say "you owe me big time" to Don
