Harry’s P.O.V

What the hell was all that noise about? My eyes were tightly closed but all I could hear was shouting and the repetitive beeping.

Beep. Silence. Beep. Silence. Beep.

God, that has to stop. I opened my eyes, light blinding me; the boys and my family sitting by the side of my bed. I slumped back onto my bed, groaning. I felt like complete crap.

“What happened?” I asked my voice no more than a hoarse whisper. My mom turned away from talking to Louis, beginning to talk to me. “Harry, your heart stopped. You were dead for about seven minutes.” I gasped as she tried hard to choke back the sobs that had formed in the back of her throat. I just wanted to comfort her, but I was at a loss of words. I had died. I shouldn’t be alive. “W-what?” I stuttered, not even believing what she had just said. “Well, you were awake and talking to Lou and then you passed out. Apparently, you just stopped breathing” To be honest, she didn’t even seem very sure of her own words. “Shouldn’t I be de-dead?” I stuttered and that’s when the doctor walked into the crowded room.

“Excuse me, but we need to have a private word with Harry.” My mom looked me in they eye and whispered, “Everything will be ok.” How could she be so positive at a time like this? When a doctor tells you that they need a private word, it normally isn’t a good thing. “Promise?” I whispered back, “I Promise.”

“So, Mr. Styles, after the accident you lost a lot of blood, meaning you had to have a lot of transfusions and you have experienced more than eight heart failures in the time that you have been here. Your heart is very weak and irregular meaning that your heart could stop at any moment, we are really sorry to inform you of this, but we advise that you stop performing.” Tears streamed down my cheeks, my hands running through my hair as sobs caught in my throat. “A-are you being serious?” I whispered during the sobs erupting from my mouth after every word. “It’s just our advice; you don’t have to follow it. But with the adrenaline that is associated with going on stage, your heart might not be able to take it. It might stop for good.”

“What did they say, Harry?” My mom asked, her voice laced with worry, “Um, well…” How was I meant to put this, I was ruining the boy’s dreams if I didn’t perform but I could ruin my own life if I carried on performing. “Uh, well, the doctor said that my heart is really weak and…” I breathed out heavily, bracing myself. “He said that it wouldn’t be a good idea to perform anymore.”

The boys eyes widened, tears streaking down there faces, my mom grasped my hand pulling me into what could be classed as a hug as I was lying in the hospital bed. “Oh, my baby, I’m so sorry” “I don’t want to stop performing, I fought for my dream two years ago and I am not going to give up on it. Not because of anything.” I think that either everyone was holding their breath or gasping after I spoke. “Harry, you can’t just disrespect your health like that, even if it means giving up on your dreams. We’d rather you be alive than performing with us.” Typical Liam, always the responsible one. “No Liam, I’m doing this my way.”

“If you’re sure, Harry, we’ll respect your decision.” My mom’s voice was calm, but I was sure that she was holding back tears.

Kitty’s P.O.V

Our new home was nice, don’t get me wrong. It was a small, white cottage in the middle of the countryside, with a massive garden. But it was missing something, I think it was that I had had to leave the greatest friends I had ever had and the most amazing boy. But I guess life isn’t fair.

“Kitty, can you come downstairs, there is someone who wants to see you!” My dad yelled up the stairs. “Ok, I’m coming!” Please be Harry. Or Louis. Or Liam. Or anyone. I ran down the stairs, my feet creating a storm as they hit the carpet. When I reached the door, a lady was stood there. She had dark brown hair that was almost black and I instantly recognised her as Harry’s mom. We had only been introduced quickly once but I was worried when I saw the grave look on her face. “Uh, Hey Anne.” She nodded to me, gesturing the way outside.  Once we had left our house, we began to walk down the small, narrow road a short way away.

“Kitty, I have to talk to you about Harry.” I nodded, scared of the news that might follow. “After they ran the tests in the hospital, they found out that Harry has an extremely weak heart. He has suffered a few heart failures while he was there and they told him that he should stop performing as it would be bad for his health. His heart could stop at any moment and with the adrenaline from performing his heart might stop for good.” It took a moment for the words to sink in. Harry could die at any moment. “But he has decided that he doesn’t want to give up on his dream, he wants to keep performing. His putting himself at risk and the doctors don’t know how long he will survive if he does start to perform. We want him to live as much of his life as he can before…” She stuttered. “Before he might die. You need to be a part of that. You need to help him love again.”
