2. Jesse

Let me introduce to you Jesse; Blonde hair, blue eyes, not too tall, not too small, smart, good person, attends a strict catholic school. Sounds like a nice girl right? Here's the thing: Jesse doesn't exist. Never did. Jesse was a five minute emergency creation by me and Kate. Why did we create a person? Good question. It's got a good story behind it.

After form room, we had our three classes, boring, but I get good grades so whoopee! It came to break time, nothing in particular happened. Another three classes passed. Which brings us up to lunch, when the event that brought Jesse into being unfolded. Charlie was being hounded by Lucy. She asked him out. (A while back, Amy confronted Charlie and asked him if he likes her, but no. They're still friends, but it's a bit strained on Amy's half.) Charlie is smart, but he does not act well under pressure.
"I'm sorry Lucy, but I already have a girlfriend!" Charlie practically shouted in exasperation. Me and Amy had been watching all this, and we just blanked. No idea what to do. Even Kate heard that, and she knew it was a lie, so she ran over. Me and Amy recovered from the shock and realised it too: Charlie was lying. And now he needed assistance.
"Really? Who?" Lucy said, her voice sinking. The look on her face. It was painful.
"Em, her name is, eh, Jesse! She has, er, blonde hair, and, ehm, blue eyes. She goes to another school, em, a catholic one, so it's a secret 'cos we can't be together." Charlie said, following mine and Kate's prompts. Amy just sat back and watched the show. Once Lucy went away from Charlie, me and Kate approached him in a rage. "CHARLIE! WHAT THE HELL? YOU GOTTA TELL HER THE TRUTH!" we shouted in almost perfect harmony.
"No way.  She totally bought it." Charlie said, rather pleased that he had gotten out of the situation.
"Charlie, this is cruel. Tell her." Kate said, attempting to reason with Charlie.
"No way!" Charlie's decision was final.
"Well when this lie falls apart, I am not covering for you." I said, at the time quiet sure that I would. How wrong I was.

"YOu lied to me." Lucy shouted between sobs and tears. "How could you?" she continued. Lucy was more sad than angry over this.
"I'm sorry. It wasn't the right thing to do. I shouldn't have lied. Jesse was just a cover up. For my real girlfriend." Charlie said. For the love of God, Charlie, stop digging your own grave.
"So who is your real girlfriend, Charlie? Selena Gomez?" Lucy wailed. Charlie is starting to panic. Me, Amy, Kate, Clare and Molly are watching from a safe distance. Which is really sitting on a prefab ramp, while they stood in the centre of the yard. Close enough to hear, not so close that we look like stalkers. Charlie looked at me, with a sort of "Please forgive me for what I'm about to do" look.

"Demi." He said it so quietly, it was unbelievable. Suddenly, four staring faces. All very confused looking. And one very sad one. Lucy's.

"We've been hiding it to avoid slagging. Like come on. Lucy, go easy on her." Charlie pleaded with Lucy.
Lucy looked very confused at this. So was I. When did I agree to this? Never. Well, I'm not gonna argue. Charlie's girlfriend? I will gladly take that position.
"Look, I'm not a material guy. It's what's on the inside that counts." Charlie was still begging for me, and for himself. I think I started blushing. At that point, I decided it would be a good idea to get out of there. It was not safe. So I ran. For the music room.

I never mentioned before, but I am a musical person. Guitar, yes. Piano, yes. Singing, yes. So I played a little music. Let off some steam. Gathered myself. I stood up from the grand piano to see my entourage of friends.
"I think you have some things you need to explain." Kate said. She took the lead, being a sixth year, and my borrowed sister. I was facing death stares from Amy, Molly, Clare and Kate.
"I swear to God we are not going out. I swear. This was all him. I didn't say a thing." I pleaded.
"We know you like him. You are a bad liar, and I know you didn't start this." Molly spoke up for me. She can read me like a book.
"So how are we going to handle this?" Amy asked, speaking everyone's mind.
"I-I-I have no idea. Should I go along with it?" it was sort of a rhetorical question. None of them really knew the answer. My heart screamed for Charlie, that I should jump on this chance. Take it. Grab it. Cherish it. Then my mind, it was saying "Don't do this. You'll only break your own heart." and I knew my mind was right. But I follow my heart.
"We need to find Charlie." I said. The determination in my voice surprised even me. "I have a boyfriend to talk to."
