7. Chapter 7

It had been a week since Harry and I kissed. We didn't talk much, but I still slept in the same bed as him. We had been outside only once to get some clothes and food and water. Harry had been trying to get the water in the house running so we could do the dishes and have showers, but for now we were just eating things out of cans and throwing them in the trash. Life was so hard now. I didn't know how long I could stay strong for. For now I was holding all my feelings up inside me and trying not to break down.

I had started to read the book Taylor was reading, it was Cinderella. Whilst I was reading Harry came into the room and sat next to me on the bed. He had changed from his white t-shirt to a clean black one with a new pair of black skinny leg jeans tightly sticking to his thighs and the same pair of converse he had on before.

"We're going out today." Harry said.

I closed my book and looked at him worriedly. It always scared me going outside, it was alright in the backyard but it was different out the front, we were more exposed to the world. Therefore there was more chance of one of us being taken, and I was petrified it would be Harry.

"What are we going out for?" I asked.

"Find something to drive." Harry said whilst fixing his curls.

"Why do we need something to drive?" I asked, my voice getting higher at the end of the sentence.

"I want to get out of town, it's too dangerous here. I know there's more people out there, and they're bound to be on the outskirts of town." Harry trailed off.

It took a little bit of convincing, but Harry finally managed to make me agree with coming outside.

"Ok so here the plan, we'll find a vehicle that looks like it's in good shape, I'll check and see if it's good to drive, and then we can take that. You have to stay on guard and tell me if something's coming." Harry explained.

"What if something does find us?" I asked concerned.

"We'll get to that if it actually happens." Harry replied. I didn't like the sound of that plan, but it was useless disagreeing to what he had to say. We would always end up sticking to what he wanted. We went outside and hid in the bushes and checked whether the coast was clear.

"Lets go." Harry whispered. We ran down the street and checked every good looking car we saw. All of them unable to start.

"Harry your going to alert them." I hissed.

"Don't worry, I've got it." Harry replied.

We moved on to our eighth car, I looked around on guard while Harry attempted to start it. I looked to a house across the street and saw a little boy standing under a tree. He was looking right at us. He stumbled forward and let out a scream, he was infected. In seconds a large group of them were running towards me.

"Harry!" I screamed.

Harry was already out of the car and firing at the zombies with his hand gun. There were too many for him to shoot, he'd never take them all down. As they got closer to me Harry got in front of me and threw rocks and fired at them. Making him their target instead of me.

"Harry what are you doing?!" I shrieked.

"Just get out of here! Run Bo! Run home and lock yourself in, I'll be back soon!" Harry yelled.

I hesitated and he turned his head over his shoulder and looked at me.

"I'll be alright Bo trust me!" He yelled.

I got up and ran for as long as I could. All I could hear behind me was Harry screaming curse words at them and a gun firing. When I got home I ran up to the door and unlocked it and went inside and slammed it behind me. After I locked it I slumped to the floor with my back against it and sobbed for hours.

Harry had been gone for 2 days now. In that time I hadn't eaten or drank anything. I just laid in bed and cried and slept. All I thought about was him, wondering whether he was alive or not. By the fourth day I was sure he was dead. Until I heard someone banging on the door.

"Bo! Let me in! The passwords safehouse!" I heard a raspy tone yell through the wooden barrier between us.

I ran to the door and unlocked it as fast as I could. When I opened the door Harry almost collapsed on top of me. We found our footing and closed the door. The second he did that I wrapped his arms around him and put my lips to his in a heated kiss. I regrettably pulled away for air and gasped.

"I thought I'd lost you."

Harry smiled and put his forehead to mine.

"I'm not leaving you that easily."

He put his lips to mine again and put his hand on the back of my head. I grabbed the nape of his neck and pulled him closer to me. I had missed him so much, I thought I'd never see him again.

"I missed you so much you have no idea." Harry's raspy voice said in the kiss.

"I missed you too." I said smiling with tears smeared over my cheeks.

Harry pulled away and smiled showing his beautiful dimples.

"Don't cry love, I'm here now. Your not alone." Harry chuckled.

"I'm just so glad your here." I said quietly.

Harry held my hands and pulled me towards the bed. We sat in front of each other and started talking.

"Where have you been?" I asked.

"I got stuck in a tree, after you left I started running and I found a big tree and climbed it and they stayed under there waiting for me for days. They eventually gave up and they all went away, and now I'm back here with you." Harry explained.

"Did you sleep much?"

"Not really, oh by the way be careful when your outside because there's two old people who are infected." Harry warned.

I immediately got up and looked through the crack in the boarded up window. I was hoping and praying this wouldn't happen. But it did.

"What's wrong?" Harry asked, walking up to me."

"It's them, it's my grandparents." I said devastated.

Harry came up behind me and put his arm around my shoulders. I looked up at him then burst into tears and wrapped my arms around him. He held me close and whispered sweet, reassuring things in my ear.

"Shhh Bo it's okay, it's going to be alright. They don't need to worry anymore. Shhh Bo everything will be fine..." He whispered.

I fisted my fingers in his t-shirt and sobbed, letting the material absorb my tears. Harry rubbed my back and kissed my forehead. I'd gotten to the point to where I just couldn't cry anymore, I just did nothing. I wanted to cry, but I couldn't. My body wouldn't allow it. Somehow Harry knew this, so he just held me close and sighed. Eventually we let go of each other and did our own things. Harry sat in the kitchen and played with his hands and I went to light some candles. As I did I thought about what had happened before.

"If my grandma and Grandpa are dead, that means by mum is too or she is all by herself." I thought to myself. The thought of knowing my mum was out there alone made my heart ache. And at that time I knew I couldn't take it any longer. I went into the backyard and found a small piece of glass. I picked it up and brought it back inside and went upstairs and locked myself in the bathroom.

"I'm sorry Mum, I'm sorry this happened to you." I whispered with tears in my eyes.

I pressed the glass down on my arm and sliced, I flinched and red liquid oozed out of the wound. I repeated the movement for every bad thing that has happened since I woke up on that street. Soon one third of my arms was covered in cuts and blood. As I was about to cut again I heard Harry came up the stairs.

"Bo? Bo where are you?" Harry said.

I turned my head and realised that I had been up here for an hour. Blood was dripping from my arm all over the floor and it was all over my clothes. If Harry saw me like this he would flip! I had to clean myself up fast.

"Bo are you in there?" Harry asked while knocking on the door.

"Yeah just a second I'll be out soon." I replied unconvincingly.

Harry stopped for a moment then said.

"Why have you been in there so long? There's nothing to do in there."

Oh no, soon he'd think something was up.

"Uh, nothing. Just playing with my hair" I stuttered.

Harry was quiet for a while, and then started getting angry.

"Bo let me in!" He yelled, banging on the door.

"No! I'll be out soon." I said, my voice breaking.

Harry didn't say anything. I heard him walk away slowly. I sighed with relief, but then I heard him running. Seconds after I heard a smash against the door that made me jump. He was trying to break down the door. He tried again, smashing his shoulder against the wooden barrier.

"Bo open the bloody door!" He shouted.

I stood there with tears streaming down my face.

"No! I said I'll come down later!" I replied sobbing.

Harry tried one more time, this time he was successful. The door fell to the floor and he stood there staring at me. I stood in front of the sink holding my wounded arm. With the glass in my hand.

"I'm sorry..." I whispered.

Harry slowly walked over to me and stared at my arm and then at me. He didn't say anything. He reached for the bottom of his shirt and pulled it over his head and took it off. He folded it up, looked at me, put it on my arm and wrapped it around my cuts. All that time I stared at him.

"I'm sorry Harry, I couldn't."

"Shhh." Harry cut me off.

Harry nursed my arm and took me downstairs to lay down. It was getting dark anyway so we decided to go to bed. Harry didn't bother putting on a shirt, his toned muscles flexed as he moved around the room. I hopped into bed and sat cross legged and sat under the covers. Harry came from upstairs and sat next to me.

"There's tonnes of zombies outside." Harry told me. I nodded and stayed silent, all I could think of was Harry's face when he saw me in the bathroom. His face went from worried to disappointed. It completely dropped to sadness. I can't believe he could ever look like that. I didn't say anything, I just looked down at the covers.

"Bo, I don't blame you for what you did. Everyone feels the way you did at some time in your life, you just couldn't take it any longer." Harry said quietly.

"But, your looked so upset." I argued.

"I know, I was upset. I didn't ever think I would see such a beautiful girl like you so sad. I saw that you looked so strong on the outside, but really you were falling to pieces. You just need someone to save you." Harry replied.

I couldn't believe what he was saying, he was taking it so well. He got up and walked into the kitchen and returned with a proper bandage. He untied his t-shirt that was wrapped around my forearm and examined my wounds. He frowned slightly and leant his head down to them he gently placed his lips around my wounds and lightly kissed the area around them. The whole time he did that he never took his eyes off my face. I didn't understand our relationship. Did he like me or not? Was anything ever going to happen between us except for kissing? I didn't even know if we were together. Maybe it was a no strings attached thing. For now all I could do was focus on this moment we were sharing and hope things would go right for us.

When Harry put the bandage on me he stared at me for a period of time. He smiled slightly showing his dimples as I blushed. We got under the covers and cuddled together close so our noses rubbed.

"Goodnight." Harry's raspy tone whispered.
