5. Chapter 5

I'd decided to leave Harry alone for a while. I went into the kitchen to continue cleaning and find something for my hand. I heard Harry go outside and out to the back garden. I looked out the kitchen window and he was standing at the bottom of the stair, tears rolling down his cheeks. He looked at the ground and sat down and burst into tears. I didn't know whether to go out there and support him or let him have a moment by himself. I decided to leave him be, and just watch from inside.

Harry had his head in his hands and his curls were spread over his fingers. I felt so sorry for him. He could possibly have lost the love of his life, to a zombie apocalypse! Half an hour had passed and I'd finished cleaning the kitchen. When I say clean I mean I just stacked all the plates back up on the sink and put the broken ones in the bin. Harry was still sitting on the steps, but he'd stopped crying a bit. His eyes were red and he still had watery eyes but he wasn't sobbing like before. I walked down the hall between the laundry and kitchen and went to the back door and walked outside and sat by the curly haired boy. He looked at me and looked at the floor.

"I must seem like such a baby hey?"

"No, I don't think you are." I replied shaking my head.

"Why? I'm pretty sure you've just seen me cry like a baby out here for ages and I wouldn't shoot Taylor even though she was about to kill you, I just yelled at you before about something that wasn't your fault. It's obvious I'm a coward."

"Your not a coward, you just have better knowledge about your feelings. Your not an asshole like other boys. You actually care about people, even if they are the living dead. You don't change your opinion of them just because they've changed. Or at least that's what's happened so far." I explaied.

Harry looked at me, his eyes gleaming in the sunset. He looked around the yard and looked back at the floor.

"Thanks for not leaving me, even though I yelled at you." Harry thanked.

"It's ok..."

Harry got up and held his hand to help me to my feet.

"Lets go inside, it's getting too dark to be out here." Harry said. I happily got up by his side and we walked inside. We got changed into something more comfortable to sleep in and we watched the sunset out the window upstairs. On the windowsill was one of Taylor's rings. How did it get there? Harry picked it up between his big fingers and frowned.

"I got this for her on our 6 month anniversary..." Harry said quietly.

"Oh Harry." I said and went in to hug him, he wrapped his hands around me and sighed. I felt a couple of tears land on my shoulder from him and I hugged him tighter. He missed her so much, it was terrible to watch a man like this. Before I knew it I was crying too, Taylor wasn't very nice to me but seeing Harry cry just wanted to make me cry. She was so young and was taken from us too soon. Sure she would still be walking the streets but she won't remember us, the only thing on her mind now is to devour the living and that's all. Nothing else.

Harry ad I walked downstairs and started setting up our beds. As I started getting on the couch Harry sat on his bed and said quietly.

"Please, will you sleep with me tonight?"

I looked over my shoulder and saw the curly haired boy look at me with pleading eyes. He looked so vulnerable like that, like he was a little child lost in a supermarket. All he needed was for someone to find him and take care of him and show him the right way.

I walked over to his bed and he got under the covers and I did on the other side. Harry turned over to me and wrapped his arms around me and pulled my back towards his chest and held me close. For some reason, it didn't feel awkward for me. I guess because it wasn't anything like we were a couple, I was only there because he needed someone to be there with him for the night. Harry warm body enclosed around mine and I felt safe. This could've possibly been the best feeling in the world.

*Harrys POV*

I was walking across the road from the petrol station with Bo and Taylor behind me. When we turned the corner that old lady was standing there, she mouthed the words "run" to us. What were we running from? Suddenly I sensed something was wrong, we had to get out of there fast.

"Guys lets get out of here!" I yelled.

The girls started running and we went down the dark alleyway. Taylor let Bo go up the ladder first and she made me go next, I didn't like the idea of that but I knew we didn't have time to argue. The infected were close behind us. I hurried up the ladder but I couldn't go as fast as I would've liked because Bo was going slower then I was. Probably because she has such short legs, she isn't very tall. We managed to get to the roof but I heard a shriek behind me.

"Harry save me!" Taylor screamed.

I turned around and saw that an infected girl had gotten Taylor's legs. I grabbed onto her hands and pulled as hard as I could, those zombies were strong. I was desperate to save my girlfriend from these people but I wasn't strong enough.

"Haaaaaa-rrrryyyyyyyy!" I heard Taylor scream.

I leant over the ladder and watched her disappear into the crowd of zombies. Every now and then I saw glimpses of her being torn apart by these flesh eaters but it was too horrific to watch any longer. I turned around and looked at Bo. She stared at me with sad eyes and held her hand out to me and fell backwards over the edge into another pit of zombies. I was left all on my own in this horrible world.

A clap of thunder woke me up and I searched to someone to hold onto. Bo quickly shot up too and grabbed hold of my arms and whispered.

"Shhhh Harry it's ok it's just thunder, we're safe."

I wrapped my arms around her and held her close to me. She whispered soothing things to me and eventually calmed me down. I'd never liked thunderstorms as a kid, I would hide underneath my bed and my mum would always have to sing to me to calm me down and eventually I would come out. Bo and I laid back down and she drew circled on the tip of my nose.

"You have a funny nose." She whispered.

"Mmmmm" I moaned in response.

"I don't know why, but I've always found noses kind of funny."

"Me too." I replied.

Bo paused and looked into my eyes. She often did that, not to Taylor though, just to me.

"Your eyes are pretty."

"Yeah, they're green."

"I know that."

She continued to draw circles on my nose for a while until she broke the silence again.

"Harry, when you said that the life you had before this wasn't very pleasant. What did you mean by that?"

I stared at her for a moment and thought about the question.

"We'll, my dad left us when I was six, so I was the man of the house for then. And then something happened when I was sixteen so I ran away and I've been by myself ever since. I went to clubs and picked up girls and got into fights and did stuff that I regret. But then I met Taylor, she was at one of the clubs and we just hit it off when we first met. We hung out for a bit and then we started a serious relationship. We were together for a year and a half until now." I explained.

Bo looked at me sadly, she knew I was thinking about Taylor. But when I thought about her, I didn't feel the same way. Seeing her be like how she was a couple of hours ago has changed how I feel about her. She's scarred me in a way. I don't think I can ever see her the same way again. All she wanted to do was kill us now, and I wasn't going to let that happen.

"Harry?" Bo interrupted my thoughts, she stared at me worriedly.

"I'm okay, lets go to sleep." I replied reassuringly.

We wrapped each other in our arms again and dozed off into a deep sleep.
