29. Chapter 29

I woke up to the sound of crows squawking in the distance. I opened my eyes up and the sun shone through the cracks on the boarded windows. My throat felt like sandpaper and my eyes were itchy, too much crying last night. There was still an ache in my heart at the thought of not having Harry by my side. A tear rolled down my cheek as I looked at the other side of the bed where he should be laying, instead there were pillows replacing his warm body. I pulled the covers off of me and looked down at my stomach. You couldn't see the small baby bump through the oversize shirt I wore, but wearing a tight singlet you could see it clearly. I smiled a little at my child inside me.

I got up out of bed and didn't bother changing clothes. I didn't bother with anything. I decided I should put something in my stomach for the baby, so I got an apple from the kitchen and munched on that. I sat at the dining room table alone and wondered what I'd be doing if Harry was here right now. He'd probably be showering me with kisses.

Just as I was about to take another bite of my apple I heard some rattling at the back door. My heart started racing and my palms went sweaty, something was trying to get in. I was alone in a house, with something coming in that could harm me, maybe even kill me. I got up and stood in the corner of the room, hoping it would hide me from it in some way. Harry wasn't here to protect me, so this was the only thing I could do.

The rattling continued and I heard strange noises from the other side, I was terrified. My eyes welled up and a knot formed in my stomach. Soon there was forceful banging on the door and thumping on the wall. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I stood there, frozen. More banging and thumping followed and soon I heard the door fly open and something land on the floor in the kitchen.

"Oomph." I heard a deep voice say.

I sneaked down the hallway and peeked my head around the corner. There was a male sprawled out on the kitchen floor. They wore black skinny jeans, a grey sweater and white converse. From what I could see they had brown, curly hair. Looking at their clothes and hair I knew instantly who it was. The male looked up at me and had green, gleaming eyes. The tears came once again and my legs went weak. My stomach did backflips and my heart raced a billion miles an hour. I couldn't say anything, my voice had gone again.

I couldn't stand for much longer, I felt like I was going to pass out. The male got to his knees as I stumbled towards him and collapsed onto the floor in his arms.

"Harry." I whispered.

We wrapped our arms around each other in a tight embrace, but I could feel Harry trying to not squeeze too tight. Harry put one of his hands on the back of my head and the other on my back. I nuzzled my head into his neck as we stayed like that in silence, apart from my sobs. The occasional 'I'm sorry' would be said by Harry but apart from that, nothing.

Harry tried to get up but I wouldn't let him, I still couldn't feel my legs. I felt one of Harry's hands lose contact with my skin and go down to my legs. He lifted me up bridal style and carried me over to the bed. He laid me down gently and kicked his shoes off, before hopping in with me again.

"I thought you were dead." I cried.

Harry pulled away from me and looked me in the eyes.

"Close, but not quite." He said humorously.

I slapped him on the arm as he lightly chuckled.

"Harry it's not funny, I was in a state last night because of you." I said angrily.

Harry turned from being amused to concerned immediately.

"I'm so sorry, are you okay? What happened?" He asked.

We sat up in bed and looked at each other.

"You just scared the crap out of me. I woke up and you were gone, and then I saw a walker that looked just like you, except it wasn't human." I explained through sniffles.

Harry looked at me sympathetically and held my hands.

"I thought you were actually dead, I didn't know what to do. Harry you really scared me, I don't know if I could've relapsed or not if-"

Suddenly I was interrupted. Harry quickly turned my arms around so he could see my wrists. When he saw they were clean,  he pulled the bottom of my shirt up to expose my stomach. He was frantically looking all over my body for something.

"Harry what are you doing?" I asked.

"What did you do to yourself? Please don't tell me you cut again, please." He begged.

I looked at his pleading face, he looked close to tears. He looked scared, vulnerable.

"Harry, I didn't do anything, I'm alright." I reassured.

Harry's body relaxed as he took a deep breath. I joined our hands together again as he ran his thumb over my knuckles.

"I'm sorry I didn't wake you up before I left." He whispered.

I looked up at him and his face was bent down in shame. A tear rolled off the end of his nose and dripped onto his jeans, he was crying.

"Please don't cry Harry." I said quietly.

I moved closer to Harry and wrapped my arms around him again. He did the same and took a shaky breath as he did so. He silently cried as I rubbed his back and whispered "it's alright" in his ear.

"I didn't mean to scare you, I didn't think I'd be gone for so long. You were fast asleep, I thought I could make it back before you woke up." He explained guiltily.

"Let's not talk about it, at least your here and we're both safe." I replied.

I pulled away from Harry and he nodded his head, letting his curls fall over his face. I pushed them to the side and looked at him in the eyes. I leant forward and placed a soft kiss to his full lips and we leant our foreheads together. I wanted to stay like this forever.

"How's the baby?" He asked.

I leant back and pulled Harry's shirt up that I was wearing. I showed him the bump and looked down at my stomach. Harry placed his hands around my belly, even though they covered up basically all my skin.

"Hello baby..." He whispered.

I smiled as he stared contently at my bump. I liked watching him as his face was covered in fascination, it was cute. Harry tickled my stomach lightly which caused goosebumps to form on my skin. He must've noticed because he looked up at me with a smirk on his face.

"Am I giving you goosebumps?" He asked, a hint of amusement in his voice.

I nodded and felt my cheeks heat up. Harry chuckled and played with the ends of my hair.

"I found something yesterday." He said.

"People." He answered.

My mouth dropped slightly and I raised my eyebrows. I felt a weird sensation in my stomach at the knowledge that there were actually other survivors out there.

"Is that why you were gone for so long?" I asked.

Harry nodded. "There weren't that many, but they were at the supermarket a couple blocks away. I followed them for a while until it got really dark, it was too dangerous to go home. So I had to sleep on a roof of a house. He explained.

"How many were there? Where did they go? Did they see you?" I asked.

"Woah woah woah, one question at a time please." He exclaimed.

"Well answer the questions." I replied impatiently.

"Ok, they didn't see me. I didn't want to go to them yet in case they were dangerous, and I couldn't go to them without you. What if they made me come with them and wouldn't let me get you? I just followed them to this place on the other side of town. I had to stop following them though because I was too far away from home and that's just wide open land out there. You'd need a car or some kind of transport to go through there." He explained.

"Well did they have any transportation?" I asked.

"Yeah, they had 2 mini trucks." He replied.

I sunk down into the bed a little bit and sighed, envying their resources. Harry looked at me, waiting for a reaction.

"Do you want to go with them?" I asked.

Harry opened his mouth to say something, but then closed it again. Looking to find a good way to answer.

"It would be better for us to go there. We'd be safer, especially you with the baby and all." He replied.

He knew I didn't want to go, I didn't want to be around other people. What if they judge me for being pregnant? What if they call me a slut, or a whore? What if they don't approve of us having a child. What if they don't take us in because of me?

"Bo, are you okay?..." Harry asked slowly.

My heart started beating faster and my palms went sweaty again. Just thinking about approaching new people made me anxious.

"Y-yeah I'm fine." I lied.

Harry looked at me, clearly not convinced.

"Bo, I'm not an idiot. What's wrong?" He asked sternly.

"I'm just scared of what they'll think of me. What if they don't accept us because we're having a baby? What if they don't like me?" I blurted out.

Harry frowned and shook his head.

"Bo, they can't do that. We may be in an apocalypse but they're still as human as we are. I'm sure they'll help us. If they don't accept us then at least we'll know we tried." He replied.

I looked down guiltily and played with my fingers. Not wanting to meet Harry's eyes. Harry put his pointer finger under my chin and lifted my head up to see him. He had a small smile on his face, showing his gorgeous dimples. Harry's smile was contagious, because he had me smiling after a little while too. Harry breathlessly laughed and gave me a kiss on the nose.

"So are we going to go with them or not?" He asked.

I sighed in defeat and nodded my head slightly.

"I have no choice, you're the one who makes the decisions. I'm just along for the ride." I said in reply.

Harry laughed and wrapped his arms around me.

"I love you." He said.

"I love you too."
