Wouldn't Be A Lie

Her head was in the clouds, and his feet were glued to the ground. Playing like lovers in the moonlight, but never stepping out into the sunlight.

3. Flashed Junk Mind

We were young souls

on the junk-yard

Now we are stunned minds

Full of junk-goods

But I feel your heartbeat

just like mine

all the time

And we were bound to the city life

Flashlights when we're falling into the night

Focused on what you feel

Just when you were calling her love that day

>> His hand in mine as we walked down the pier, overlooking the beautiful sunset. He turned to look at me, he got out a paper airplane necklace and fastened it around my neck, the charm settled in the hollow of my collarbone. His mouth opened I hoped to tell me he loved me , but instead a blaring sounds came out. <<

I woke up , confused only to realize my alarm had gone off. I groaned and put a pillow over my head. I sat up in bed and turned off my alarm. I stretched and went into the bathroom. I took a quick shower and combed my dripping hair. I walked back into my room and changed into white lace shorts and a pink flowy top. I slipped on white sandals, and went back into the bathroom where I blow-dried my hair straight. I walked down the stairs and sat down at the table.

"Good morning, mom," I said with a sleepy smile as she dished out pancakes, I inhaled their sweet scent and reached for the syrup.

"Morning baby," she said turning back to the stove to make more pancakes.

"Morning daddy," I said to my father who was flipping through the newspaper.

"Good morning darling," he said setting his newspaper down as my mother set down his steaming plate of pancakes.

My father, Daniel Anderson, was a big shot lawyer who seemed to be always at the office or off on business trips. This was one of the rare days he joined us for breakfast. My mother sat down and we all began to eat. When I was done , I put my plate in the sink and headed back upstairs to brush my teeth. I went back into my room and got my backpack and went back downstairs and sat in the living room, watching cartoons.

"You ready to go?" my dad asked.

"You're taking me to school?" I asked.

"Yes, is that surprising?" he said smiling.

"Sort of. You're just almost never home," I said standing up.

"I'm sorry doll. But you know how things work," he said heading out the door.

We got into his sleek silver 2014 Audi and drove off to school. I fiddled with the radio until I found the station I was looking for. The song "Bittersweet" by Ellie Goulding came on, and I sang along to the words.

You arms around me come undone.

Makes my heart beat like a drum.

See the panic in my eyes.

Kiss me only when you cry.

Cause you always want what you're running from.

And you know this is more than you can take.

Baby don't forget my name.

When the morning breaks us.

Baby please don't look away.

When the morning breaks us.

Oh your touch,so bittersweet.

Baby don't forget my name.

When the morning breaks us.

We arrived at the drop off/pick up zone and I got out and waved goodbye. I slung my backpack over my shoulder and walked through the gate. I saw Samantha and she waved me over. She enveloped me in a big hug and I smiled at her.

"What's up Sydney?" she asked.

"Nothing much. I'm real tired though," I said rubbing my eyes.

"I'm not and I didn't fall asleep until like midnight! You fell asleep at like what , 9 ?" she said teasingly.

"Yeah," I admitted.

"It's okay, you're still cooler than all these Whores combined," she whispered.

Eli managed to hear her and shot her a look. Sam rolled her eyes and flipped him off.

"Sam, leave him alone," Sabrina said.

"Who asked you to speak?" Sam retorted.

Sabrina gaped at Sam and she turned to look at Eli. Eli turned his eyes away from her and ignored her. She looked hurt and she just shook it off, got up and walked over to the rest of her crew. They clustered together and started to whisper.

"Say it to my face!" Sam shouted to them.

"Sam, do you really have to be like that to her?" Eli asked.

"Yes, I do. If she's gonna be like that, and practically squash you with her saggy ass, then yes," Sam said.

"Sam, don't be like that," I said.

"Well I'm not gonna pretend to like her when I can't stand her," Sam said angrily.

"I think we all know you don't like her," Eli said warily.

"Just making sure, it was loud and clear," Sam shot back.

"It's more than loud and clear, it’s obnoxious and annoying," he said.

"All you two ever seem to do is fight" I said teasingly.

The bell rang and my question was left unanswered. Sam and I headed up the stairs and back into Geometry. Mr. Hoff was an absolute bore. He went on about reviewing algebraic equations as I drifted off into my world. Sam uncapped her thin black Sharpie and began doodling on her arm. She drew hearts and began to draw fake rings around her fingers. She took hold of my arms and began drawing an intricate rose.

"That's pretty," I whispered.

"Thanks. I’ve always secretly wanted to be a tatto artist, but don’t tel mom. She’d flip," she said smiling.

Her brown eyebrow furrowed in concentration as she detailed the stem and thorns.

"Miss Plascencia and Miss Anderson what can possibly be more interesting than what we are learning today?" Mr. Hoff asked annoyingly.

"My artistic talent," Sam replied.

"Well why don't we save that for art class, this is math now pay attention," he said turning his attention back to the board as he scribbled down our homework.

I got out my book and a piece of paper and began to do my homework, Sam copied me and did the same. We worked intently until the bell rang, and we headed to our lockers to put our things away. Our lockers were at each end of the hallway, I left Sam at hers and walked towards mine. I opened it and put my binder and backpack inside and closed it.

"You're new here huh?" asked an unfamiliar voice.

looked up to see a blonde, blue-eyed stranger who had the longest eyelashes I had ever seen on a boy.

"Yes, I am," I said.

Well welcome," he said smiling.

"Thank you. I’m not trying to be rude or anything, but who are you?" I said standing up.

"I'm Austin, nice to meet you," he said shaking my hand.

"Sydney," I said.

"Well Sydney I'll let you go, because I have to head down to P.e.," he said.

"So do we," Sam interrupted.

"Well why don't I walk you lovely ladies down," he said.

"Oh you don't have to," I said.

"Let the man walk us down," Sam said linking her and my arms together.

We walked down the stairs and Austin walked us to the door of the locker room.

"It was nice to meet you," I said.

"You too, Sydney," he said walking away hands in his pockets.

"Oh my God Sydney. Do you know who that is ?" Sam said.

"Austin?" I said unsure.

"Austin Coombes. Only the cutest guy around. He has all the girls falling at his feet, and he wants you," she said wickedly as she opened the locker we shared.

"No, he doesn't. He was only being nice," I said undressing.

"Honey, Austin isn't nice unless he wants something. And he wants you," she said winking as she slipped on her gym shirt.

"Whatever, how do you know he doesn't want you?" I asked putting on my shirt and shorts.

"Because, he knows who my brother is, and Eli hates Austin," she said rolling her eyes.

We walked out and sat down waiting for our teacher to show up and take roll. Sam was smiling as she looked behind me. I turned around to see Austin walking my way. He looked amazing in his P.e. uniform even though it looked completely unflattering on me. I turned back to Sam and blushed.

"Oooo girl, you like him too," she said slapping my arms excitedly.

"Ow ! Do not," I said. covering my cheeks with my hands.

"May I say, your P.e. uniform looks lovely on you," Austin said as he walked next to me.

"Thank you, I could say the same thing about you," I said.

Sam walked away and sat down on her number.

"Hey, I'm having a kickback this Friday, why don't you come? Bring Sam too," he said.

"Okay. I'll be there," I said.

"Well I have to head back. But I'll see you there," he said.

I sat down on my number and Sam crawled over to me.

"Sooooo, what happened?" she asked.

"We have somewhere to go Friday night," I said. smiling.

"No way. You got us invited to Austin's party," she said grinning.

"I did," I said.

"Eli is gonna be so mad when he finds out I'm going," she said happily.

"Do you live to torture Eli?" I teased.

"It's my job," she stated.

The teacher took roll and told us to walk 8 laps. We stood up and walked. Discussing what we should wear and Sam couldn't hide her excitement. The next two periods were full of laughter and us making plans. Sam would head over to my house this afternoon, and she would help me pick out an outfit for Friday. We only had a day to pick out the perfect outfits, since it was Wednesday. Lunch came quickly and we headed out to the lunch tables.

"Eli, guess what?" Sam said.

"You're moving to Africa and never coming back?" he asked hopefully.

"No. Sydney and I here are going to Austin's kickback Friday night," she said waiting for his anger to rise up.

"Are you sure you're old enough to be up that late?" he said.

Sam blushed and punched her brother. He dodged her and pushed her. He looked at me and gave me the meanest look I had ever seen.

"What about you baby girl. You allowed to be awake past you bed time?" he asked.

"Shut up," I said madly, more angry at the butterflies that rose in my stomach than at his remark about my age.

"You're just jealous," Sam said.

"I'm not, because I'm going to be there too," he said coolly.

"There goes the party, then," Sam said.

"Sabrina is gonna be my date," Eli said looking at me.

"Ugh that whore, I'd rather you have said you were taking John," Sam said crossing her arms. I laughed and Eli shoved me. I shoved back.

"Don't talk about her like that," he said.

"I don't care. Do whatever you want with her. But Sydney's date is Austin," Sam said.

"What?" Eli asked.

"Austin is my date," I said.

I swear I could see a look of anger in his eyes, but I probably imagined it. Just then Sabrina showed up and sat on Eli's lap. I glared at her. What was I doing ? I didn't care. I shouldn't care. Eli was nothing to me. He was just my friend's annoying and obnoxious older brother. The rest of lunch was spent by Sam verbally attacking Sabrina and her crew of whores , and Eli telling her to shut up, and me defending Sam and both Eli and Sabrina glaring at me. The rest of the day I spent thinking about how Friday night would go. My mom picked me up and as soon as Genevieve dropped Sam off at my house we ran upstairs and dropped our things in my room. I immediately ran to my closet doors and opened them, letting Sam inspect everything inside.
