The A Team

"By Matinee I love you! Daddy will be here to pick you up at 3 ok?" I ask kissing my daughters forehead.
"Ok mommy" she says before she runs off to the middle of the field to start football practice. (Soccer)
"She looks so much like you" Niall says as I open the car door.

"Yeah I guess, but she has your eyes, and let's hope she doesn't play like me haha" I laugh as I put the car in reverse. Niall snorts really loud. "Ha yeah, lets pray, not hope Hahaahaha" He cackled.
"Do you remember my first practice annnnd the first time we met?" I ask looking at him out of the corner of my eye"How can I forget, it was the first time I ever saw my soul mate. And broke a bone." He whispered the last part.
"HAY it's not my fault your face was in the way" I laugh
"Oh yea blame it on that" He teased.

2. Chapter 2

I sat up straighter and cleared my throat ready to speak but Hanna cut me off, “We’d love for you to join us!”

I was kind of still worried about the fact that Niall was checking me out and smiling at that other girl. I mean why would he do that? Justin and Niall sat down and Niall sat his case of beer on the table.

“So Laramie, you were pretty good at practice today. How long have you been playing?” Justin asked.

“Well I’ve been –“ Justin cut me off and looked at Hanna.

“Yeah that’s cool. So Hanna how long have you playing?” He flirted.

I rolled my eyes and Hanna started to flirt back with him. Niall raised his eyebrow at me and smiled.

“So before this jerk face cut you off you were telling me how long you’ve been playing football.” He said.

“Well I don’t really. I just play around mostly, just for fun.” I said.

“Well if it’s worth anything I think that your pretty good.” He said.

My face got a little red and Niall smiled wider. His smile was so beautiful and mesmerizing that I couldn’t keep my eyes off of it. I blushed more when I noticed that I was staring at him and he let out a little chuckle.

“It’s okay, you can stare. I know that I’m pretty.” He said batting his lashes.

“Oh as if blondie.” I said throwing a tater tot at him.

“Hey that’s not fair! I don’t have any food to throw back at you.” He pouted.

All of a sudden something flew across the table and bounced of my cheek. I looked over at Justin to see him smiling suspiciously and trying not to laugh. Hanna picked up all of her tater tots and dumped them on Justin’s head, his smile vanishing.
“Oh my gosh Hanna!” I laughed.

Niall joined me in laughing and now everyone was amused except Justin. “Hey man I had your back you’re supposed to have mine too.” Justin pouted and Niall pinched his cheek. “Oh Justin you know you’re so cute when you pout but it’s not nice to tease these little lady’s, show some respect.” Niall said in a teasing voice.

“I sense a little love triangle forming.” Hanna whispered to me and I scowled.

“Hanna! Would you quit it? There is no way that he’ll ever go for me I’m just a freshman. Besides I sense a you and Justin thing going over there.” I said, making Hanna blush.

“You know just because you’re a freshmen doesn’t mean he won’t like you.” She said.

My phone beeped and I looked at the screen, two missed text. One from my lab partner, one from my cousin. checked the time and groaned.

“Sorry Hanna but I have to leave. It was nice seeing you all, bye.” I said getting up grabbing my jacket.

“I’ll walk you home.” Niall said.

“No it’s okay Niall you don’t have to do that.” I said.

“I’m walking you home Laramie. That’s final.” He snapped.

Justin got quiet and Hanna narrowed her eyes. “Look here mister senior-“ Justin cut Hanna off, with his lips.

My jaw dropped and I looked at Niall who had a smile on his face all traces of seriousness off.

“Let’s go.” He said, grabbing my hand and pulling me away from the sonic.

“Look I’m sorta sorry I snapped back there Laramie.” He admitted rubbing the back of his neck.

“Sort of sorry?” I questioned with a raised eyebrow.

“Well sorry for being rude and demanding and less sorry for being rude in demanding. It’s dark out and I don’t think you, a beautiful young lady, should be walking home alone. I just don’t like the idea of it.” He said.

I yanked my hand from his and continued to walk, not caring if he was with me or not.

“First off I am not that young and second I can take care of myself. Go walk your girlfriend home.” I snapped back.
“I didn’t mean it like that and you know it and I don’t care if you think you can take care of yourself, I’m not taking chances. And who told you that I have a girlfriend?” He said. He was mad now as he grabbed my wrist and looked at me with is intense blue eyes.

“No one had to tell me, the way you smiled at that girl with the brown hair said it all, like you loved her.” I said.

Niall laughed at me and I pulled my wrist from his grasp walking away.
“Wait Laramie! I’m sorry. I looked at her like that because I do love her.” He said.

“And this is making me like you how?” I said.

“I love her because she’s my sister. I don’t have a girlfriend. Yet.” He said.

“Once again this is making me like you how.” I said.

“Well I say yet because I was planning on asking you out on a date at the end of the night, but you’re so complicated and impatient so I guess I’ll ask you now. Laramie would you like to go out with me this weekend?” He asked.

“As intriguing as that sounds there is a game this weekend. And because you were at practice I suppose you should know that I am in it, Sorry. Why were you at practice anyways?” I said.

“Well I was at practice because my sister, Casey, is on the team. And guess that I’ll just have to come and watch you play and take you out to dinner after.” He smiled, he took my hand and we continued to walk towards my house.

“This is the way to your place right?” He asked.

“Um yeah. How did you know that?” I asked.

“Well I have a friend who lives in this area as well and I may have seen you a few times.” He admitted.

“Oh.” I blushed.

“That sounds really stalkerish doesn’t it?” He said embarrassed.

“No it sounds like you saw me a few times while hanging out with friends, completely normal. Besides its okay to stare I know I’m pretty.” I mocked his earlier words.

“Ha very funny, Laramie.” He said. “But a lie. Your more than I pretty, your beautiful.”

“Aww shucks, you sure now how to charm a girl.” I said.

“Well you’re beauty makes my job of charming you easy.” He joked.

When we got to my house he walked me up to the porch. “So this is me.” I said awkwardly.

“I know.” He replied.

“Well I guess-“ I was cut off.

“Laramie you’re home! I’m so hungry please feed me!” My cousin Michele who had opened the door dramatically and then paused when she saw Niall there.

“Michele you are such a two year old. Go out and get your own food, I did.” I said.

“But I don’t wanna!” She whined and when I gave her a glare she grabbed her keys and said “Fine. I’ll be back but no boys in the house while I’m gone. That means you kid.” She pointed at Niall.

“Oh hush and leave.” I said.

When she left I smiled at Niall and apologized. “Sorry about her, she’s my cousin.” I said.

“She seems… interesting.” He said.

“She is. Well I guess I’ll see you tomorrow at school then?” I said.

“Nope. I have a thing. But I was wandering, I know your cousins said no boys in the house but you have a backyard and a soccer ball right?” He asked.

“Yeah why?” I questioned.

“Well we are going to practice.” He said.

“Oh okay. Well let’s go then.” I said.

We walked to the backyard and started to kick the ball around and talk.

“So where are your parents if you don’t mind me asking?” He said.

“Well my mom and dad are back at home. Michele is starting college and she’s too immature to be by herself so my mom thought living here would be a good idea. Heavens only knows why they thought that was a good idea.” I teased kicking the ball back to him and he laughed.

“Well she seems nice.” He said.

“She’s lovely.” I said.

After five minutes we were bored with it and Niall got an idea.

“How about a challenge? Let’s see if you can kick the ball to the hole in the fence.” He suggested.

“Okay, shouldn’t be too hard.” I said, setting up. I closed my eyes and kicked the ball hoping it would hit the hole, it didn’t. I opened my eyes when Niall said

“Holy crap! How did you aim that far off?” He said holding his nose.

“Oh my god Niall I am so sorry, how is your nose?” I asked.
“Well you don’t have aim but you do have some power to that kick of yours.” He teased.

I suddenly felt really bad and made my way to him slowly.

“I’m not mad, L. It’s okay I just need a towel.” He said.

“Okay well I don’t care what Michele says you can come in and I’ll get you that towel,” I said, pulling him inside.

“Such a rebel.” He teased.

“Oh be quiet or I’ll hit you in the face with a football again.” I said.

“Oh sure. But for real you had to go for the nose, my beautiful face is destroyed.” He said.

“Oh don’t be so dramatic. Sit right there and I’ll go get a towel and some ice.” I said.
When I got back he was standing and looking at a few pictures on the wall and smiling. “You were a cute kid.” He said.

“How can you tell that’s me and not Michele?” I asked.

“Because of your eyes. They’re the most beautiful thing and I don’t think I’ll ever forget them.” Cue my intense blushing.

“Thank you. Now sit and let me look at your poor nose.” I said.

He sat on the couch and I put the towel to his nose and when I did I winced. “It’s my face not yours why are you wincing?” He joked.
“Because I think it’s broken and I feel awful about it.” I said.

“Well even if it is that’s okay. I enjoyed spending time with you. I can’t wait for this weekend so I can take you out and get to know you better.” And I smiled.

We talked for twenty more minutes and then he had to go. When he left he kissed my cheek and I of course blushed. When Michel got home we talked about Niall a little longer and that night I went to sleep with a goofy smile on my face.
