Broken Crystals

When Crystal collapses in the middle of the road after another beating, headlights are the last thing she sees. She wakes up in a strange house, surrounded by five strange boys. She refuses to relax around them or be herself. But can the one Irish boy with the beautiful blue eyes show her what it means to be loved and fix her cracks?

10. Tonight

Niall's POV

I was sitting in the kitchen with Harry and Liam; debating over whether to tell Crystal or not. It was clear that she didn't know who we were. According to Zayn, she was pretty shocked when she found out about Perrie. Guess she didn't know about that either. I chew on my lip till the bitter taste of blood fills it. I run a hand through my hair and sigh.
"Just tell her, mate." Louis says, giving me a worried glance.
"I don't know how to," I admit.
"You could..." Harry starts, pondering for a moment.
"You could take her tonight and then tell her before you leave. That way she will have to believe you." He suggests but I shake my head.
"Taking her tonight would be too big of a step," I remind him and he frowns.
"You know what the press are like too. They would jump to conclusions," I add and Lou gives me a look.
"But you do like her, right?" He asks, eyebrows raised. I shrug, not ready to admit it to them.
"There's no point lying, Nialler. It's pretty obvious," Harry chuckles deeply. I roll my eyes at him and look up as Liam enters the kitchen.
"So, who's coming with us tonight, then?" He asks, rubbing his hands together.
"Eleanor is," Louis says.
"Perrie too," Zayn adds, coming in after him.
"Danielle can't though," Liam tells us and Harry and me nod.
"What about Crystal?" Zayn asks, jumping up on to the counter and looking at me.
"I'm not sure, I wasn't sure how to ask her. She doesn't even know about like... you know.. ." I run a hand through my hair again and sigh.

"Know about what?" Crystal asks, walking into the room. Her short top reveals the scars and slit marks that trace her wrists. I wince internally at the sight of them and she hides them behind her back, shamefully. I hated the way she felt the need to hide herself all the time. She was beautiful. Perfect. She didn't need to hide because her skin wasn't flawless. I wish I could make her believe it though.

"Erm..." I start nervously, meeting her eyes.

"Look, Niall here was wondering if you wanted to come with us tonight to an award night." Louis asks, shooting me a reassuring look.

"Awards for what?" She asks, frowning at me.

"You'll find out," Is all I can bring myself to say. I felt bad, lying to her. It hurt me. But I had no choice. She was surely going to flip when she found out. She would probably run off. She had told me how she hated attracting attention to herself. Being on the national news and front pages of newspapers was probably not the best idea.

"Perrie's going." Zayn tells her and I see her tense face relax a little. She liked Perrie; I could tell. I didn't think that she'd had many friends before. She never thought herself worthy enough.

"And so is Eleanor," Louis adds.  She contemplates for a moment; frown lines appearing inbetween her eyebrows.

"Yeah," She decides, rubbing a hand up over her scars.

"Great," I beam and she gives me a small shy smile in return.
