Broken Crystals

When Crystal collapses in the middle of the road after another beating, headlights are the last thing she sees. She wakes up in a strange house, surrounded by five strange boys. She refuses to relax around them or be herself. But can the one Irish boy with the beautiful blue eyes show her what it means to be loved and fix her cracks?

14. The Truth

Crystals POV

"Ready?" Niall asks, looking at me with those caring blue eyes. I bite my lip and nod, feeling bile sloshing around my stomach. We were the only ones left in the limo; the rest had already gotten out. I could hear the wild screams and flashes of cameras the moment Zayn opened the door. I squeeze Niall's hand and feel the sweat raise to my palms. Niall steps out infront of me, his shoes crunching on the path. More screams erupt and I can't see straight from all the bright lights. All I can see is Niall's encouraging smile as he takes my hand again and helps me out. I tug self consciously on the hem of my skirt and do the best to hide my wrists behind my dress as Niall leads me by the hand towards a pair of large doors.
"Niall! Niall!" People call from all around us. Huge security guards block of the masses of bodies.
"Who's the girl?" Others call.
"Scars, fat, ugly, worthless. Why is he with her? Who is she? What is she doing with him? Who does she think she is?" I can hear them all. Surrounding me. Squashing me. Suffocating me.

Niall's POV

I clutch her hand tightly as we make our way towards the venue doors. I could hear people shouting out to me and her as we push through the crowds. Security guards in huge black jackets were trying their best to stop the people getting to us but they couldn't stop the shouting. I look over my shoulder and see Crystal's terrified face. She meets my eyes and I give her a reassuring smile but she doesn't return it. She was absolutely horrified. What had I done? Why had I brought her here... I knew this would happen. She would surely run away now. What had I done?
We finally make it to the doors and more guards hurry us through. It's quieter in the lobby of the venue; people mingling around doing a few interviews. It was calmer. I spot the rest of the boys and Perrie comes running over when she sees Crystal. I glance at her as Perrie wraps her into a hug; she was clearly shaken up. Her lower lip begins to tremble as Perrie rubs a hand up and down her back. I look back out at the night, the crowds going wild as more celebrities show up.
"Crystal, breath. Breath," Perrie says to her and I watch helplessly as Crystal begins to hyperventilate.
"Tell me the truth, Niall!" She shouts. I realise then that she's losing it. She couldn't take not knowing anymore... And after that I had no choice but to explain. I knew it would hurt her; it was my fault. I had dragged her into this when I was trying to make her life better. I'd just made it worse. Tears of frustration and anger with myself fill my eyes and I try to contain myself.
"Crystal, I..." I start and tears begin to spill from her eyes. Cameras begin to notice us then; already asking questions. Perrie takes her hand and drags her away, into one of the toilets. I clench my fists as I watch the door swing closed.
"Come on, mate." Harry says, placing a hand on my shoulder. I nod reluctantly, giving one last look at the door before letting the boys lead me away.
