One Way or Another

Jenkins Ocean is nothing but a trouble maker after her parent's death. She's at an orphanage since she's not 18 yet. Her dad's all-time best friend since high school -Simon- decides that he's interfering.

Taken in by Simon Cowell, she meets what seemed at first the pain in the ass called One Direction. They all seemed nice to her, everyone but bad boy Zayn, though Zayn's not really fond of her either.

20. Mood change and room change

Cupcake and I were lost. It was dark already and I felt she had begun to tremble. She looked around and I placed my jacket over her shoulders. She looked at me, puzzled. "What was that for?" She asked.

I shrugged, and answered, "You were cold." She began to take it off, but I stopped her. "No, it's fine. I'm not cold. Plus, I owe you for what happened last night." I admitted.

I saw her change her face. She was all happy and smiley at first, and then she was frowning and glaring at me. She took my jacket off and threw it at me. She looked around and sighed. "How do you plan on returning?"

I shrugged. "I don't know." She started walking towards a dock. "What are you doing?"

"What do you think I'm doing? I'm trying to get a cab. I want to go home. I'm cold." She nagged and I rolled my eyes.

"Then why did you give me my jacket back?"

"Because I don't want it."

"You'd rather be cold than have my jacket..."

"No, I'd rather be cold than have you nag later about you being sick."

"So I have to be taking care of you when you're sick?"

She turned to me when we reached the dock. "Oh, you don't have to worry about me."

We managed to stop a water cab and we got to the hotel without saying a word to each other. I hopped into the elevator on my own. Cupcake didn't come with me. Instead of going to my floor, I went to the lads' floor. I knocked on Harry's room. He opened with a puzzled look. "Mate, where were you? We lost you both. Where is Jen?"

"On the lobby. Hey, I wanted to ask you something."

"Sure, mate, what is it?"

"Did I do something to Jen last night?"

"Not that I know, mate, you were mean to her, but the usual. Maybe you should ask Li, he was the one who took you to your room."

"Alright, thanks, mate."

I went to Li's room and he opened. "Are you both alright? Where's Jen? Don't tell me you left her, Zayn!"

"No, no! Not at all. I think she's on the lobby."

"Aye, what is it?"

"Did I do something really awful to Cupcake last night?"

"It's not what you did to her, it's what you told her."

"Oh, god, what did I say?"

"You said that her parents were lucky to be dead because they didn't have to deal with her anymore."

I can't believe I said that. I was mean, but I never would've crossed that line. "Really? I have to go apologize!" I yelled at Li and he laughed. I ran to the elevator and ran towards my door. I opened it. "Cupcake? Cupcake?" She was nowhere to be seen. I looked everywhere. I took the phone and called to Li's room, but he didn't answer.

When Zayn made me remember about last night, I threw his jacket at him. I walked away and we began to argue, though I have to admit that him nagging about me returning his jacket was really sweet.

We got into a water cab and went to the hotel. Fruit loop went into the elevator, but I went to the Front Desk.

"May I help you, miss?" The man that was there asked.

"Yes, I'd like another room, please?"

"Key, please?" He asked and I gave it to him. We typed something on the computer. "Here you go, miss." He said as he gave me another key. "Room 612, 6th floor."

"Thank you." I said as I walked to the elevator. I stepped out on the 7th floor and wished the door to Fruit loop's room was open. Thankfully it was. I grabbed all my things and headed to the elevator again. I stepped down oh the 6th floor and walked to my new room. I opened it and closed the door behind me. The phone rang and I answered. "Hello?"

"Hello, miss, you have a call from room 507. Liam Payne?" A voice said.

"Yes, it's alright."

"Why did you change your room?"

"Fruit loop. But don't tell him. I'm really angry."

"He's sorry, you know?"

"I bet he's just pretending. He doesn't care."

"Well, promise you don't say a word."

I heard strange noises on Liam's room. "Liam, everything alright?" I asked. There was no answer, but I could hear an argument, but I couldn't understand the words.

"I'm sorry! I really am! I never meant what-" the call ended, but I hadn't hung up.
