May's POV

I wiped away the tears from my cheeks and sweat from my forehead, trying to take regular deep breaths. I stumbled off my bed and walked into my bathroom, stripping and chucking my clothes into the wash pile. I slipped into the shower and let the hot jets of water run down me.

After rinsing out the Herbal Essences from my hair, I stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel round me, putting my hair into a sloppy ponytail. I took a look at myself in the mirror and sighed. The same old ugly me.

My cheeks were still stained from my tears, my eyes had massive bags from weeks of bad sleep and my body was bigger than I wanted it.

I tore my gaze from my reflection and rummaged around in my drawers, trying to find something decent to wear for what I was about to do. I got changed into a black sports bra with a white cropped top and some running shorts.

I put on my trainers and instead of putting my bracelets on like I always did, I put a sweatband round my wrist which covered my secrets.

I grabbed my usual bag which contained my boxing gloves, my water bottle, an energy drink and my purse. I slung it round my shoulder and started to head out until I saw something glinting in the corner of my eye. I turned around to my chest of drawers and my heart stopped slightly.

I fingered the cold, metal necklace and slipped it off the rack. I clenched it in my hands and closed my eyes tightly. Niall had given me this necklace on our 1 year anniversary and it had mean't everything to me, up until about 3 years ago.

It was a key and he said that I was the key to his heart. I know, cliche and cheesy but at the time it was perfect. Sure, everyone teased him about the reason but he didn't seem to mind. In fact he had been proud of it and would just smile and carry on.

I opened my eyes again and my hand opened up. I un-clipped it and hung it round my neck, the key barely touching my skin which sent shivers down my spine. I clipped it shut and it dropped onto my skin. My eyes began to well up but I brushed them away.

Niall had left over 3 years ago and yet I still had the necklace which had once mean't so much to me. Why couldn't I gain some balls and just throw it away. Niall was never coming back and I couldn't just mourn his absence for the rest of my life.

I shoved my thoughts into my imaginary bin and walked out the room, closing the door carefully so I didn't wake my dad or Henry up. I ran down the stairs and wrote my dad a note, telling him I would be back later. I glanced up at the clock and then left.

It was 6:38 so I would be early but that didn't matter, Paul would let me in. It wasn't that cold outside but you could still feel the pre-winter chill in the air. I jogged my way to the club, having a quick warm up before I started.

"Hey! Paul!" I shouted, banging loudly on the door. Paul came out with an angry face but it soon softened as he saw me. He shook his head with laughter and dug around his pockets, bringing out a key. "God May, you could have called me," he said chuckling slightly and bringing me into a hug.

"But what would be the fun in that?" I asked and he rolled his eyes. If you didn't know Paul closely you would probably be terrified of him. He was huge and had massive muscles on his arms. You didn't want to get in a fight with him, he would rip you apart.

And luckily, I had his number so if I ever got into trouble, he could come and tear the people, who were harassing me, apart. "Why so early?" he asked, locking the door again. "Um, I woke up early and couldn't get back to sleep," I muttered.

I hadn't told Paul about Niall. Paul knew him since he was friends with Niall's dad but even then, if I told him what had happened, he would probably go and hunt Niall down, then rip to him pieces. He was like my bodyguard, my 2nd father.

"Ok, that's fine, just head over to Ring No.1 and get started. Call me if you need anything," he said, walking back to his desk. I smiled and jogged over. I hung my bag on one of the hooks and bent down, under the ropes.

I pulled on my gloves, smiling to myself. I was the only girl who boxed here and most people would have found that strange but all the people here, no matter how scary they looked, treated me like them. Some people said I could rival some of the best ones here but I didn't want to risk my face getting smashed in.

I threw a few punches at the hard bag, my adrenaline pumping through my veins as my necklace bounced on and off my skin. I was punching hard and soon was sweating. I had hardly noticed how long I had been doing it for until I heard some people come in.

I swiveled round, glancing at the clock. It was 7:47, so I had basically been here for an hour. "God, you must not want to leave," said Max, coming over and giving me a bone-crushing hug. "I really don't, I am going to miss this place," I said sadly.

"And," he said, waving his hand to go on. "Oh and you guys of course," I chuckled. Max was my best friend, I could trust him with anything and like Paul, he would rip someone to pieces if they messed with me.

But he knew about Niall since he had found me crying one morning and I spilled everything. It was only Henry, my dad and him who knew. Well, actually my mum knew as well but I didn't really count her. "What time are you leaving?" he asked sadly.

"At 5, our plane leaves at 7 so we have to be there a few hours before," I said, hugging him again. "I'm going to miss you," he said. "I'm going to miss you too Max but I will skype you every day and call and email and text and maybe even a letter," I said happily.

Max laughed," I will also do all of that but you will have to tell me your address. I don't want random reporters and people at my house saying that I sent a letter to the Queen saying rude things." I cocked my head back in laughter.

" Don't worry I will tell you but just in case I forget, my address is Buckingham Palace," I winked. He smiled and pushed me back," carry on. Get all that stress out of you and by the way, nice necklace." I giggled, trying not to wince in the pain of the memory and turned round to the bag.  Game on Mr. Boxing Bag.

Few Hours Later

"Yes, yes, I will be back soon Henry. Bye," I said and shoved my phone into my bag. I sighed and threw the bag onto my shoulder. "I have to go guys," I mumbled. All of the boys stopped what they were doing, stared at me and then ran up and engulfed me in the world's hugest hug.

"Gu... Guys.... Can't... bre... breathe," I gasped. They laughed and placed me down. I lean't on Max, gasping for air. "We are going to miss our little May," said Paul, smiling slightly. I nodded and gave him a thumbs up. Those guys really took the breath out of you.

They all laughed again and Max wrapped his arm around me. "Sorry guys and yes, I will miss you all too. You're like my second family. It's going to be so hard not having this place around," I said. I looked around and I knew that I wasn't going to see these familiar walls for a long time.

I was telling the truth when I said they were my second family. Paul and Max were my parents, so in my 'family', I guess they were gay. There was another guy my age called Josh who was like a brother to me and the rest were like my Aunts and Uncles.

"I'll take you home," said Max and I nodded. I hugged everyone and said bye before returning home. I hugged Max one last time, promising to call etc. every day or when I could. And then went into the house. Luckily, I had already packed but I had to change.

I got dressed into some black leggings, a flowy white top and some converse, swapping my sweat band with my bracelets.

I still had my necklace on because I knew that I couldn't leave it behind here, it would hurt too much. I skipped down the stairs to see Henry on his phone. He looked up and grinned," why do girls always take so long to get changed?"

I slapped him playfully and mimicked," why do boys always never shut up." "Touche," he smiled," now, leggo!"

We arrived at the airport just in time and I gave one last look at my home. "I'm going to miss you Ireland," I whispered before Henry lead me down the tunnel and into the plane.
