After the books Divergent and Insurgent by Veronica Roth I have decided to write a third novel in the series, called Emergent.
Tris Prior and Tobias Eaton both belonged to a world where there were five different factions: Abnegation, Candor, Amity, Erudite and Dauntless. You could only choose one. Tris and Tobias are Divergent meaning that they belonged in more than one faction. Although now there is a war going on between the factions.
Tris is determined to find what is going on on the other side of the fence that has been guarded for many years but she was not prepared for what she finds.
Tris's older brother Caleb who betrayed her and her family is willing to do absolutely anything to gain control of all factions even if it means destroying them first.

4. chapter 4

The smell of burning filled my lungs as the remains of Dauntless crumbled before us. All around me there was a deafening silence. I was paralyzed for a moment as I lay against the side of the ruined car. Tobias seemed to be as well. There was a horrific pain in my right arm which had gotten caught somewhere as the car crashed. I sat up to examine it and instantly wished that I hadn't. I gagged and black spots appeared before my eyes. My right arm had been bent slightly in the wrong direction and through the blood and gore, I could see part of my bone sticking out. I started gagging again. Tobias sat up on the other side of the car.

"You OK?" he asked turning towards me.

"My arm."I gasped my eyes shut, refusing to look at it. Then he saw it.

"Oh my God!" he yelled in panic. "You need to get to a hospital right now."

I nodded sluggishly and since I was losing quite a bit of blood I was feeling really sick. Black spots clouded my vision and then I was enveloped in complete darkness.

I woke up with a headache and I had absolutely no idea where I was. I attempted to sit up but the moment I put pressure on my right arm I felt agonising pain the whole way down my arm. I screamed and a nurse came rushing over. I suddenly remembered last night. The nurse gave me a strong painkiller and some water. I devoured down gratefully. The painkiller soon began to kick in. I then fumbled through my pocket to make sure that the code wasn't missing. Thankfully it was still there. I called a doctor over and asked where I was and if Tobias was here as well. She said that we were in Candor and that Tobias had hit his head and was being checked for concussion in a different building. She also said that my arm should heal up soon if I rested it. I was feeling quite tired so I soon drifted off. When I woke up the pain in my arm had subsided a little and the doctor told me that Tobias was waiting downstairs and that I could go now as long as I kept my arm in a cast. She helped me up and I walked slowly downstairs. I grinned when I saw Tobias waiting for me. He had a bandage wrapped around his head but apart from that, he looked fine. He slipped his hand into mine and we headed outside.

Once we were outside he turned to face me and said "Candor are lending us a jeep but they want it back so we had better try to keep it in one piece."

We soon reached the jeep. It looked fairly new and was in pretty good condition, which was unfortunate, since the odds were fairly slight we would be returning it anywhere near that way, if we returned it at all. I slipped into the black leather passenger seat and Tobias sat beside me. He put the key into the ignition and started the car. He then began to drive in the direction of the fence. After a while, we reached a gate. I was starting to get rather nervous and I could feel butterflies in my stomach. We got out of the jeep and approached the gate where I withdrew the piece of paper from my pocket. Since I couldn't see anything through the gate, I began to prepare myself for the worst as I typed in the code. I stood back beside Tobias as the gate slowly began to open. When it opened I froze like a statue. I had been through many extraordinary things in my life so far, but none of them could have possibly prepared me for what I saw.
