After the books Divergent and Insurgent by Veronica Roth I have decided to write a third novel in the series, called Emergent.
Tris Prior and Tobias Eaton both belonged to a world where there were five different factions: Abnegation, Candor, Amity, Erudite and Dauntless. You could only choose one. Tris and Tobias are Divergent meaning that they belonged in more than one faction. Although now there is a war going on between the factions.
Tris is determined to find what is going on on the other side of the fence that has been guarded for many years but she was not prepared for what she finds.
Tris's older brother Caleb who betrayed her and her family is willing to do absolutely anything to gain control of all factions even if it means destroying them first.

2. chapter 2

As Caleb disappeared, I practically had to pick my jaw off the floor. Cristina winced as some of Janine's blood  began to flow out from under the desk. Tobias simply stood there motionless. It took a moment before we realized that we should make a run for it before guards came in and discovered Janine's body. Tobias grimaced as he drew the knife from her chest to cut the ropes. Suddenly we heard the high-pitched wailing of an alarm. I could hear shouting and the sound of footsteps heading in our direction as we sprinted towards the door. Just as we reached the main entrance a door on the other side of the room burst open and about a dozen armed guards swarmed in. I yanked the door open and ran outside followed closely by Tobias. I heard Cristina cry out and as I spun around, I saw her lying awkwardly on the floor. She managed to clamber to her feet but it was too late, the guards had her surrounded. I tried to go back but Tobias pushed me forward.

"It's too late," he said. And as much as I hated to believe it, I knew he was right.

I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes as we ran away. Soon, Erudite HQ was barely visible so we stopped to rest under a huge oak tree. I fell to my knees and sobbed. Tobias sat down and put his arm around my shoulder trying to comfort me. Right at this moment I felt like I should just give up, that none of this was worth it anymore. But some part of me knew that I had to keep going, even if it leads nowhere. After a long time I stood up, and the two of us continued aimlessly down this unfamiliar road. Just as it was getting dark we spotted Amity HQ. Thank god for that! We walked through a few fields of corn before we reached the city.

Amity or Candor were the only safe places now since my two homes Dauntless and Abnegation were practically destroyed.

After we passed more rows of houses we reached a building that vaguely resembled a hotel. Once we reached it, I knocked loudly on the door. A young Amity woman appeared moments later and welcomed us in since she recognized us from our last visit which, sadly, hadn't ended well. As we walked in, she gave us a lecture on how there was zero fighting, either verbal or physical, permitted at Amity. Then she showed us an empty room where we could stay the night.

The next morning we headed downstairs for some breakfast and I recognized some people I knew when I was still in Abnegation. We sat down beside them and just as we started talking a screen at the other end of the room flickered to life. Everyone stared at it confused. It was quite fuzzy but if I squinted I could make out a face. Caleb. Tobias noticed and tensed up beside me. Then Caleb began to speak.

"Good citizens, my name is Caleb Prior and I'm here at Erudite HQ." People gasped and turned towards me. I gulped, we won't be staying here long. Caleb continued. "This word is ruined by now and it brings me to tears when I look out the window. But now I propose a new fresh perfect world. Although everything you see around you, including the people, will have to be destroyed before this is possible. But there will be two of you lucky enough to be with me and to see this new world. Come to Erudite HQ to surrender and to have a chance to be one of those lucky people but if you refuse to surrender yourself you shall die a slow painful death. Thank you for listening."

   Then the shouting began.
