16. A Thousand Years

Another tour over and an new one around the corner, but this year was going to be different. This year there is no tour, not just yet. This year wasn’t about us—One Direction. This year was about my beautiful fiancée and I getting married. We had set our date for June to get married on the beach. The date was the date we had first met while the guys and I were on tour in LA two years ago. I couldn’t believe that two years had gone by so quickly. Where did the time go?

I spent two years being in love with a girl I had met at a clothing store in LA. Within those two years, I got in an accident on the way back to LA from San Diego and lost my memory. But I got it back. I’ve acquired some new friends on the way—Angela’s friends—and broke up with Eleanor. Angela insisted on inviting her to the wedding and eventually I gave in. She won this round.

The best part was getting to finally marry my best friend. When I had lost my memory, Angela was there for me—the guys too. When I felt like giving up, Angela was there. She was my guardian angel. I knew I had to continue to fight. I had to fight for her and for the love that I had for her, the love that we share for each other. She and I were inseparable.

I remember that two years ago I was unsure of what I wanted and what I was going to do with my life. I knew I wanted to get married someday, but I knew that the moment wasn’t right, not at the time. I wanted to pursue my career of still being in One Direction, performing for millions of our fans that support and love us. That dream had all ready happened.

It was time for a new one and I met that dream. That dream was Angela.

I was waiting impatiently in my room, pacing back and forth. “Stop pacing. You’re making me nervous.” Harry said. I was thankful the guys were in the room with me. I didn’t know what I’d do if it hadn’t been for them. They’ve supported me and guided me on this long journey. Ever since the X Factor days, we all have been friends.

Harry was my best man and he pretended to be excited when he all ready knew he was going to be the Best Man anyway. Jessica was the flower girl. “It’s killing me how I can’t see her.” I said. I wasn’t allowed to see Angela at all in the last twenty-four hours. In my mind, she looked beautiful. She always is, inside and out. “You’ll see her in about ten minutes.” Zayn said.

We walked out of the room and went separate ways. I had to take my place at the end of the aisle, while Harry and the rest of the guys took their places with the bridesmaids and Maid of Honor.

The music started and I impatiently waited while everyone stood up. Everyone had walked down the aisle, but Angela. As soon as she rounded the corner, my heart skipped a beat. It was Angela in her beautiful white gown. She walked with so much grace and poise, I was completely mesmerized.

I couldn’t believe it. I was finally getting married, to my best friend of course. This was one of the greatest memories that I’ve ever had. A knock came at my door and my dad’s head peeked through. “Ready?” he asked with a smile. I nodded and smiled, “Ready as I’ll ever be dad.”

I walked out of the room, linking my arm with his and we made our way to the aisle. I could hear the waves crashing on the beach and the music begin to start. “You look beautiful honey.” My dad whispered in my ear.

I knew he was happy to see his first daughter get married and it’d be a long time until his second one did. Everyone was all ready standing when I rounded the corner. I didn’t look at anyone but Louis. He looked so hot in a tuxedo and just thinking about it made me want to rip it off of him.

We reached the end of the aisle where I took my place right beside Louis while everyone took their seats. We said our “I Do’s”, exchanged rings, and shared our first kiss as husband and wife. It was a magical moment. My last and final wish had come true.

The reception was held at the club house near the beach. We greeted so many guests that were invited and I lost count of how many people I hugged. I met Louis’ younger sisters and his mom. I introduced them to my parents and Jessica. They all had a fun time bonding with each other.

Speeches were said by the Best Man and Maid of Honor, then we had our first dance together. I never wanted to leave his side after that. “You are so beautiful.” Louis smiled as we danced together. “May I cut in?” I heard Harry’s voice cut in behind Louis.

Louis nodded, moving away from me as Harry took his place and we danced together. “Just letting you know, I’m not much of a dancer.” He said as an upbeat music began playing. He spun me out, then twirled me back in his arms as our eyes locked.

He smirked, “I lied.”

I smiled as the two of us continued to dance together. My eyes moved over towards Louis who was talking with Eleanor. “Are you okay?” Harry asked me. I looked at him, “I was the one who suggested to invite her. Of course I’m okay.” I smiled.

Louis and Eleanor walked over to us. “You picked a wonderful guy to marry.” Eleanor smiled.

“Why’s that?” I asked her.

“I’m not saying this from experience, or maybe I am, but he’ll always keep you laughing. Also, he’ll be there for you through everything. He’s very supportive.” She said. “You two make an adorable couple.”

“Thanks.” I smiled. I couldn’t help but give her a hug. I knew she and I haven’t been on good terms, but it’s never too late to try and be friends. “No problem.” She smiled as we both pulled away. The three of us talked some more before she walked away to go and talk to some of the other guests.

After the reception, Angela and I retreated to one of the rooms that we shared. “Where is this honeymoon going to be?” she asked. I had a feeling that she’d ask me that question. I shook my head and said, “I’m not going to tell you.”

“Why not?” she asked with a pout.

I smiled and then kissed her lips. “If I tell you, then it wouldn’t be a secret anymore.” She pinned me down onto the bed as she smirked. I all ready knew what she was going to do next.

Finally we were all back in the UK. Angela had said good bye to her family before we left. “Louis, this isn’t the way to the house.” Angela said from the passenger seat. I hadn’t said anything since we left the airport. I didn’t want to tell her about the new house that I bought.

I parked in the driveway of the new house and we both got out. “Who’s house is this?” she asked. I led her to the door and opened it. “Ours.” I smiled, then waited for her reaction. She turned around, facing me. “I love you.” She wrapped her arms around my neck, pulling me in for a kiss as I closed the door behind us.

I have died every day waiting for you
Darling don’t be afraid
I have loved you for A Thousand Years.
