14. You Took Me To This?

Mary's POV

I dyed my hair back to my natural brunette colour for tonight, and left it wavy. I put on a green dress and black shoes before grabbing my trusty leather jacket and going out the door to the black limo I saw Niall get out of. I met him half way and he kissed me gently on the cheek. That kiss ignited something I had never felt before. I climbed into the limo and Lou looked pleased that I had dyed my hair back. I sat between him and Niall and everyone was very quiet.

"Never planned that one day I'd be losing you,

In another life, I would be your girl,

We'd keep all our promises be use against the world,

In another life, I would make you stay,

So I don't have to say you were the one that got away," I sang softly. Everyone looked at me. Niall looked hurt, and extremely sad.

"You have a great voice Mary," Liam commented.

Everyone was silent again. For some stupid reason I began singing again.

"I shoulda told you what you meant to me,

Cause now I pay the price,

In another life, I would be your girl,

We'd keep all our promises be us against the world," Everyone stared again

"Why are you singing that?" Harry asked

"It means something to me," I replied with a quick glance to Niall.

After a tense journey, we got out. Fans were cheering and Niall put his arm round my waist protectively.

"What's this?" I asked nobody in particular

"It's a private concert. You'll get a VIP pass when we get in so you can go backstage," Lou answered

I took my seat and cheered along as they sang all their songs. At the end Niall spoke up.

"We have one last song, and it's dedicated to one special girl, Mary," I looked up as Niall spoke. He smiled at me and I couldn't help but smile back.

"Well, I took a stroll on the old long walk
Of a day -I-ay-I-ay
I met a little girl and we stopped to talk
Of a fine soft day -I-ay-I-ay
And I ask you, friend, what's a fella to do
'Cause her hair was brown and her eyes were too

And I knew right then I'd be takin' a whirl
'Round the Salthill Prom with a Galway girl

We were halfway there when the rain came down
Of a day -I-ay-I-ay
And she asked me up to her flat downtown
Of a fine soft day -I-ay-I-ay
And I ask you, friend, what's a fella to do
'Cause her hair was brown and her eyes were too
So I took her hand and I gave her a twirl
And I lost my heart to a Galway girl

When I woke up I was all alone
With a broken heart and a ticket home
And I ask you now, tell me what would you do
If her hair was brown and her eyes were too
I've traveled around I've been all over this world
Boys I ain't never seen nothin' like a Galway girl"

The boys sang. But there was one line he sang by himself. One line that he changed. And I knew right then it was about him and me. He held out his hand and I took it. As I walked up on stage someone handed me a mic.

"You have anything to say?" Niall asked. "Or sing?" He added

"I do actually," I smirked

"And I ask you now, tell me what would you do, if his hair was blonde and his eyes were blue," I sang down the microphone. The audience laughed.

"What would you do?" Niall whispered in my ear, his mic away from his mouth

"Do you want me to show you?" I whispered back

He nodded, and I closed my eyes. That moment our lips met for the first time, on front of all those people. It just felt right.

"I shoulda told you what you ment to me," I sang just to him

"And I lost my heart to a Galway girl," He sang back.
