7. Telling The Truth

When I was little, Marcy and I would always go down to the pond near Harbor St. It was our favorite spot and our names were still carved in the trees from when we were still into those retro Barbie dolls. We actually accidentally dropped one into the pond thinking that it wouldn't sink, but it did, and Marcy was upset. She recieved another one for her birthday and she forgot about the old one. I decided to take Matt down there to refresh some of my memories, and to show his our old hideout. We would go there for top secret meetings sometimes to discuss our boy troubles.

"Here we are!" I said clenching my hand against Matt's. "It used to be my childhood hang out spot, everyone used to come here." Matt smiled and we sat down on the peer. A mother bird was bringing her babies food in a tree above us. That's going to be me in a few short years.

"Julia, can I ask you something?" Matt asked quietly.

"Anything." I said, I noticed that Matt had a tear coming down his face. "Matt, what's wrong?"

"My mom" He sniffed, squeezing my hand. "She just got rushed to the hospital, she had a heart attack."

"Oh my god! Do you need a ride to the hospital? I could ask my brother if he could-"

"Julia, it's no use. I just need to relax and not worry. If I go and see her, it will just make everything worse."

"You know, I had the same problem. my mom had cancer and died when I was 7. I wouldn't talk to anyone for months. It was really hard, not having anyone to talk to about important stuff. I completely isolated myself from everybody else, at the time." Matt sighed and stared into my eyes. I did a faint smile and kissed him on the cheek. I really love him and I would hate to see anything bad happen to him or his family.

"Thank you Julia, I feel like I can tell you anything."

"You can, You know I love you"

"I love you too Julia" He pulled me into a hug and we walked back to my house saying nothing but us breathing heavily. Tears streamed down Matt's face and as we locked hands, his grip kept getting tighter and tighter per minute.
